It's spring again, so that means another entry into the MLB The Show franchise. With MLB The Show 24, the team at San Diego Studios has enhanced some of the previously available modes in this year's version of that game. But how about performance on Nintendo's platform? What other updates has the game seen? We talk about all of this and more in our review of the game on the Nintendo Switch.

@@ericdraven7857 EA Sports FC, Madden, and several crossplatform non-sports games like Call of Duty have PC crossplay without a massive hacker problem. And if "Hackers" are that big of a concern, then limit PC players to PC players like NBA 2k does. There's no good excuse besides the idea that PC doesn't sell that well, which is clearly bullshit given how many mainstream AAA non-sports games exist on PC.

As a primarily PC gamer with my only console being a switch, it’s for sure not ideal especially when playing online cross platform against friends, but I’m glad I have a way to play the show without having to waste money on an Xbox series s or something. I do wish they’d put it out for PC but I’ve accepted that that will never happen

To be honest with cloud gaming you could buy game pass and play on PC but that's just my opinion.

I really wish this was a lot more detailed on the rtts part. Did they at least add more times to talk to your agent about trades and position changes and have it actually work? Will they finally call you up to the majors due to play and not overall? Can you fully progress offline?

I last played MLB The Show 22 and I can tell you what has been added since that game for RTTS. New MLB Network coverage of your RTTS player, whether male or female. New drone shots and the pitch clock. The stuff where you talk to your agent is new to me, since it wasn't in 22, but it feels clunky. Return of the combine. I am sure there are more little things but that 2 year gap makes it feel like a true upgrade from 22 for me and I never say this about sports games. Madden disappoints me constantly and NHL is mid with NBA being too much of a grind. I really love F1 though.

@@sO_RoNerY That's not a hardware issue that's a bad game design issue. All the things he said could easily be implemented without major problems in gameplay. We don't need a bad story just put that option to ask for trades in the menu.

Does it lag pitching or play terrible online dynasty? Want a switch version the 22 one was awful on switch. It was okay for just franchise, but online dynasty was too bad to play compared to consoles

That was an excellent review. I'm playing on Game Pass, but was curious if worth getting for my Switch to take on the go. Looks like a competent game with the normal reduced graphic fidelity on the Switch. Great review!

Unless I see this game on sale for cheap then I might just skip out on this game all together. Most of the changes don't seem too good so it's basically just a roster update to me.

I'm wondering if they fixed the bug from 2023 , in franchise mode you couldn't play with a custom jersey or team...it worked in 2022 but 2023 was broken....I hope they didn't copy paste 2024 with the same glitch

23 was a disaster, if you create a player with black hair in game looks white and viceversa 😂 24 looks 10 times better but the crowd still looking terrible.

Is it worth buying if I have The show 23 and mainly played franchise mode? Is The show 24 smoother than 23 when there are runners on the base?

I didn’t get super deep into the mode, but there’s not a whole lot different. Some broadcast elements are smoother overall, which is nice. Performance is on par with The Show 23. Is it worth buying? If you don’t mind restarting your franchise from zero, sure. New rosters are also here, too. - Danny

Great review. Downloaded it after several years of not playing it. My son has a switch and the rtts is still a great and challenging mode. I can cope with the visuals understanding that it's a hardware issue. Just would love some spanish comentaries, baseball is so big in latinamerica.

Sad about the Oakland A’s. I’m a former SF Bay Area guy born and raised in Redwood City & Newark. Giants fan! Moved to Washington back in 95. Yakima. I’m very upset about how Oakland has been treated by the City. I’m sure the Giants will get an increase of support now, which is great for them so if the A’s end up in Las Vegas I hope they go to the World Series!!!

My DD works. Crashes only occasionally, however it crashes at the worst times in mini season games for me. Conquest is fine. At least for me. Hasn’t crashed on RTTS for me yet

This was great but I really want to know if they fixed the RTTS bug where you get no offers during free agency and your contract is automatically like 5 years. And the fact that your agent rarely pops up to ask if you want a trade.

That’s not a glitch. That’s how the game has been for over a decade. If you play decently, you are locked into your rookie contract which is five years long.

No Stadium Creator, no major changes, so MLB the Show 23 remains. Having the ability to add your rosters and seasons from older editions instead of starting from new would have also been a draw.

Sorry for the late reply. For fielding, things are relatively smooth. Not perfect but I’ve never had any issues with the gameplay because of it. - Danny

Did you buy the physical version or the game off of the eShop? Either way, yeah, having an SD card is almost always recommended by the publisher. The Switch only has a max 64 GB of storage (for the OLED model) and that’s not even enough with system files and the like taken into account. I hope you find a good deal on one and can get to playing the game soon! - Danny

Go to a retro video game store that sells nes to ps5, all classic consoles. They were selling 128gb cards for 9.99, 20 for 256gb. Dont get scammed by Best Buy or GameStop over pricing the gb cards for the switch

When is MLB the show coming to PC we need it on PC it’s been long enough and it’s the only baseball game to not release on Steam. There is no MLB game on Steam and we need one cuz 2K fucked up and stopped releasing MLB games if they continued and never stopped there would have already been a MLB game on Steam cuz 2K loves making all their games available on all platforms!!!

MLB The Show = PlayStation Super Mega Baseball = Switch And I find myself playing Super Mega more,like way more... But if you own Switch and PS then there is no need to even play the Switch version, it's awful in comparison to the PlayStation version

Not sure that I like that they hired some forum of DEI consultant. Woman major league needs stadiums and a showing. Something I would defiantly watch. I want to get. However when I google I get entry after entry of game crashing. Story mode should not be about one color. Albert Pujols would be great. Ozzy smith. And all stories should Cary from season to season. Download if you will. Just in case you want to do again and again.

Kinda, yes. Bringing the show to the switch was a bad idea. PSP looked and played better. With the trash switch hardware they have to keep advancements to a minimum so they can keep it on the switch. Switch is holding back the show.

The atmosphere is incredibly boring, bot much arena music, chants or organ like real world stadium. This has been overlooked for years, and lends itself to be a bit of a boring and unreal experience, and I hope it gets some attention!

To be fair, I turned off the game’s music to avoid copyright issues. There is a full soundtrack that plays in menus and even at the stadiums. More chants of some kind would be good here, for sure. - Danny

I got Xbox Series X controllers that I'm using in the living room via Bluetooth, and streaming my PC to an Nvidia Shield in the living room as well, so it's as if I have a console in the living room, but I don't...and most of todays PC hardware can easily handle console games too.
