Gundam Wing sucked. I hated it. I got into Gundam because of Mobile Suit Gundam on Toonami. Watching Char's Counterattack on Adult Swim remains my favorite TV viewing night to this day because it put an amazing end to the Amuro and Char rivalry, and that was years before I got to see Zeta and Double Zeta. I don't even get what people liked about Wing. It was boring, repetitive, and talky.

How about you stop demanding others to "be honest" and acting like everyone is you, because newsflash, they're not. The pacing can't possibly be slower than, say, Doctor Who, Star Trek, and Mission: Impossible, and those shows still managed to be engaging and exciting. Not to mention, many Japanese shows of this time period were very fast paced, so I can't expect Gundam to be THAT much slower. Calling something "dated" is a detracting and superficial way of pointing out its age, a factor which should not be considered an imperfection. Imagine making a show in 1979 just to call it "dated" 40 years later. You're essentially saying it's too indicative of its time period to be any good, which is kooky talk. And no, the visuals for Gundam weren't and aren't "dated," not "even then." They're pretty standard for their time. Anime of this time period is even far more expressive than any of the ones nowadays, and the ships in this show are considerably detailed. And saying that this "makes it look like the coolest shit ever" isn't saying much, considering it probably already is. Also, if it's "the coolest shit ever" to you, then that makes all your previous criticisms highly contradictory and illogical. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

I remember getting pissed off because I stayed up to watch it but only later realized the vcr hadn't recorded it and it would be years before I'd get to see it again. I don't understand why they took MSG off the air when they left lots of other shows about war and fighting on. It was a completely arbitrary decision,

The real reason the series was pulled of was because of declining viewership ratings due to Mobile Suit Gundam's old and dated animation. 9/11 was just an excuse to justify pulling it from the airwaves.

I don't know if he was in Mobile Suit Gundam -- he was, however, Toonami's original promo and bumper voiceover guy. So he did every one of these from Mobile Suit Gundam to Hamtaro for the first two or three "phases" of Toonami.

Late response, but Amuro is actually Canadian since in the original series he didn't reunite with his mom until after Garma's death and with white base on their way to Odessa by Asia. In the origins version his mom lived in California.

Personally, I found it quite riveting: Three years after the one-year war, the remnants of Zeon discover the Federation is developing nuclear weapons, in violation of the Antarctic Treaty, steal one of those weapons (along with the Gundam it was attached to), and wage one last attack on Federation that is completely successful in ultimately destabilizing the Federation (Zeta) and giving birth to Zeon's second coming (ZZ and CCA).

Joseph Kerr Okay, just to go into what you mentioned in that paragraph- 1. The Antarctic Treaty was really only relevant during the One Year War, and Zeon had already broken it at least once when M'Quve panicked over Amuro wrecking his shit, so they're making a way bigger deal about it than they should. 2. The theft of that Gundam consisted of a Zeon ace literally just walking into the Albion's hanger, climbing into the suit, and walking out with it, with absolutely no resistance offered until after his escape was already halfway complete. This is one of many displays of protagonist incompetence necessary to move 0083's trainwreck of a plot forward, and it really only got stupider from there. 3. Operation Stardust ultimately served no purpose at all but to provide a reason for the Titans to exist- in fact, Axis Zeon outright refused to take advantage of the fact that two thirds of the Federation fleet had been annihilated by a single nuclear strike (which is in and of itself complaint-worthy, as that particular scene was physically impossible in so many ways it gave me a headache thinking about it, especially considering how much smarter CCA was about it). Seriously, I could write an essay about all the ways in which 0083 is a terrible series. About the only things decent about it were some of the original mecha designs and relatively fluid animation, and even then the series wasted it on rather poorly-plotted fight scenes.

Lots of red tape around that era. It was around Sept 11th so shows with collateral damage were brought to a minimum. DBZ skated by because it was "fantasy violence". Even though this was a little into the Android saga. I guess since it didn't have that war aspect like Gundam did it got by. Later they ended the series by showing it's final season the premiered the movie Char's Counter Attack, and eventually showed most of the UC series.

@@deviousj5868 well... Not that much Red Tape in that time. Things were pretty lose before 9/11. But after 9/11, that's when things became more strict but they use the event to slide that anime off the air due with low ratings.
