Mo’Nique on THE PARKERS making $2 Billion+ and fight with network:
“We were paid $55K per episode for 22 shows. That’s on a hit show. That is unheard of because we are two black women… That show has made over $2B, I’m guesstimating, and you wanna convince us with our percentage we made no money. We can’t allow that to happen. That’s why we’re fighting.”

She made more than the cast of Friends on season 1 and 2, then they made 75k per episode and increased more and more over 10 yrs. Their show had 10 times more viewers than her show. She says that she was dumb and didn’t know anything, she was making over 1 million a year just from one show. I would think you’d hire someone that could get you a better salary, even at my first job at Popeyes I’d know something is up if I didn’t get a raise. Especially if I did my job well.

Friends aired on NBC for 10 seasons, 234 episodes, and was the highest rated show on network television for many of those years. The Parkers was on UPN for 5 seasons, 110 episodes, and wasn't even the highest rated show on UPN. To go further, Friends averaged around 22m viewers per episode in all over its seasons, and was in the top 10 most watched programs on ALL TV every season (being ranked number 1 in season 8). The Parkers averaged around 2.5m viewers per episode, ranking it in around 130. The two shows simply aren't comparable, and there's absolutely no reason why Mo'Nique should've been getting paid Friends, Frasier, or Seinfeld money when The Parkers was not getting that kind of viewership.

The Parker’s is literally my #1 comfort show! Anywhere I can watch/stream it I do! Mainly on Netflix, & Pluto tv. For them to try an convince the STARS of the show that no money was made from said show, is ridiculous!!!! Pay them and the cast what they deserve.

"The Parkers" aired 110 episodes on the UPN network from 1999 to 2004 and never exceeded a viewer market share greater then season 3's 4.26 million (01-02) "The Parkers" averaged 3.24 million viewers per season over its 5 seasons span. The now defunct UPN (1995-2006) network was sold off in 2006 with debt exceeding $1B. Please illustrate to me how Mo’Nique constructed this $800M evaluation (let alone $2B). "The Parkers" would have needed to gross $7.2M dollars in advertisement revenue per episode to achieve this. With such a minuscule viewer market share, 30 second advertisement allotments for this show would have to exceed cost routinely associated with the Super Bowl. All this from a company (UPN) that ultimately went bankrupt and was sold-off....math ain't mathin.

It's been on air on other platforms even after it left UPN. It's on Netflix now for over four years

@@purple_kisses5408 This issue is syndication networks (Netflix, hulu..etc) routinely allocate syndication dollars based on a sitcoms popularity/revenue during its national broadcast tenure. With average viewership at 3.24 million per season during its entire broadcast tenure "The Parkers," is not considered by industry standards a successful show. Netflix and other syndication networks would have to allocate leasing/licensing budgets in the $10's of millions to make Mo'Nique's statement remotely factual.

For real..so trying say not making no money from being on these platforms...I would like to know what they are getting now in residuals ..have to be getting something
@slickdawg5976
@slickdawg5976 4 ай бұрын
@@jameswalton2763 Syndication royalties will vary depending on contract terms and conditions. Yes, actors/actresses can receive royalties from streaming services, but it depends on the contracts they sign with production companies and distributors. Some contracts may include provisions for residual payments or back-end profits based on viewership, while others may not provide any compensation beyond the original payment for their work. Typically, actors negotiate between 2% to 4% of the producer’s gross income from streamed content. Depending upon their bargaining skills and popularity in the industry, this percentage might go up as well if the actor/actress plays a pivotal role that drives traffic on screen. Nowadays with streaming, residuals are paid out every time a show is viewed on a platform based on an agreed upon rate per view in negotiation with the performer’s union. These payments can range from a few cents to thousands or even millions of dollars depending on the success of the show/movie and other negotiation terms. Take "Friends" the 1994-2004 NBC sitcom with an average of 25.1 million viewers per season over its 10-season 236-episode span for example. The show's reruns went into syndication in 1998, and they've never left. According to the Screen Actors Guild (SAG), "Friends" generates $1 billion a year for production company Warner Bros. Of that, Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and David Schwimmer are contractually entitled to 2 percent, which works out to about $20 million for each of them.
