Unfortunately there's one thing that destroys all of that...without their magic they can't do anything at all. The movie itself said so...I'd like to see them try what they did without magic...They wouldn't have gotten very far because they DON'T have the ability to convince people just seduce them. I don't think Celestia and Luna would've listened to them if they hadn't been hypnotized first. I do have to say they do have the ability to manipulate and nudge people in the direction they want them to go in a somewhat clever and subtly way but I don't think they're the genius's everypony is making them out to be.

Yeah, but how far would Discord have gotten if he didn't have magic? Or if Chrysalis didn't have magic? What threat is Tirek without magic? Without magic, Discord's just a passive aggressive mishmash of animal parts, Chrysalis is a weird bug monster that wouldnt be able to fool anyone, and Tirek would be a withered up monkey on a horse, and barely a threat to anyone. The movie didn't exactly say they couldn't do anything without their magic, just that they were just like ordinary humans without it. yes, their plan revolved around their magic, because their end goal was to restore their full power so they would be able to take over the rest of the world. Celestia and Luna wouldn't have listened to them if they didn't use their magic because the showcase was initially supposed to be a bunch of bands performing at one show to raise money for the school. A Battle of the Bands would have required far more effort and probably cost more time than they would have wanted to spend on it., so they used their magic to influence them, which makes way more sense than just making Celestia and Luna dumb enough to just be convinced like that, or making it into a case where someone like, say the Rainbooms could argue that a battle of the bands is a dumb idea, or that the Dazzlings are clearly evil and they'd lose control of the situation. Plus, the Dazzlings' music is their strongest weapon. Building their plan around strengths isn't lazy, it's smart. I don't know about Aria or Sonata, but I think Adagio is smart enough to get pretty far without magic she knew how to get the Rainbooms to turn on eachother without putting them under a spell after all. Everyone else in the school was, but they weren't under mind control. Adagio explicitly says before the cafeteria scene that their voices are just strong enough to make people "want something so badly that they'll fight to get it." So they didn't really mind control people, they presented them with an object, that is the competition, but used their magic just to make it seem like "Here's the only thing that you've EVER wanted, but only one of you gets to have it! Go!" and then turned the majority of that aggression onto the Rainbooms to put more stress onto them after Adagio figured out that they were the source of the magic they were searching for, and just set things up to put more heat on them and watched them go. Honestly, I'd say the only people they had near full control over were Celestia and Luna, and even then, it was just showing up to influence key decisions they'd make.

AniMana21 The thing is the rules are different in Equestria ponies already have magic so they have a chance of being able to defend against it. The human world supposedly has no magic at all so they're completely defenseless aganist someone who has magic. It's simply a massively unfair advantage. It would be like taking a WWII battleship back to the year 1500. It would slaughter every ship in every navy around the world since their weapons wouldn't have a chance to penetrate it's armor and in the mean time the battleships main guns would literally blow their ships to pieces. Would this be a accomplishment to be proud of? Not really since the enemy didn't stand a chance. This is frankly what I think the Dazzlings are doing for the most part they're practically busting into the school and seducing everyone in sight. Yeah they went and dealt with Celestia and Luna first, which was a good move but still none of what the Dazzlings are doing would've been possible without their magic. I do have to say that they do have the ability to manipulate, and scheme and how they operate is kind of clever. I think most of this I think is a reaction to when people say "The Dazzlings were much more threatening", yeah it's because they have magic already. If Sunset Shimmer had magic during the beginning of Equestria girls she would've been pretty threatening too! lol

That would be an apt comparison, if the Rainbooms didn't have magic and were immune to their spell. So it's less like a battleship going back to the 1500s and more like 2 battleships going against each other in a scenario favourable to one of the ships(that that ship had managed to procure for itself as well, I might add). That would be an accomplishment to win for either side. And really, it wouldn't have made too much of a difference if there was magic in everyone or not, since the sirens were able to do what they did in the human world in equestria as well, which was what lead to them being banished in the first place. Honestly, being in the human world, or the pony world wouldn't have made a difference. non main characters being pretty useless and helpless against villains tends to be a universal constant. Plus, the Dazzlings defeated Rainbow Power, so they're already at a higher tier than Tirek, no matter than universe

AniMana21 I'm not talking about the Dazzlings vs the Mane 6 because that ended up being a "fair" fight in the end. The ordinary population doesn't stand a chance against them simply because they don't remotely have any defense against it. What!? They didn't defeat the Rainbow power, it defeated them! Quiet badly I might add... Honestly I'm not interested in arguing about this any further since this still holds true.... Without magic the Dazzlings are nothing, the movie itself said so. End of story.

