Like the concept. Now try this but can't have teams play multiple times over other teams. Pirates first game was against Toronto who had already won 4 or 5 times.

Thank you so much for the suggestion! While on paper this does sound like a cool idea, in practice, it would probably just end up being MLB Imperialism with maybe a few AAA teams sprinkled in there. I'll definitely keep that one in consideration though, if need be. Thank you for your comment!
