Great vid! Headlight Restoration was the only service I provided when I got in the game. That service started my detailing and pressure washing setup. From then to now I had to bump the price and still getting hits. After doing quite a few getting warm and fuzzy with it, my time cut back so I be knocking them out quick

Don’t for get the taillights. They never look as bad as the headlights but once polished out you can see the difference.

hello I been doin headlight restore for my family cars and been doing the helmsman spar urethane method.the results are prefection except here in arizona they dont last but a few summers.i really prefer the wipe on clear coat method aposed to spray on and this helmsman spar urethane you dont need to polish the headligh only wetsand up too 3k grit and apply...i want to start doing this for customers but i want somthing more professional grade that lasts.and i prefer a wipe on type clear coat,i found gclear thats $60 just for 8ounces and will need a uv light to harden it.should i go this route or are their other options for wipe on uv clear coats?

I know this is an old video but, I wanted to mention that you could up sale the price with different protections. Like wax after a polish lasts between 6 months up to 1 year with proper detail maintenance. But, with a ceramic coating it can last for 1+ years with proper detail maintenance and that would be your up sale because a good ceramic product can be costly.

Dont know the exact name but they usually comes as a kit. Most headlight restoration kit have one.

Never use a kit, I buy my pads and sandpaper from Amazon. 3 inch buffing pads.

I normally use the 800 grit to start then 1500 and 2000 to finish and start polishing with a mid cutting compound also recommend to taped around the head lights to avoid scratches on paint that will save u time.👍

So many methods will give good results. I've used only compound & polish and got good results.

@@Angel_Peg I lot of them do. Those compound & polishing pads are pretty stiff so that's the reason the lights are coming out good.

Do you need to seal the headlights with anything so they won't fog or haze again? In your experience how long will they stay looking good for?

Yes. You need to put a clear coat after. Some use sealants others use ceramic coatings. If you dont they will have up in 4 to 6 months

I would stick with meguairs or chemical guys for the final step. See what The Headlight Restoration pro does!! I would also add green 3m tape

Love the hustle!! But this method will only last about a year or two and they will start getting yellow… the correct way to do it is to re clear the headlight. With this method, there is nothing to protect the plastic headlights from the elements

So my process goes like this, I wet sand the headlights with 3 different grits of sand paper, then I wash them off, then wipe them down with a tack rag, mix my clear coat/activator, spray a light clear coat layer... then give it two more coats.

Clear coat will be all scratched up in 6 months & crack..easy to just protect with a ceramic coating..I done 2k Clear coats & looks amazing but longevity still in question..a restore with aftermarket Clear coat will cost more on the next restore..the reason factory protective layers last longer #1 people take care of a car they're making payments on like Washing, waxing & try to keep it looking new Like I said no matter what you do Clear coat ,ceramic coating or PPF they all have to be maintained..( dumb blonde ) I don't change my oil cause it's just going to be back dirty in 6 months so why bother

I’ve done cars that still look good 7 years later… I’ve not had anyone come back and say it didn’t last… I charge $80 to do it. Let’s say that it only lasts 10 years… rarely do people keep their car for 10 years, and if they do… $80 was a good investment for 10 years of headlights looking new. I’d have to see some hard data if you want me to believe clear coat won’t last and will be all scratched up in 6 months. lol… I can provide pics of a 2001 Silverado I did for my cousin in 2014-2015 that still look brand new.

@@AAProfessionalServices Google it pls, there are plenty of videos showing the right way to do it. To be honest, your video does a proper job regarding headlight lens restore, but without masking the adjacent area, you are risking burning the paint or polishing the matt plastic parts around it. So, if you wanna do it right, mask around the lights first.
