As a 60 year Bills fan and multi year season ticket holder, we loved Diggs, to a point. There is an old saying, "sometimes the juice is not worth the squeeze". #14 spent 5 seasons with Minnesota, at the end he did and said things that would indicate he wanted out, without actually saying that verbatim. Well, he has been with the Bills 2020 to 2024, 5 years, and guess what? Buffalo is not the place to play those games. It's team first here, no matter who you are. JMHO --gary

Diggs was a big part of their problem. If the play wasnt designed to go to him he would just give up. He wouldnt run routes right which meant other players couldnt get open. So many of these schemes now a days are all about bumping a defender or making them choose a route. Then when you got a guy who wont do his job unless hes getting the ball and it means other people cant get open.

As a bills fan in Buffalo, Josh doesn’t need diggs. If anything Josh plays better when he goes through the progression instead of forcing things to Diggs. Ergo the last 8 games of the season when diggs got less looks but the offense was more balanced. The offense will have Josh Allen, a great Oline. James Cook. Dalton Kincaid and Dawson Knox. Shakir, Samuel, shorter and Isabella. With probably 2 receivers in a receiver heavy draft. The bills will still be a top 7 offense in the league. And if Allen gets yet another 4500 yards and 45 tds without diggs is he gunna be an mvp finally?

They let Morse, Tre (two huge injuries back to back seasons on a massive deal), Hyde, and Poyer go because of their sh*t salary cap situation. Davis would never come back under a lesser deal. They were eventually going to have to pay for their constant restructuring. They have a crazy good foundation with their young core. Two incredibly good coordinators who are loved by the players. They have eleven draft picks this year.. Stop talking about the 2024 season when we haven’t even had the draft 🤷🏼‍♂️ They got a 2nd for Diggs when Keenan Allen (a much better WR) got a 4th. Texans immediately restructuring his deal shows he’s got maybe one more year left. He disappeared the last 8+ weeks with a “potential injury” and ain’t worth that headache anymore. ✌️& ❤️

@@seandouglas6769 if I was a GM I’d take a 2nd over a forth any day. Look at the valuation in their respective drafts (2024 vs 2025) 2nd > 4th. Much better odds of moving up or getting someone solid in the 2nd round, no? And yeah they gave away throw away picks, that are likely to be released or practice squad. So you can compare the values of now vs then, but a 2nd rounder is a 2nd rounder, with much more value to make a change in the organization

The Buffalo Bills decided to trade Stefan Diggs to the Texans, even though it would have been $3 million cheaper to keep him on the team. The Bills' desire a reset year in 2024 moving past off-field drama, and some aging and injury prone players. The Bills offloaded veteran players and will now rebuild around QB Josh Allen, ensuring clean financials and a younger team in the future. The trade also benefitted Diggs, as he now has the opportunity to test free agency after the upcoming season. Overall, the trade was viewed as a strategic move by both teams.

Bills moving to a larger percent of the roster on rookie contracts is not wrong, but 20% of the cap is dead. So expectations this year need to be adjusted. And, they need to draft better on day 1 . Bills and chiefs were both banged up last playoffs but bills by much more. Tell me having half those guys playing vs injured doesn’t stop mahomes once or twice and the bills beat them. Bills have been getti bff destroyed by injuries the last 2 years. Maybe the types of players they have just have high motors and play to crazy and get hurt

Albert, who I respect. Lays it out. Diggs was demanding a new contract, as he did 2 years ago. If he stayed with bills he was gonna cause problems. Also the league tells you his value. The best the bills could get was a 2nd next year.

Great trade by the Bills. They took off when they stopped forcing the ball to Diggs, started running the ball and spread the ball around to their TEs and Shakir. Diggs became an afterthought and they got a 2nd round pick for him. The Bills will be fine.

They keep talking about the return value they got for Diggs in a second round draft pick in 2005, sure there's value giving up a sixth rounder this year and a fifth rounder next year for a second round pick next year but along with the 2 picks they gave away our WR1, who's still a good player albeit a headache, and we still have a massive dead money cap hit. Now that I wrote it out it makes more sense and I can see the value and Diggs had to go, no doubt.

160 targets in 17 games is barely targeted? There were only 5 receivers in the entire league that had more targets than Diggs. He had 17 targets in 2 playoff games as well. He checked out after they lost to the Bengals. And that was before they made a switch at OC.

The Bills were smart to move on from Diggs. Yeah he was good when he actually showed up and he did a lot for the Bills and Josh Allen, but his Minnesota character took off and when that happened it was time to move on. Josh Allen is gonna be Josh Allen even without him because he’s clearly one of the best in the league and when he has the right line in front of him he’s gonna hurt you slinging it down the field or running it doesn’t matter and if they can not get just one, but two good WR in this draft ohh man they will leave right off from late last season. Josh won’t be forced to throw to a certain player and Dalton Kincaid will be utilized a lot more and will be a matchup nightmare just like Brock Bowers will be when he gets drafted this year.

The reality is that when you pay big bucks to the QB, it is going to eventually be a strain on the cap and the team will be forced to move players and their contracts. This will continue to happen until the NFL enacts a top 3 cap. As a lifelong Vikings fan, I have been following the drama and immaturity of Diggs since the beginning. He was the 4th offensive option behind AT, DC, and KR. He was all about himself and a cancer in the locker room. Then he moved on and created the same drama with the Bills! Good luck to the Texans!

Coaching is the only reason the Bills don't have a Super Bowl. McDermott himself had blown 4 games last year where Josh gave him the lead. He got bailed out in both KC games last year from horrendous decision-making that should have been easy. We don't even need to go into 3 mistakes, all fireable on their own, that happened in the KC playoff game. He already fired everybody, including Dorsey, in a game thay HE effed up. The Dunne article is true. Zero accountability. Blames everyone else. He is the primary reason the Bills have not won a super bowl. Second, they have redused to get offensive talent for Allen after Beasely left. Davis and Knox are both drop machines. Finally, they got Kincaid. I hope they actually drop offense in round 1 instead of het ANOTHER first round DB or LB.

It's not complicated. When you have a QB who MIGHT be special, rather than a generational talent, and then you pay him top QB money, things will get shaky. Mahomes can do it clearly, but none of these other guys have proven they can yet. The Bills are in the rough part of the Allen contract. They'll have to trim down on talent and rely on him to carry things for a bit. They'll have to restructure next year, because the cap hit goes from kind of rough in 2024, to devastating in 2025. Then once that settles and they restructure and give him a signing bonus to offset things, they'll have a window from 2026-2028 or so to do some real damage. After that point Allen will be in his 30s, and can either start making the money team friendly to bolster talent to offset his decreasing athleticism, or just kind of hold the team hostage for a while and then retire or move on. It's not like this is the first time this kind of thing has happened. The historical data is there, people just don't like looking at it. But that's why most of your all-time great QBs have 0-2 rings. Because teams think they have a Montana, Brady, or Mahomes, but the reality is they at best have something in the ballpark of a Rodgers, Brees, or a Rivers, and pay them a king's ransom and hope they can offset the lack of talent on the roster and maybe win a championship at some point. This is why true NFL dynasties are rare.
@dorothyhunter4656

No the allen contract doesn't really start to kick in until next year. They kept restructuring it, but they was trying to win the superbowl in that window while josh allen was still on his rookie deal. But u know that hasn't happened yet.
