Lin-Manuel Miranda - We Know The Way (Extended) Altered a bit to fit my personal taste :)))

“We tell the stories of our elders in a never ending chain,” Pre-colonial Philippines loved to tell stories and would often pass it down to their children and grandkids through words and not written. I know Philippines has probably a small portion of being Polynesian but that part gave me goosebumps

Our culture is quite diverse if only we manage to keep most of our culture :(

Philippines is actually part of the austronesians, and polynesians came from the same line. so technically, we were once voyagers too, as described in the austronesian migration theory and in our history books of how our ancestors came to be.

@i can't think of a name Scientific research has confirmed that many of the livestock that the Polynesians brought with them had their origins in the Philippines. Also all the peoples from Madagascar, Maritime Southeast Asia and Polynesia are constantly to be Austronesian. I don't its a coincidence that some Filipino customs such as the tattoo art of the Pintados bear a great resemblance to Polynesian tattoos.

I think it's amazing how disney and pixar's movies are making people proud of their cultures. I am proud of my scandinavian heritage, and have been thrilled with the success of How to Train Your Dragon. The fierceness and pride of the vikings and the harshness of their world really reflected in the tone of the movie. I know I am priveledged in that my cultural heritage is more 'mainstream', It makes me so happy to see other people having the chance to experience the same pride and joy.
@marcel8446 жыл бұрын
Sarah Morales I guess it's the old nature rule, the strong will survive. When it comes to cultures it seems like that as well. But keep in mind that for example the Polynesian people had their roots in Taiwan and Asia. So who knows how their culture was before they decided to set sail? How was the culture of us Germanic people before we had the same idea? We evolve and adapt since the beginning of humanity. So don't feel bad for being too cultural mainstream. In the end, we are all on our own voyage called life. We all have to set sail and face our destiny✌

Origins: SAMOA meaning 'sacred heart' or 'sacred center' (Tagata mao'i) --> TAHITI (Ta'ata maohi) --> HAWAI'I (Kanaka Maoli) --> Aotearoa/New Zealand (tangata maori) It's a chain. We literally are one people and it makes me so proud to be Polynesian. Despite all the stupid trivial arguments and disputes between us Polynesians we are all one and the same people. I look at NATIVE Hawaiians, Tongans, Tahitians, Niueans, Tokelauans, Maori's, Cook Islanders and Tuvaluans and see my literal blood brothers and sisters! I am so proud of our heritage and thank Disney for creating a movie that displayed our culture in such a beautiful way!

While this version is excellent, and I really really wish the entire song had been in Tokelauen, the way it was cut for the movie was perfect. The cast on screen stopped singing when the song switched to English to show that this culture is so far removed from the audience that they literally don't speak english. It was really well done!

It's the stars man, before charting and map-making became widespread, all the exploration cultures used the stars to traverse the sea. The stars dont change. To be honest this version is actually way nicer, and I’m a Moana fan... and I don’t want to say this, but this version has something more comforting and solid about it. And of course, obviously the fact that it’s longer is the reason this extension was done, and I think it’s literally amazing, because whenever I listen to the original version I always want more and this version has that part that I always want. Thanks for the version! You: *singing* your welcome!

***** Ancestors are from Africa. Probably 100% African- Nigerian to be exact though i've never been to Africa let alone Nigeria. My mum's from the Igbo tribe in the south east of the country and my dad's Yoruba from the south west. There were some advanced civilizations in or around Nigeria such as the Nok civilization, the Benin Empire, Kingdom of Shonghai, etc. Interesting but not as much as Polynesian culture.

So awesome to see people around the world take interest in our culture. Much love to all! A few similarities I noticed is we have our own native languages, the traditional music and dancing sounds and looks a little like the same, and the obvious similarity is our dark colored skin and being disadvantaged minorities in western colonized countries. That's just my opinion.
