Nice and clean install bro! For anyone curious, the rotor width should be a minimum of 22mm on the GTI or 27mm for Performance Pack GTIs, Golf Rs, and Audi S3s. The GTI also has 14mm pads (13 for PP) and they shouldn't be used if less than 2mm without the backing plate. Also the VW's torque spec for the caliper guide pins at 4:06 is 30nm. Hope this helps!

FYI, rear brakes are a little different and you need a specialty piston compressor

If the rotor is scored it should be replaced, and I would have lubed the contact point including the slide pins. Thanks for the video.

Amateur hack job, putting new pads on grooved up rotors, not the best idea. He didn't clean and lubricate the slides where the pad tabs go into you just stuck them on the dirty Rusty slides another bad idea. He didn't inspect or clean and lubricate the caliper slide bolts, if they are frozen up or binding you'll get uneven pad wear. Look elsewhere for guidance on how to do a more professional job.

Thanks for the video, quite a big help! How about the break sensor? The pads I purchased have only one side to connect the sensor, is that on the driver side or passenger side, and where does it hook up? Again, thank you for this very helpful video.

I'm guessing that this was a front set, correct? Is doing the rear pads any different? Also, how do you like the pads? If you do, where did you get them? Thanks!
@MillennialFilmz
@MillennialFilmz 5 жыл бұрын
That is correct the demonstration was a front set. Doing the brake pads on the rear is almost the same process the only difference is you need a different tool to compress the caliper instead of squeezing it in you need to squeeze and turn at the same time you can go to your nearest auto parts store and they should have that tool you can more than likely rent it. The Brake pads got are OEM and I got them at O'Reilly's Auto Parts store I recommend them if you daily drive and don't do any hard driving however if you do Drive hard or possibly track I recommend you getting some performance pads. I hope this helped you!

@@MillennialFilmz Yes, that's a very helpful reply. I would say that I under-use my GTI, which is to say that I don't take it to the track or stuff like that. I just like having fun on country roads, and being able to accelerate out of a jam whenever I feel like. All that means is that the OEM pads will be just fine for me, at least for now. Thanks again!
