Excellent video! I just picked up one of these GoGo scooters a couple of weeks ago cheap because "it was broken". New batteries (lithium this time, and a lithium battery charger) and away we went. Couple of suggestions - when you put the electrical connector back on the frame you mentioned that it can be aligned using the scratches on the frame. Would have been helpful to point those out. Second, start using BLUE Loctite thread locker on everything. For those unfamiliar with Loctite, the Blue is meant to come apart again. It's stiff but it can be unscrewed. The RED Loctite is permanent. You're into angle grinders and acetylene torches to remove bolts put in with red. Don't use red. Again, great video, and thanks!!

Thanks. Where did you get the lithium ion battery- that would be great to have. For the electrical, hopefully the video was clear, but yes, these videos aren’t that easy to do. Great idea with the locktite blue, will get some. I think the wheels where put on with blue and I still couldn’t unscrew the bolt luckily I didn’t have to.

@@tongmovies Not sure if you got my other replay, so I'll do it again. The batteries (12V 15Ah Lifepo4 Battery Lithium Ion Deep Cycle Energy Storage) and lithium battery charger (24V Scooter Charger 29.4V 5A Charger for 7S24V Li-ion Battery XLR Connector) came from Amazon. Had to open up the scooter's battery lugs on the wiring just a little to take the slightly larger lithium battery terminal screws. These lithium batteries are maybe half the weight of the lead-acid's!! That charger has the correct XLR connector on it and it just plugged into the scooter and charged the lithiums. I bought a used Snap-On battery powered Impact Gun on Ebay several years ago and after getting it rebuilt along with new lithium Ion batteries, it makes short work of recalcitrant bolts. It loosens bolts my air powered impact gun won't move.

Thanks for putting this video up on your KZfaq channel. My wife has a Pride Apex Rapid, but it has a similar if not the same Transaxle. One of the wheels stopped rotating. I followed your video and stripped the Axle down. The part which was broken, was a Needle bearing in the Aluminium bracket that retains the Shaft to the frame, Pride in the Uk do not sell this part separately, and that I would need purchase a new translaxle, motor and brake at a cost of £350. Thanks to your video the costs were as follows, all parts purchased on eBay 1off Needle bearing £3 2off Oil seals £5 1off A4 sheet to Gasket Sheet £1.50 Total cost £9.50 The apex is running very smooth and quiet. Cheers

I'm happy that it worked for you! I made this video because there basically weren't any (except for kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eM-jd85ykp6rm3k.html). Like you said, didn't want to spend hundreds of dollars if it was only a few dollars for a bearing. I reused all my gaskets and seals. I couldn't find any of the gear parts anywhere online - if anything else went bad, no choice but to buy a new transaxle.

Metric caliper to get correct sizing, cage bearings, ball bearings, and seals. Contact Eurton Electric to get lead on any replacement gears. Use #2 red and tacky grease to reassemble, and quiet she shall be. At first, I replaced only ball bearings, but it was the cage bearings making the loud roar. ` I"m seeing one washer at 10:10 and you mention a second washer at 10:50. I didn't have to take those bearings off, so I don't know. There was a pin holding the axle, but you would have seen that. Another suggestion is removing the wheel, but I wasn't able to do that because the nut was so tight - that's why I didn't remove the wheel from this video because I couldn't - lucky I didn't have to.

I've not striped down the motor. I've only done what's on the video. By the way, if it's making the same sound, stop driving it or even moving the wheels. It could damage the corkscrew drive spindle beyond repair. I've looked, but I cannot find any parts for this transaxle except for the wheel bearings. So if anything else fails/breaks, we're out of luck, you've got to replace the entire unit for over $300. At a certain point, if would be cheaper to buy two or three used scooters for spare parts.

Good video: very informative except for the cleaning....as an ex automotive mechanic, I always cleaned all parts with a diesel/varsal mixture, before reinstalling any new parts. Especially old oil/grease, that retains old metal filings. I shutter by seeing not just this vid, but others as well, where nothing was done to clean and replace the old contaminated grease/oil with fresh oil/grease, or even new oil/grease added. The life of the part would benefit greatly if this were to be done.

No it hasn't. If you're sure the battery is good, it probably something else. That's going to take a bit of troubleshooting. Could be a loose connection, controller going bad, sticky dials. Try to toggle the Neutral/Drive lever many times - could be sticking. Toggle the paddles (when it's off) many times. Turn the speed dial back and forth many times.

@tongmovies
@tongmovies 2 жыл бұрын
About the only repair you can do is to replace those two bearings. Check the spindle and gears to see if the got damaged. If they are damaged, you’re out of luck. I don’t know anyone who sell those parts. Also make sure you don’t have any damaged pieces left inside. You could also buy a used scooter for cheap and use the parts from that. Or buy a new transaxle but that’s about $400.

I have the same transaxle on my scooter and the outside needle bearing failed on the transaxle housing. I replaced both needle bearings and proceeded to put it back together. Everything goes together fine except for the 4 washers (2 thin and 2 thick). I cannot determine where each washer installs on the shaft. I think the larger washers go on each housing up against the housing with the pins on top of them. I put the smaller washers on top of the gears that fit into the pins on each housing. It all looks like a good fit but I cannot get the housings together all the way. Any help on where these 4 washers go would be very appreciated.
@tongmovies
@tongmovies 3 жыл бұрын
If you look at 13:45, perhaps that's the issue - pull up? Also there shouldn't be more than 1 washer per section. And I think I only had 3 washers. I don't believe I had a washer between the gears at 10:41, which I thought was strange - notice how flush it is. The extra washer could be at the outer edges.

@nickcarter9538
@nickcarter9538 2 жыл бұрын
I think there should only be 3 washers, one behind the pin on each axle ( this pin stops the shaft pulling out, and takes the power from the gear to the shaft), make sure the gear seats properly with the pin buried inside the gear, the longer shaft then requires a third washer on top of the gear; this is just a spacer and may be the reason you've got 4 washers, are they all the same thickness; if you'v got two thin ones put them here. Next you must put the differential unit on the long shaft, make sure it's meshing properly with the axle, finally put the two parts back together, you can't put a washer between the short shaft and the diff' as there is no projecting shaft for it to sit on.

You can hear the noise. Technically it was rideable. However, after taking it apart, it’s apparent that it was a very bad idea to do so. Even to push it around. Running it will damage the spindle.
