My failed attempt to take over the Mob in The King of Chicago for the Amiga. Released: 1986
Footage in this video is from the Cinemaware Anthology on Steam.
This is another really cool game I got to play via the Cinemaware Anthology. In this one you play as a Mob thug with dreams of taking over the operation for himself. It plays like a choose your own adventure story, online it also called it an interactive computer movie.
I like this style of game because it offers so many unique playthroughs based on the choices you make. I made several attempts before I even managed to get past assassinating the boss. After that it opens up and you can choose different locations to visit. It's pretty unforgiving when just saying or doing the wrong thing can instantly end your game. But it's part of the fun to try different things and see how it plays out.
If I had to nitpick I'd say It does run a little slow and the action scenes aren't super smooth but considering this came out in 1986 it's pretty rad. I read in the steam discussions that at times the Amiga games don't run exactly like they do on the original hardware. Sadly I'm in no position to compare as I haven't played the original. However, I'm completely ok with it.
Do you have any memories of this game? Please share in the comments below, I love reading that stuff.
Thanks for watching!
