One tip that I humbly like to add is, expect bruises, pain and mistakes. This is not to let you fear the play but it's to let you know it's ok. It's ok to be hit hard sometimes or to get a wrong punch that is harder than it should be. It's a tough game so be tough. Tip two, leave you emotions out, all of them (partners) are brothers in the gym. Hard feelings are not allowed. Give him five and it's gone.

I have to disagree with that, I used to think this way when I first started I got good at boxing really quick, and 8 months in I decided to have MMA sparing with another beginner who has a wrestling background and hits very hard, up until this point I had boxing and kickboxing sparing sessions but not full on mma, we spared for a long time and I went home happy, but apparently I took too many shots to the head in the clinch, I sustained some brain damage, I'm not gonna get into that subject, but it's one of the scariest things that can happen to anyone, so if you're a beginner please don't be too tough for your own good. Floyd Mayweather says it best; the less you get hit the more you can last, so make it your number one priority not to get hit clean on the head.

Adam zoabi If you got hit so often and hard clinching during an ordinary sparring in the gym, I guess your coach has some responsibility of organization and check during his own lessons. In the mma gym I have classes with constant checkings especially during sparring.

One of the biggest things for myself, especially in kickboxing, is accepting that some movements will feel "wrong" and can make one feel silly. Disregard this feeling! Driving a car surely felt awkward at first.

@@MMACoach79 i don't think there is another mma club in town, however the people told me the coach is new only a month in and he is pretty young just transitioned from a fighter to a coach and he loves sparring. But there is an older coach that for some reason doesn't train mma anymore and people told me that he doesn't make begginers spar, and he teaches basics and he really explains things good (I did have one striking basics class without sparring tho). They don't seem like a bad club in fact they are the best in my country from what I can see.

Hi, I have a boy who is very passionate about contact sports (wrestling, muay thai, boxing, MMA) He is 7 years old. I wanted to ask you to tell me what would be the best way to develop his motor skills and to become a complete fighter (if he likes it and further) what would be the order of sports he should follow to develop completely. What should we fill the window of opportunity with between 7 and 10 years old? Thank you!

What motor skills or other things could they better develop now, between 6 and 10 years old, to become a good fighter (which would be harder to develop after that age)? What exactly should we focus on to get the best out of those 3-4 years? Specifically what should and shouldn't we do? Thank you!

Folks - would any of you recommend a fairly fit 40 year old start MMA training? I have no ridiculous thoughts of actually fighting someone or in a cage, its just the training that I enjoy. What would my experience be in an MMA gym at such a stage in life? Thanks!

That depends on the severity of the injury and how much you will be straining your neck. It is best to consult your doctor.

Yes, you can. But bodybuilding will hinder your martial arts training. You would learn quicker if you quit bodybuilding at least for a while.

Try training both for a couple of months, then just train MMA only (or MMA with not many strength training sessions) for a few months. Then you'll see if it works well for you. I see any kind of strength training as a supplement for MMA.

Getting hit in the face is always a go to experience. Like, I could do without it. Do it when your young I say. Later, you"ll avoid it. One broken nose is enough. Unless life and limb is on the agenda, or loved ones, walk away. But be sure of this, you push it too far, oh zi might just destroy you. And i"m not talking nice stuff, like release my inner beast.
