Well I'm late, but gee whiz 1:49 is lit 😎 (*EXTREMELY LONG CONCEPT/STORY BELOW*) This video strangely made me think of Suzaku thanks to that fiery effect, one of the Four Gods in Chinese mythos. What I'm thinking is that perhaps MC (Euna) had been blessed by Suzaku in some form at her birth, and there could've been a prophecy of a child born through holy fire, tempered by the flames to give rise to a new era. Maybe the olden-day Koreans were attempting to conquer China, and this prophecy added fuel to the fire. Euna was born a normal, precocious child with inquisitive golden eyes to loving parents of a minor clan in the countryside whom allowed her access to knowledge after seeing her curiosity for what it was: potential rather than a trait wasted on a female (yeah, ye ole sexist days). It was thanks to said curiosity and her penchant for attempting to climb their gate walls in order to get a glimpse outside that she was freely able to go around town with her nursemaid, Areum, in tow. Euna became a beloved child in their area, helpful, kind, if slightly naive and unusually stubborn (such as the time when she was fascinated by swordplay and argued with her father than she wanted to wield one instead of learning to dance - guess who won). The people thought she'd bloom into a fine woman, if not somewhat hard to handle once she was to be married, much to everybody's amusement. All was well, but everybody also knew it couldn't last. The tension between old China and old Korea was growing, with each attack against borders, frequent bandit raids, failed negotiations, and dwindling food supplies threatening to ignite hostilities between them. The community Euna was in struggled, but for the sake of the child they'd grown extremely protective of, they vowed to keep her oblivious to the happenings. Unfortunately for them, Euna was steadily becoming suspicious. Her parents' hushed conversations and the exhausted looks the people wore when they thought she wasn't looking was concerning. She had an inkling of what it might be, but she was uncertain. During the next few days, she started to go around dressed as a peasant boy in search for information, knowing that she may too distinctive if she went by as a small girl. She also casually asked Areum to listen in on the servants' chatter, and the teenaged girl reluctantly complied. It worked well, and through the snippets of drunken banter in bars, around the marketplace, and even in the slums, she was able to piece it together. War was soon to come. More days passed since this revelation, and Euna remained silent on the matter. Unsure. Afraid. She simply burrowed herself into her studies, while Areum worried over her, despite the reassurances she gave. After all, what was a 11-year old child like her to do? This wasn't something she could bullheadedly charge at. Alas, Fate wasn't kind. Inevitably, with their town being far from the capital and its relative closeness to an outpost, they were besieged by bandits. Fearful cries. Burning buildings. Lost lives. ... Only she and her nursemaid escaped, and even then, the heathens' leader didn't like prey escaping. Chased through forests, Areum sacrificed herself and instructs her to head to the next town over the mountains, where her sister resides, handing over a small wooden token that served as an ID, and a small feather charm. Euna's hesitation allowed the bandits to catch up, and in the ensuing nightmare-- They all turned to ashes. In the distance, a phoenix's trills were heard. Euna barely managed to reach the town, starving and dehydrated. Clothes tattered, brown hair shoddily cut just around her neck, and eyes eerily blank, she was the very picture of a war orphan. A guard stopped her, but reluctantly let her through when shown the token. Taking pity on her, the man accompanied her to her nursemaid sister's house, where she was greeted by a very confused middle-aged woman. The woman, Mica, was shocked at the sight of the feather charm hung around her neck, and solemnly hugged the now 12-year old tight. It was the first time in months that Euna shedded tears. The two shared a contemplative moment, before Euna is invited inside. Receiving a change of - amusingly enough to get a chuckle out of Euna - boy clothes, the golden-eyed girl was about to eat when a silver-haired older boy barged in. Blinking at each other, the older boy frowned and accused Euna of being a thief. He was suddenly picked up by the scuff of his collar by Mica, and the boy was introduced as Zen, a runaway who she'd taken in as her own wild son. This would've been the start of a great friendship, but things weren't that easy. Thanks to trauma, Euna had grown quiet and aloof, and saw Zen's behavior as an eerie reflection of her old life. The 15-year old was popular in town, no thanks to his looks and talent for singing at pubs, and despite his flirty nature, was charitable and good-natured. It grated at her, and Zen was getting mildly frustrated at having his offers of friendship rebuffed. This strained their tentative friendship, and the stress reached an all-time high once Zen dragged Euna out to a festival, only for them to be separated. She encountered a few of Zen's friends, who had gleefully remarked about manipulating Zen behind his back, and once they'd spotted her began to insult her weirdness. Euna snapped (because how dare they) and in a brilliant show of reddish-gold light, the group fell at her feet. Zen misinterpreted the incident (and it doesn't help that the group painted themselves as the victims - and that she somehow used some kind of magic on them) and now resented Euna. Annoyed and in disbelief, Euna fought back with biting remarks of her own. Fearing the worst, Mica pulled the two together for them to talk it out... resulting in a shouting match between the two and Euna running away. Mica berated the silver-haired boy, explaining that Euna had gone through hell, and told him to go after her. Obeying - with mumbled complaints along the way - he found Euna... cornered by the same group from before, who had taken none-too-kindly about getting beat. Zen was about to approach when Euna spat out how scummy they were to put on a facade, and one of them noted that Zen was pretty much the same and so why should they be guilty of anything? Angered, Zen charges in and beats all of them up, declaring them as trash and that they should stay away from Euna. They all run. Euna stared in shock at his appearance, since she was gearing up to defend herself, and only laughs. Momentarily furious, Zen snarled at her, and then bursts into laughter as well. Finally, they extended trust to each other. A year passes by, with Zen and Euna as close best friends, and the war finally starting. Meanwhile... News of the prophecy child has been circulating around the country... And the palace takes action. The 14-year old Euna receives an invite to the palace, where the King personally reveals that she may be the one they're looking for. Seeing as there may be plenty of people who may take advantage of her want her dead (the Koreans or some Chinese officials acting for their own nefarious purposes), or maybe even blame her for the sufferings of the land, she was to be inducted into the army as a beacon of hope, and that she has a week to prepare. At home, Zen scowled at the message and asks her not to do it, as he fears that she'll be used as a weapon. Euna replies that she wanted to help fight in the war, so that a loss like her town never happens again. A short fight ensues, and Zen relents... telling her that he'll be joining her if that's the case. The two join the army, and rumors spread like wildfire. The morale boost proved effective, and the ministers demand that the prophecy child immediately start training under heavy supervision. Jumin, the first-born son of one of the most prestigious clans, was assigned as Euna's bodyguard. So, for the rest of the story... First and foremost... HO.LY. CRAP. (0.0) I'm... actually speechless. So many great things about this MMD, I don't know where to begin!!! Second, *GORGEOUS* job as always Ameri-san!! 😍❤ The character models were so pretty and eye pleasing. (Along with the background of course!) But, is that my white-haired prince on the right in a mask? 👏😍 I approve! Third, the effects in this were *TOP* notch. The lighting and camera angles were on point. The one thing that left me speechless was that fan effect. The way you darkened the characters and had the big light behind them was a genius idea, but you added in that beautiful fan effect to give it more flare! The glowing and trail the fan had was so amazing. The music definitely fit right in with the atmosphere you set.
