The best managerial ejection I ever saw (in person too) was Earl Weaver vs. the Yankees. An Oriole was called out at second. Earl came charging out for the confrontation. A fan in the stands yelled, “Get back to the dugout, ya fuckin’ runt!” Earl flips his cap around so he can peck at the umpire. He then SITS DOWN on second base. The ump had no choice but to run him. So Earl let’s loose and, eventually, the ump turns and goes to brush off home plate with his back towards second. Earl makes a beeline for him like he was going to kick him in the ass. Instead, the moment the ump was through, Earl kicks dirt all over the dish. Priceless. Even Lou Pinella can’t top that one.
