Sitting here in 2021, and English-born US citizen listening to a cover of an Icelandic singer's song by a great band from Indonesia. I love the internet.

Actually, according to Bjork's explanation of the song being about the early stages of a serious relationship, where you're still only wanting to show each other just the "good" parts of yourself, as in, if you get angry, you don't want to show it, so you go out and throw things off of a cliff, like cutlery, and it calms you down so you can just have a nice conversation with each other in the morning! The whole body off a cliff thing doesn't actually represent suicide at all, but rather the gears and exilerations of that relationship! I'm paraphrasing her, but trying to remember as much as possible! Jules Holland has an interview on here with her about it, and there should be a couple of others as well. Once I heard her explain it, this song just made so much more sense, and it was already my favorite! But it deepened the meaning and made it more personal! So I applaud this group very much so, because I believe they got the basic meaning behind it and tried to show others by changing that simple lyric and making it a dreaming state! Very creative indeed! But if you notice, this is the one song she can never sing all the way through as it is on the album, even during the Post era! (And yes, I know she loves to change things up, but I'm leaving those moments out!) But do look it up if you're interested! Plus it's always interesting to see an interview with her anyways,lol! i never knew bout this cover... but its soothing... as a die hard fan of Bjork, i’d say that this cover is brilliant.

I've checked every cover of this song and this is the best. Mocca has done an original interpretation of Bjork's music. I believed they have even gone so far as to put it in the context of their own culture.

I know this song from my sister who introduce me with Mocca. This is the song from Colours Album. I just heard it couple times and already got stuck in my head from my childhood moment. But idk why they don't put it on Spotify. Every song in the Album is there but not this. Maybe some copyright reason idk. Hope they still working to put this one on any digital platform. Like many of you said in comment section. This is one in a million!!

This is a good cover for Bjork's song. Bjork and Mocca have the different ways to express the song. Bjork sang the song by her soul, but Mocca sang easier to listening. I do not insult and mock Bjork, she is the composer the song by so much artistic, i must appreciate this band tried to sing with own style. I think Bjork's songs are very popular, so many musicians sing her songs by their styles, Bjork is so great and lots musicians always admire her.

I get the feeling that this song was a labor of love for the lead singer. I can imagine the faces in the rehearsal room as the lead singer plays the original to the band saying "I want to cover this". Nice cover, beautiful clean voice.

Still, I'd rather say Mocca's work on Hyper Ballad is very well done. And I really mean it! It also provides a good introductory point to their other, more upbeat, songs. Thanks to Mocca, and thanks to you to show interest in Indonesian old values.

I first listened to this song when I was still a college student. I saw Mocca performing this song at Dago Tea House and weeped in silent. That was 12 years ago and I still listen to this song occasionally.

I knew Hyper Ballad for the first time from this cover and it always amazes me, sounds warm and it has a very deep meaning. For someone who never knew Bjork like me, probably they'll tend to love this cover version than the original one.

I always think that Bjork's songs are very hard to sing and not many people can cover her songs. But this time, Mocca has really done it on its own style. Nice job!

i swear, björk fans are one of the most butthurt fanbases out there. I love björks music as much as everyone else does but you don't need to insult other musicians (not only this band). All over youtube, cover artist are being mocked for singing a song of their high priestress björk. Music is there to be shared and if your sensible ears can't take a cover, don't even search for ones.

Fascinating thought you've got there. As the person who live in Indonesia, I perceive this concept of Hyang's long lost among the urbanes. All who still hold to this philosophy are the (really) older generation or ones who still live in secluded places, unfamiliarized by modern technology. Given this predicament, it's rather hard to connect Mocca with Hyang. I purely think Mocca only tries to pull out as much feeling from the lyric, and this composition is the one which happen to appeal most.
