It’s honestly crazy that people are still talking about another rematch between Conor and Dustin. Conor was getting his shit pushed in with that GnP, and after the leg break he should just call it quits.

I don’t think he should retire. That leg break probably was the only way he could lose without his career ending, dustin’s an incredible fighter and I think Conor could probably still do relatively well in the division. I don’t think he’ll be champ again but I think he could win again and that’s all it takes for him to get a title shot (not that he’d deserve it). His career still has a lot of potential

Ufc used to give a mandatory rematch for a ex champ and max would’ve definitely bin a champ who deserved it. I believe the second fight was razor thin and if max can figure him out anymore I think he’d with the third fight but what then? A 4th fight lol

@@onefastr6 - Nope, if anything Wanderlei would have won had judges been involved. Mirko landed some nice middle-kicks (his friggin' toes where imprinted into Wand's side, damn), but Wand still beat him on the feet and & on the ground. The consensus has always been that Wand got a moral victory "draw" in their first fight, but that Mirko avenged it in brutal fashion during the OWGP

Actually Sakuraba and Wanderlei were scheduled to fight a 4th time in December of 2004, but a back injury forced Saku out of the fight so Wand got Mark Hunt (at least 40kg heavier) as a late remplacement and only accepted because Pride gave him 500k (that was a lot at the time)

I went in big on Holly to beat Ronda at 9 to 1 odds. Missed the fight live as I was in a taxi leaving the Melbourne Food and Wine Festival en route to a sports bar in Richmond and had to listen to the audio via my phone. For sure TAB and Sportsbet odds in Australia were 9 to 1.

Diaz vs McGregor 2... literally no purpose except money and favoritism. - Diaz was a late replacement for Dos Anjos. - The fight was a welterweight(neither fighters true weight-class.) - Nate won the first fight definitively. - UFC held the featherweight division hostage, just so Conor could challenge for dual-division champion. At least neither Poirier nor McGregor held a title when they rematched(again), the Diaz rematch put a whole division on hold.

The decline of BJ Penn was especially tough to watch. He was the reason I got so invested in the early days of UFC and MMA in general. I always wanted to see him fight top tier competition but after Frankie Edgar dominated him it was just sad and damn near impossible to watch

Penn has always fought top tier competition, that mileage is bound to harm his career. Pretty amazing how fighters like Lawler, Diaz, Sanchez (until lately) can consistently stay in the UFC albeit losing fights

People’s beliefs override any and all evidence of reality. This is all around us, all the time. LOTS of demonstrations of this recently whether MMA fandom, amateur immunologists, or amateur public health statisticians. In fact, when confronted with actual evidence to the contrary of one’s beliefs, most data shows that it actually leads to strengthening of their beliefs.

The most insane thing was that a fourth fight between Sakuraba and Wanderlei was planned, Saku pulled out due to injury which lead to Wanderlei vs Mark Hunt as a replacement.

Guesses of a few entries on the list, before watching the video: Oliveira vs Lentz (2 or 3?), Dariush vs Ferreira 2, Bisping vs Henderson 2, Rua vs Little Nog 2. EDIT: I struck out on all of these. Their examples are more prominent than mine though. Good job.

@@stonefish7337 yeah fair. They've both absorbed a lot of head shots over the years, but Robbie's only been KO'd twice, many years apart and Nick TKO'd twice, also many years apart. Both are known for good boxing defense, as well as offense. It's definitely still a risk, but I don't think as much as say a Chuck Liddell for example