What can I say watching the Mane 6 argue and everyone turning on each for most of this movie was not enjoyable for me...The ending and the music however were awesome! But those were about the only things about this movie. Just curious, but what is the reason that you enjoy this movie so much?

BlueStarBrony I hope you don't mind if I say why I enjoy this movie. Because I do. A lot. I think it's much better than the first one. Not that I would think the first one was bad or anything, but it was kinda.... meh. In fact so much meh I wasn't looking forward to this movie and wasn't excited at all about it. I didn't even watch all the shorts they were releasing until the day before its premiere. And then... then I watched the movie and I was amazed. Some of things I liked: 1. Sunset Shimmer - I didn't like her as a villian (see point 2.) but I enjoyed her in this movie. She got a lot of characterization with mane 6 and that is awesome. 2. Villians - In the first movie, we got a stereotypical alfa bitch we saw in so many high school movies. Her transformation into the she-demon was interesting, but otherwise.... in this movie, we got Dazzlings. There are three of them, they are very powerful (turning an entire school against each other with just one song) and they have really beautiful music. Speaking of which... 3. Songs - I like pretty much all the songs in this movie (well, except of Twilight's bad counterspell and Snip's and Snail's rap) the songs sound beautiful on both Dazzlings and Rainbooms side. 4. More background characters - Maud Pie, Bulk Biceps, Lyra, more of Derpy... yeah, it's a cheap fanservise but you know what? I don't care. It was still amazing. Especially... 5. Lyra - I was very sad she wasn't in the first movie, as she's my second favorite background pony (after Derpy, of course). Plus, I have to say I am shipping her with Bon Bon for quite some time now, so just imagine how much I squeed at that moment during "Under our spell" song. So, all in all, I enjoyed it much, MUCH more than i expected and now I actually find myself pretty excited for EG3.

What can I say, I don't want the entirely Brony Community after me...lol I think there were too many lines etc that I felt were cringe worthy to have RR be really enjoyable. However the battle at the end was awesome! I do have to say they did avoid telling the same story over again. The Season 4 Premire was a little more interesting and had stuff that we really wanted to see, while RR I kind of wanted answers to some of these questions but they stall the story too much. I really liked Crystal Empire even though it did have a lot of exposition in it, Crystal Empire was a decent story by itself and literally created a whole new location in MLP.

