The MK-230 Boombox will only record onto a NORMAL position tape, but it will PLAY both NORMAL and HIGH bias (type 2) tapes.
If recording from the radio onto a cassette, be aware that the built-in microphone ALSO picks up any sounds, so if you are speaking near the boombox while it is recording from the radio, you will hear your voice when you play back the tape !
This could be annoying, but it also allows you to make any comments about the radio program that is being recorded, so you can hear your comments during playback !
