An absolute tragedy the Sycamore Gap tree is now no longer. I adored this movie- my history teacher played this for us in our last few lessons for the year after our exams in 1992. Such fun.

I was 12 when Robin Hood came out. It was a really great period for movies between around 1988 to 1995. Just in 1991 when Robin Hood came out alone, there were a ton of great movies. I loved this movie then and still do to this day. Is it completely historically accurate? No. Does Kevin Kostner even attempt an English accent. No. Is some of Alan Rickman’s performance a little over the top at times? Yes. Is it a little mainstream, right down to the Bryan Adams song at the end? Yes. But you know what? That’s okay. It’s just a fun and satisfying popcorn movie, and it’s not completely without some historical merits too. As for the title song, I honestly still love it, and most of Bryan Adams music. I think that song eventually took a lot of flack and dislike only because it was overplayed a little. But it really was a good song. I can remember on the original VHS for this movie, in the credits while “Everything I Do” played, they had a Bryan Adams music video for it in the background, shot I believe in the same woods as tree village sequences. Even with special features on discs and the vastness of the internet today, that music video is surprisingly difficult to find. Robin Hood was absolutely everywhere though when it came out. Theaters, VHS later at home, on the radio with the theme song, multiple video games, novelizations, collector cards, toys, you name it. Heck, Morgan Creek even used the very start of Michael Kamen’s great score over their logo that appeared before movies for years after Robin Hood. Just good times.

@@angelsworld1733 Hey, Bryan Adams wasn’t just for the ladies. He was an 80’s rocker. I don’t know why he’s had this unjustified reputation that way. He’s a talented guy, and there are tons of completely heterosexual guys like me who like his work.

I have just about every Robin Hood movie or documentary available on DVD. This is one of my favorites of them all. Was it historically accurate of course not because there's no real proof Robin Hood ever really existed. More than likely he was a combination of many different stories based on some real people but mostly fictional stories and legends. It was great to see these filming locations are still well known and visited since it's been 32 years since it came out. It was movies like these and a love of history that started my collecting of Medieval swords and armor. My little sister once said I'm the only person she knows who turned the inside of a log home into a castle. 😊

I make the odd video and have researched these locations and live in England and have even done the odd one BUT: Berkshire Kent Wiltshire North Yorkshire The Yorkshire Dales Northumberland Is as pretty much as long a trek as you can do in this country, might be a hop, skip and a jump in America but seriously a lot of miles and you did an amazing job.