I found your comments a bit ... off during your watching, like too many positive thumbs up and so on (I do not count the VA presentation intro). In the comments after, I understood why, and I understood even more when reading your comment here: You did not like it that much, yet you keep smiling, and that ... sorry ... is cringe worthy in this case. If you don't like it, you don't like it. You do not have to smile up for the watchers ... or perhaps i'm wrong about the why ...? Did you find it so depressing you had to smile up for yourself? Anyway, I liked the movie entirely, but if you did not like it ... well, at least I probably won't bug you about it. ^_^ I bug people about any bad excuses they might have for not liking something, but I can see that it can be seen as depressive, and that some parts is cringe worthy (I keep wanting to spell that as one word), so I don't mind you disliking it for that. That’s ok. I once started watching Ratchets reaction video to SnowDrop but ¼ the way through I actually wanted to see SnowDrop myself first! Lol It’s not that this movie is dark, it’s that it’s dark for far too long and I don’t feel the Mane 6 are really helping the situation. Twilight basically doesn’t have the answer, Sunset Shimmer is just sitting in the background and the other Mane 6 spend most of the movie arguing with other…Does not make me happy and the situation simply doesn’t improve until the very last 10 minutes of the movie. I’m actually confused about what they’re trying to do with Equestria Girls other than help Hasbro sell toys. Lol BTW I’m fine with that since frankly that IS the main reason show exists at all and also they usually make it work. So I’m not sure what people were expecting to happen when we go to a high school with supposedly no magic. Of course they destroy that expectation at the end of EQG. Yes they’re obviously going to do a school bully / mean girl thing, what else could they do? If Sunset Shimmer had actually gotten the crown at the beginning she would’ve put it transformed and taken the school. Hmm interesting Sunset Shimmer would have succeeded in that scenario since in theory Twilight could not have used the Elements of Harmony without the alternate Mane 6 and would’ve gotten her butt kicked. Twilight had to befriend the Mane 6 bring them and the school back together before they could truly face Sunset Shimmer meaning the rest of the movie is actually necessary and worthwhile. I really don’t think this is true in Rainbow Rocks since pretty much the exact opposite happens. Twilight goes to the human world thinking that they’re going to pull out the Magic of Friendship beat the Dazzlings and be home by dinner. Lol While this doesn’t happen at first this is sort of how the story ends, it’s literally a big battle at the end which didn’t really have much to do with the rest of the movie. You could almost throw most of the movie and just have that battle at the end, and you might be able to say the same for EQG but I still feel the rest of that movie contributed to the end. The Dazzlings do have the ability to manipulate people without using magic but the main argument against them is simply without magic they’re nothing, the movie itself said so…I do have to say that Dazzlings are more manipulative than I first thought but I still don’t think when it comes to planning that they’re the best. After seeing the way that they fight with each I’m surprised they get anything accomplished…I think Sunset Shimmer was a little bit better when it comes to her plan because even when it’s falling apart she still finds a way to make everything work in her favor. She knows she’s going to lose the Princess of the Fall formal she tries to force Twilight to give her the crown which of course fails because she doesn’t know how strong Twilight is and simply wouldn’t give it to her. When has the evil genius ever done anything them self. Lol If I was a evil genius and had minions I’d rather have them do things for me, besides if they get caught Sunset Shimmer could deny being involved. Lol Well the Mane 6 are kind of in self destruct mode even before the Dazzlings arrive. All the Dazzlings did was push them over the edge a little bit, even then they really didn’t have any direct involvement with the Mane 6 fighting. One thing I have to comment on in the “Trap Door” scene is, what is Twilight doing! Or more precisely what is Twilight not doing! Lol Actually watching this scene again Twilight is in a corner obviously upset about not knowing what to do so she has her own problems but it’s still surprising that the Princess of Friendship is out of the picture in this way. But I guess it’s part of her lesson that not everyone can have the answers and or be strong by themselves all the time. No not G1 everypony run! Lol Sunset Shimmers redemption is difficult at first because it’s not straight forward but I feel it does sort of work since she finally understands how wrong she was and realizes there really was another way. In Rainbow Rocks her redemption is much easier to understand simply because she’s trying to make for a major mistake she made which is something that probably resonates with a lot of people. My problem with the exposition in RR is that it’s the bad kind, the kind that where you have to pull people aside, stop the story and explain something to them. Some of these things were interesting but it’s stalling the story. The ultimate resolution isn’t so satisfying here because they don’t struggle with these arguments they’re ignoring them and they’re letting them happen. I think in short they had to more in EQG to get to the climax then they did in RR. Again most of this movie is building up the conflict and the resolution happens in a instant everything’s ok again within the last ten minutes. In EQG they had to bring together the Mane 6, the school and then be willing to stand against Sunset Shimmer. I also have to add be willing to “take a bullet” for Twilight! Lol In RR it’s like ok we’re friends again lets go fight the Dazzlings now. Lol I think it’s assumed that the alternate Mane 6 are exactly that alternate, the same basic characters but different circumstances etc. I do have to say that in RR they do show the differences between these characters a lot better. I think EQG and RR have a common problem in that they’re trying to compress things that would normally be in an entire season into a hour and ten minutes. Even Friendship is Magic part 1 and 2 which was forty minutes gave us a good intro to the characters but it wasn’t until several episodes later or perhaps till the end of the season did we really know the characters well. Trying to get involved with 6 main characters and move the primary story long can be difficult. Hmm the thing is that I don’t think a show like this can “grow” with it’s audience since that would mean you don’t get new audience. They don’t want to maintain their audience they want to get grow it by having new kids getting interested in the show and I don’t think that will happen if the show continually grows more mature. Since at some point it would probably not be appropriate to show to children anymore, and I really hope that doesn’t happen. No!!! Throw the Rapping dog and while you’re at it that whole movie overboard! Lol Whew that was long but interesting! Thanks for your comments! BlueStar Out.

If Sonata is faking, well she's doing a very good job of convincing everyone she's a idiot! lol If she is a genius I will be very surprised. Thanks! I guess....lol What can I say I don't what to promote people ripping off Hasbro but I understand how you feel. There were a surpsining number of places in the United States that you Couldn't see this movie. I do wish Hasbro would go all in on these movies and make them a actual movie release rather than a limited special event. I think they don't because if you haven't seen the show before you won't have a clue of who or what is going on. Well I'm glad you enjoyed my commentary and hope you enjoy the next one. First of all - canon, not cannon. Secondly - the notion that these movies are not canon in any shape or form is just dumb. They're an official Hasbro release, done by the same crew as FiM, released in-between seasons so they would fit perfectly in between them... why WOULD it be non-canon? Only people who didn't like the 1st movie say that. "I don't like it so it's not canon." Yeah... no.

Darkenss MX That's a common misconception. The elements weren't really the jewels. the gems are just tools. all the way back in season 1 episode 2 Twilight talk about the others' spirits. and spirits can not be removed unless killed. the gems were used to help Applejack, Fluttershy, Pinkie Pie Rainbow Dash, Rarity and Twilight Sparkle to learn to control their true power without the gems! That was the whole point of season 4 box arc!. and Twilight hints at it again throughout the whole series.
