I think the reason Cap jams his shield into the tricep of Buckys metal arm is because he realizes it’s mechanical and is trying to break it. The plates on Buckys arm catches the shield , Cap then senses he can’t break it so he pulls back and throws a strike.

It looks to me like Winter Soldier tossed his knife to confuse Steve. I noticed Steve's eyes following the knife, and he was still keeping up with his strikes and counters. Soldier tosses the knife up..breaking the rhythm and making Steve unsure of what the hell is going on..as you notice he IMMEDIATELY stops attacking for a few beats. Buck knows how skilled his opponent is so any doubt he can toss into the fight works to his advantage.

@@storytellingsnek5255 it might've had some percentage of vibranium by the end but it definitely wasn't vibranium to start with because hydra would not have had access to that when they first gave him the arm. A few years back they did a breakdown of the shield the Spartans used in combat and ran a full power edge strike through a force gauge. It ended up being a ridiculous amount of force due to the small point of contact along the shield's edge. Now put that into the hands of a guy that can hold helicopters in place, casually lift Harleys with a trio of ladies on them, and punch with enough force to dent and stagger a ten foot robot. That's a LOT of force.

It didn't have a lot of cuts, or the earthquakey camera movements, and it really brought the standard up for Hollywood fight scenes. I think Winter Soldier was a bit dazed after the suplex (or maybe tired out) because his swings seem wilder and less controlled after Steve gets back the shield. Might explain why he didn’t respond properly to the shield strike on his metal arm

You guys brought your knowledge as well as you respected the source material. This also is one of the best fight scenes in the MCU. This also showed how much Cap evolved in combat from his first movie to The Avengers. Loved the breakdown good job

Chris Evans being a tap dancer helped a lot to make fight scenes better cuz since its not a real fight but a choreographed one, he just needed to remember the the rhythm of the fight sequence

cool vid! I personally thought the point of the standing armlock was that Winter Soldier's arm has articulated plate on the exterior, and cap manages to jam the edge of his shield between two segments of plate which gives him an unexpected 'grip' close to the shoulder rather than just a wedge under the arm. With some upward force applied through the shield while the wrist control is pulling downwards this gives decent control to prevent any rotation of the shoulders for a second while Buckey's still trying to catch up mentally and figure out how to strip the unorthodox grip. Cool example of cap's high fight IQ / improv and ability to get steps ahead of his opponent. At least this is how I justify a standing armlock that would never work in the real world to be okay here so I can enjoy the film haha.

To give Logan Lo some more love, I highly suggest the 1v10 fight in The Final Master. It's definitely one of the little known movies inspired by Ip Man amongst the clones, but the MC here specializes in butterfly knives and goes through a gauntlet of weapon masters. What sets itself apart from other Chinese martial arts films is its relatively slow pace: the circling, the checking, the trapping, the strategy etc. It could very well be sluggish fighting, but I personally found it more realistic and artistic to have this slow, improv-like choreography with an array of Chinese weapons. I'm sure most people wouldn't know this movie, which is why I want to pitch this so strongly, because it looks like there's a lot of knife work to talk about.

The interesting dynamic between him using his knife hand as a primary weapon and his metal arm as a secondary, is because Bucky is right handed. He was given the metal arm on his left hand due to him losing his left arm in the accident. But since his right hand is more dominant, that's why he habitually uses his knife hand as the primary striking.

13:00 I think that was an attempt by Steve to cut off or at least damage Bucky’s arm. Remember that arm is pure machine, not like some armor but just a piece of metal, so he doesn’t feel any pain from that arm at all. And Cap clearly realized that arm is basically his main weapon, so if he could damage that he could easily win the fight. Tony managed to break off that arm in the Civil War, and Bucky immediately turned combat-incapable. I guess you can say he’s DISARMED, pun intended lmao 😏
@ScenicFights
@ScenicFights 3 жыл бұрын
Very valid on the argument on why Steve Rogers attack Bucky's arm. Chad's argument is essentially, why Bucky didn't just circle Steve and flank him instead of standing there taking damage. Obviously it was a production choice, but if it was a real life scenario a trained individual like Bucky would've just flanked Steve for the finish.
@LokiAndLoiDontGiveADamn
@LokiAndLoiDontGiveADamn 3 жыл бұрын
@@ScenicFights hehe thanks for the reply! And Logan was questioning why Bucky started using his knife instead of his left arm as primary weapon later in the scene (if I understood him correctly?), I think it’s because that shield strike on the arm did damage the arm (the scene after this where Bucky got back to Hydra’s facility, those people were actually repairing the same place Cap hit), so although it didn’t come off, I think there’s a possibility that the arm was not fully functional at that point and Bucky therefore started using his right arm (and because his right arm is human arm so it’s better to hold the knife than just bare hand). I hope this doesn’t sound like I’m reaching too much, I just think this could be a reasonable possibility.
