Our team of MMRF hikers who have been specially selected to form the Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma Alaska team embarked on the trip of a lifetime.
Join us on a journey into the vivid wonderland of the mountainous region that emerges just outside Anchorage - we didn't have to go far to unlock the beauty and mystique that Alaska is famous for. Our journey had us crossing high mountain passes, tagging multiple peaks (sometimes more than one in a day) and glimpsing monstrous glaciers and multiple lakes fed by them. We left gratified with the memories of a lifetime and fulfilled with our Alaska mountain trekking achievements.
We were proud to partner with the experts at Embark Exploration Co, a US-based company and leader in world travel who guided us on this expedition as they have done for our previous Mount Kilimanjaro and Everest Base Camp treks. Note that no special equipment, special training, or any technical climbing is required.
This team was made up of multiple myeloma patients, caregivers, doctors, clinicians, nurses, and others connected to multiple myeloma. This was a powerful and life-changing experience as the team overcame challenges, pushed beyond perceived limits, and honored loved ones and friends living with multiple myeloma.
This MM4MM team is LIVING PROOF that the work being done by the MMRF and our research partners is helping myeloma patients live longer and more active lives.
About the MMRF & MM4MM Program:
MMRF Team for Cures athletes fulfill dreams while making a difference. They take their love of physical activity and channel it into raising funds for the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF), one of the nation's most groundbreaking cancer research organizations. Through support from important programs like MM4MM, the MMRF is helping patients live longer with a higher quality of life than ever before.
Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma (MM4MM) is an award winning collaboration between the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) and CURE Magazine to raise funds and awareness for multiple myeloma research. Teams of 16-20 people are carefully selected to represent a microcosm of the myeloma community: patients, caregivers, family members and others with a direct connection to multiple myeloma. The program is continually expanding to encompass exciting new challenges, and trek options of varying difficultly and length are available to provide a diverse range of options for all interested participants.
Since 2016, Moving Mountains for Multiple Myeloma teams have climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro, hiked the Grand Canyon, trekked the Inca Trail to Machu Picchu, summited Mount Fuji, explored the landscape of Iceland, reached Everest Base Camp, and traversed the peaks of Patagonia. Our team members have raised over $2.7 million, 100% of which goes directly to multiple myeloma research.

This gives me hope. I am a hiker who was diagnosed with non secretory MM in 2023. I had my SCT in December of that year. I long to be back on the trail. It would be an honor to one day join you. Thank you for this beautiful film.
