Mobile laser hardening at the highest level: our latest success story!
We successfully hardened four 14-metre-long and 25-ton pressure sleeves for an open-die forging press directly at the customer's premises using laser technology!
Project highlights:
• Material: 42CrMo4
• Surface hardness: 550 HV (52 HRC)
• Hardening depth: up to 1.5 mm
• Hardened surface: 30 m²
• Total length of the hardness tracks: 850 m (at 828 m, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai is currently the tallest building in the world)
• Processing time : 55 hours
Tests carried out in advance:
• Determination of surface hardness and hardening depth on sample components
• Evaluation and approval by the customer
Why laser hardening?
There are no alternative processes that are comparably economical and efficient:
• Nitriding: low hardening depth, uneconomical
• Flame hardening: low automation capability, low quality and cooling required
• Induction hardening: cooling required
• Oven curing: uneconomical, long process time
Our customer is delighted with the quality and efficiency of the hardening process. Thanks to the extended service life of the pressure sleeves, maintenance is minimized and productivity maximized - a real game changer for the forging industry!

Mobiles Laserhärten auf höchstem Niveau: Unsere jüngste Erfolgsgeschichte!
Wir haben vier 14 Meter lange und 25 Tonnen schwere Druckhülsen einer Freiformschmiedepresse erfolgreich mittels Lasertechnologie direkt beim Kunden gehärtet!
Projekt-Highlights:
- Material: 42CrMo4
- Oberflächenhärte: ca. 550 HV (52 HRC)
- Einhärtetiefe: bis zu 1,5 mm
- Gehärtete Fläche: 30 m²
- Bearbeitete Länge: 850 m (mit 828 m ist das Burj Khalifa in Dubai das derzeit höchste Gebäude der Welt)
- Bearbeitungszeit: 65 Stunden
Vorab durchgeführte Versuche:
- Feststellung der Oberflächenhärte und Einhärtetiefe an Musterbauteilen
- Auswertung und Freigabe durch den Kunden
Warum Laserhärten?
Es gibt keine alternativen Verfahren, die vergleichbar wirtschaftlich und effizient sind:
- Nitrieren: geringe Härtetiefe, unwirtschaftlich
- Flammenhärten: geringe Automatisierbarkeit, geringe Qualität und Kühlung erforderlich
- Induktionshärten: Kühlung erforderlich
- Ofenhärtung: unwirtschaftlich, lange Prozesszeit
