Not very scientific at all, are the grooves the same? are they both spotless clean? did you use a spirit level to see if the board is dead level, floors can be unlevel as well as what you are resting it on, the other testing you do is good though and I enjoy your videos but this one is flawed i'm afraid

So you warm the Motul oil up before you place it at the top, plus you add a bit more oil so that it flows easier and faster. Just proves that this test is biased.

i have tried both oils for my astra k 1.6cdti, motul is more silent, and first working is silent. will go for motul next time

same here. my golf mk4 runs quieter on motul. also not as black compared to mobil 1 at regular oil change. motul is on average $15 more than mobil 1 in my area but with the difference i've noticed, I'll stick to motul.

Hi! Which Motul oil would you recommend for a Toyota Verso 2.0 D4D DPF (1AD-FTV), most of the time we use it only for ~100km trips with normal load. ACEA C2 is needed. X-Clean FE 5w30, Eco-Clean 5w30, Eco-Clean 0w30 or other than these? Thanks! G

Hi ! Motul recommends any of those oil for your engine. If the car mostly goes on long trips like you have mentioned, i would go with any of those 5w-30 oils. From my knowledge X-Clean FE is set to replace Eco-Clean 5w-30 and X-Clean 5w-30.

The main difference between the eco-cleans vs the x-clean fe is the general thickness. The x-clean FE is thicker at 40 and 100 C, and has higher hths (3.5 vs 3 & 2.9). As far as I know higher hths = better wear protection but does it a good idea to go for high hths with an engine designed for low hths economy oils?

There are many possibilities for my car. In the manual is written API: SL or SM ACEA: A1-B1, A3-B3, A3-B4, A5-B5, C2 or C3 ILSAC: GF-3 or GF-4 The factory prescribes fully synthetic oil. In a document from the manufacturer, an A5 / B5 oil is recommended but the oil-guide of oil manufacturers often recommend me a C3 oil. I am very confused. The car is a Nissan Micra 80 hp with petrol engine is built in 2012 and also has a catalyst. I do not know which oil I should use the best.

You can use most engine oil, but your has small engine so please use oil A5/B5 5W30 or 0W30 - it's doesn't matter whether C2 or C1 (all engines have catalysts). Engine oils A5/B5 are very good if someone moves mainly in urban traffic.

Hannes, that car is really not worth worrying about. When you sell it you will only get 500 Euros for it so why worry?

Proves nothing. Motul is based on Mobil 1 base stock, effectively the same oil, with maybe minor additive differences.

theloudbloke nope. There are difference between 100% synthetic and full synthetic. Full synthetic oil is base oil+ additive; 100% is all synthetic oil +additive. Full synthetic are just like base oil with some stage of purification and additive. So its trash.

Nicola6892 you clearly can't articulate what you mean. Mobil 1 Base is PAO. This base is used by Motul. The base stocks for both of these products is the same. Got it?

theloudbloke motul have 100% base pao. Mobil have only 5% pao and 50%base oil. Infact in Germany only 100% synthetic oil can have write "100% synthetic". Other that are not really 100% have write "full synthetic". Sorry for my bad English but isn't my langauge so..

I'd love to see some evidence for that. Mobil 1 ESP is Fully 100% Synthetic, look back at court case they had with Castrol with Edge which is a modified mineral Grade III base stock.

In Russia Mobil 1 ESP Formula cheaper, then such kind of Motul 5w30, but its qwality is better (even if don't consider this test).

Omax Om full synthetic is not 100% synthetic. Full synthetic is more filtrate base oil but is still base oil + additive.

Next time you go flying on holiday, look at the brand of turbine oil thats on the side of the truck at the airport. Then ask yourself how much a turbine engine costs in $millions, then how important having the best oil might me due to safety and cost reasons. Then report back.
