You can't deny that it was used as a hate symbol. The media weren't wrong to report it as such, it was quite obvious. What it needed to be defended from are the people who are actually using it as a hate symbol, and thankfully it's been mostly reclaimed from being used in that way.

He represents us in our various collective daily struggles to get through the day and just live life. Every person can relate to this, there’s always a long list of things that you know you have to do but don’t want to, or that you know will happen but don’t want to happen. That list I feel like gets longer as you get older. And sometimes thing in that list can really weigh down on us, feel like a roadblock to your enjoyment with life. And that’s what Pepe here represents: ourselves making it through or coping with those roadblocks.

one thing about pepe is that he’s controversial, and usually people think that because of antisemetic/racist people who use him as such, but pepe resembles more than that. pepe is controversial because he displays all things human, he’s whatever we want him to be. Artistically he’s been used to back the best and worst of humanity, and what you define as the best and worst is entirely up to the individual. humans hate humans, humans love humans. I find this iteration of pepe to be beautiful because we all hurt, we’re all empathetic. we all hurt together.

I feel like somehow Blue pepe was born that way, and everything he touches goes through it's normal life cycle then dies immediately, so he stays in the woods to not harm anyone, however he still has emotions of course, being so depressed, and seeing those other pepe's walking on a trail, when he picked up the baby bird, to show the pepe's on the trail, instead of using words, being so sad, he wanted others to see his curse of a power, he wanted a hug, to suffice his depression, when he closed his eyes and smile came on his face i feel like that was his first hug, not realizing he killed a pepe, the pepe willing to give him hug, HAS A HEART OF GOLD!!!!

Teacher Pepe is forced by circumstance to allow the dissecting of his own people although he personally doesn't approve, he sees Student Pepe setting one frog free and smiles. Since the frog was given the opportunity to live he becomes Lifeforce Pepe. He either makes this transformation immediately or it's over an unspecified period of time, but either way one evening while walking home from work Teacher Pepe is visited by Lifeforce Pepe who has the ability to remain young by turning other Pepes old and killing them in the process. Lifeforce Pepe cries knowing this could have been his own fate at the hands of Student Pepe if he wasn't set free. Student Pepe knows he is indirectly responsible for this and cries too but is visited by a butterfly, a representation of nature that Lifeforce Pepe also represents. A gross oversimplification given what I gleaned under the influence tbh but it's a base level starting point, the point of even telling this story in the first place and what it manages to somehow get at thematically in under a minute is a completely different topic that I probably could've written a whole essay on in the moment
