I think it's something that you naturally pick up if you watch more performances and radio shows? Like you should watch infinite and shinee performances since they're always notoriously live. Then compare those to... um, most 4th gen groups lmao, or just any kpop performance nowadays. If you hear breathing, that's not always a guarantee it's live, since companies add breathing sounds to playback too 💀. For instance, in this video you hear the chorus right? That's playback. The "I'm BEAUTIFULL HEY YEAH YEAH". Live parts are like the rapper and when the main vocalist starts the song and other parts, since it seems mostly live. u should watch sunmi and jyp's performance called disco or smtg. that's all live. watch taemin's mama 2017 move stage, that's also all live, no playback at all. then compare that to um... some stages. I obv wont mention which ones since fandoms can get defensive lmfao. actually fuck it, idc, watch it the boss performance on kbs world, that's all lip sync, I think, or heavily autotuned. most rtk performances (with some exceptions) are lip sync as well, i think, almost none of it is live. actually just watch CL's performance at the olympics. that was all lip sync, for security reasons, since it's required by the olympics. honestly speaking nowadays, there really is no "live" performances, there almost always are pitch correctors or maybe autotune. the only true live performances nowadays with REAL vocals are: mcnd and itzy's live dance practices and um... check out radio shows where groups sings. that's pure 100% vocal, no autotune or pitch correctors. or check out talented singers like the dude from buzz who's also on knowing bros, hongki from ft. island, woohyun from infinite, khyuhyun from suju, sejeong from produce101, eujin from apink-- they almost always sing live. the dude from buzz especially hates autotune lmao, so u can hear his REAL voice. or check out busking videos, since those are 100% live. i also used to have a super difficult time differentiating between playback and real vocals but now i can tell? i think it's just with noticing the vocals. if the vocals are perfect, fake-sounding (lol), and robotic?? then it's usually autotune or pitch corrected. even shows like masked singer and hyiecheol's sketchbook have vocal editing.
