I’ve run my 200a tig/stick welder on 110v using 300’ of 10 ga drop cords off of my generator on 30a plug in and off engine drive. Definitely doable. I love taking my kid as a laborer on jobs. Nice job!

I tell my kids the same thing I can warn them till I’m blue in the face. But until they get hurt they don’t understand what you’re really talking about. I was tough love ( I’m old school) and it taught me a lot more than any book could ever. And I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I don’t think I have ever seen any of your kids running around without proper ppe when needed

Even though I’m a Milwaukee Guy, I also own that same Dewalt Table, in fact I have 2 of them, and I can attest to the fact that it will hold 800 Lbs for sure, because I say an Eaton-Fuller 13 Speed Transmission on one of mine, and it sat there all day long with no problems. Milwaukee doesn’t make a Table like this or i would own it. I loved the Tough Love part of the Video. We are very like minded Guys. That’s probably why I like your Channel so much. No BS, straightforward just the way it ought to be. That and the fact that I’m a Welder/Fabricator also.

We run Miller Maxstar 161 s and STL these in my welding classes at school. There great little machines. I have students on them all day running. Some of them I have going on 5 years in my classes.

I didn’t watch the whole video while I’m commenting this, so I’m not sure if you figured it out later in the video or not. But if you’re using a 110 extension cord, your stick amps will max out at 90, but tig will go all the way up to 160 amps. In order to run up to 160 amps for stick you have to use a 220 cord and your tig amps will still be able to go up to 160. It has never really made sense to me, but I hope this helps

Hey man! Been working a lot so just catching up on your last couple videos. 15 mins in gotta say congrats on the welder purchase and I know the shipping cost sucked! We have a max star that my grandpa got years ago and they are bad ass little machines. Like you said hard case Tig lift arc 120/220 make it awesome. My first experience with it I was working for my grandpa during the summers in middle/high school and we had to do a ton of welding on a turbine in the bottom of a hydroelectric mill. He crawled down a 40ft extension ladder and I lowered the max star down to him on a rope. He gave me a 22 rifle and told me to shoot any snakes that swam towards the area he was working and that was my job for the week. It will burn 1/8 7018 all day with no hesitation. Glad to see your business and family growing from one small family business to another!!!

when l was learning to weld as a young man (9 years old ) my dad told me to always wear boots . l didnt listen and wore my vans all the time untill a big piece of slag landed between my big and second toe on my left foot . l still cant wear flip flops to this day, but l never go to a job without my boots . somtimes hard lessons are the best. keep up the fabri-haters section

Nice work, what weve done if you only have enough lead to get one stinger out there, cut some 2x4s or whatever you can find about the depth of the joists and tap them under the angles to hold them up. Then clamp angle drops or whatever you have on hand to hold the other angles on

Good video. Would be interesting to know what your mistaken assumptions were....... Did you think the job would go quicker. If so, what was the difficulty. Did you think it would be 2 hours per unit and it took 6 hours per? Was it measuring and cutting that took longer or did the welding slow you down? Could you have fabricated up on the lift?

Most bar joints manufacture will not let you weld on a joist unless it’s with the direction of the top or if installation of point load angle…

I loved the habri-haters. lol im going to use that. and i coudnt agree more. very well said. some of the best lessons ive learned came from failing and from pain and the hard way. obviously you dont want to kill your kids but letting them feel pain is a good thing. keep on raseing them right and to try. not be afraid of failure and learn from thair mistakes and move on. and as far as flash burn even now now as a welder ive been wellding since i was 9 and im 30 now ive done it. its not fun, but life keeps going it happens even if its an accident you walk up on someone at the wrong time or whatever.

What’s the duty cycle on that little miller? I have an engine drive set up now but looking at getting something to run off 110v for situations similar to yours. Thanks in advance

It's a pain getting caught on Pricing a job. You can take some comfort that everyone in business will take a hit at some point. The only thing you can do is lessen how often this happens. It does really piss you off when it does happen. But, we are human and we make mistakes 👍

Advise me on what type of extension cord you used. Most of the info I've heard or read on running extension cord(s) to welders (110 Volt) is no less than #12 cord and no longer than 25 feet on you will loose amps. I current use a #12 on my 110v/220v wire welder at 25ft and it works good. But you indicated a height of 47ft high also to include length to a plugin. Interested in the knowledge you have on this.

Ah yes, RTU frames. Your neck and shoulders hurt yet?😏 I’ve done a few in a couple of Amazon warehouses which is what that looked a whole lot like.You seem very well thought out so I’m sure you have your reasons but I wonder if maybe the Miller Multimatic 220 AC/DC might have been a more useful choice.

6010 rods need a slightly higher voltage that almost all of the smaller inverters don't produce. That's why they run 6011 but not 6010.
