Doesn’t matter how many times I watch the trilogy, whenever I get to return of the king it’s still an emotional rollercoaster...every time (and I’ve seen it a lot) that’s what makes them the greatest films ever made. Even after all that time and the countless times I’ve watched it still hits you right to the core and every time you rewatch it feels like you’re seeing it again for the first time

The song was written for Cameron Duncan of New Zealand, a young film maker Peter Jackson was impressed with who passed away from cancer. It was first played at his funeral and is a very beautiful song from the heart of Annie Lennox. Rest In Peace.

Dear Mike, I am not sure you will not die, if this song is not played at your funeral, but I love the sentiment. I just felt I wanted to acknowledge your comment. (Like: "I wish I'd written that!") Thank you, Peter Selig P.S. I am a 45-year long fan of TLOTR, but more focused on the books, and reading/re-reading them, than the movies - though I believe Peter Jackson and all his team did a magnificent job or rendering the stories into film in a manner which has great depth and integrity. I consider it would be hard to do any better job than Peter Jackson and his team did, now or anytime in the future. And, yes, I love this song by Annie Lennox. 😊

Our Daughter Elizabeth Wise was murdered by her husband on May 15th in Steelton, PA. We find so much comfort in this song and it helps us through this most painful time. This was played during her funeral and all found it so appropriate. Thank you for reaching into our hearts and if anyone is interested please look her up and read her story. May God help you find the strength to help others who are victims of domestic violence and prevent other families from this agony.

When I was a child, my father would read "The Hobbit" and "The Lord of the Rings" to my sister and I as bedtime stories. This nice, slow, lullaby-esque song, coupled with the imagery of the video, really takes me back... and makes me very tired... this is amazing, thank you so much!
@CariPR94

Funny thing, that's what Tolkien wrote "The Hobbit" for: as a bedtime story for his kids. And then he just couldn't contain his nerdiness, so he went all out and wrote everything down for everybody. 😊😄😂 And yes, this song seems like a lullaby at first, but as you listen to the lyrics, you realize that it's also a farewell for someone who's about to die. That makes it so sad.

The movies, despite any perceived flaws and actual alterations for the sake of the movie adaptation, were truly passion projects done by someone who truly respected what was made by the late, great Tolkien. It was the ultimate movie experience for everyone who ever watched them back in the early 2000s. I remember the feelings so vividly.. and I had not read the books and no one was around to spoil it for me. I had no idea Gandalf would return. I had no idea about anything. It was absolute *bliss* . It truly brings a tear to the eye everytime I think about it. To think that barely anyone will ever get to experience the same is saddening. Amazon is bastardizing the universe so painstakingly made by Tolkien. Sullying the name of the Trilogy made manifest by the brilliant director Peter Jackson. It may have centered around a select group of people and as such wasn't as "representative", but that does not give Amazon the right to make up their own bullshit. It's truly a shame. They should have consulted with people who actually love the books and the world they made.

This song was written and performed by Scottish Singer/Songwriter Annie Lennox, she even won both a Golden Globe, as well as an Academy award for it. Sun was about to rise as I sat in a movie theater in Culver City. Watching the midnight showing of Return of the King. When dear Frodo looks back to his fellowship…his brethren hobbits…my eyes were so filled with tears, I couldn’t see the screen. That chorus made the tears flow while seeing the closing of a masterpiece. I looked back at the audience and all I could see were light dancing upon the watery eyes reflecting off the screen. A magical community all sharing these feelings. I stepped out of the theater just as the sun was peeking out from the horizon.

I watch this movie every year and i can watch it every year for the rest of my life. It will always be good and it will always remain my favorite. I saw this movie in the passed year maybe 5 times on the tv, by a friend and by choice and i am always tempted to watch it again even though i just finished my anual routine. It always drags me into middle earth and i dont want to leave it. I feel bad for swtiching to another channel, cause there is no reason for any other movie or program in the world to put LOTR on second priority. My whole heart goes to this movie/story, its moral, the lesson that has been learned and the wisedom it contains. I always use it as my sourch to teach others about the world and how it truly works.. cause thats exactly what this movie shows. I adore this song and it gives me great memories. I had everything the movie deserves and its perfectly choosen and made!

The Jackson trilogy of films will never be equaled in scope and the sheer beauty of the filming. Many scenes are works of art. The acting, the casting, the sound track are all superior to most any movies ever made. I admit to being biased as a Tolkien nut, but Jackson's films really do capture the essence of the books, a very daunting task which he did succeed doing.

I love the way Tolkien created a place for people to go to 'sleep' when they had lost all purpose for living, I think it's a beautiful idea and I love this song for capturing his idea perfectly. Middle earth is my escape from the real world and I am grateful to Tolkien. I want this song to be played at my funeral.

I mean name a better one imo. Godfather went downhill quickly and actually the second was better than the first. There literally isn't a more consistent trilogy in movie history especially with the critical acclaim to back it. I mean they aren't just rated in the top 10 movies of all time (at least) they bloody have like 12 Oscars between them xD

I always envisioned this song being played after the credits started rolling as an alternate ending. Instead of the artwork of all the characters, Galadriel is shown on the bow of the departing ship singing this song telepathically to Frodo, in her arms and exhausted from his toll as the Ring Bearer.
