Are you joking? Or do you have standards below the norm? It took him over a minute (to travel 10 metres)...at a snails pace..while not obverving properly. How is that good? I know lots of people prefer to be positive than negative...but saying that parking was good is just deluded.

An interesting mock test and a bit concerned that Mahfuz, after 100 hours of driving lessons, seems to be unaware of general traffic flow and awareness of surrounding vehicles. He should take onboard many of Aman's excellent feedback and ideally book as many lessons with Aman to iron out most of his driving faults and more importantly be ready to pass the real driving test.

I’m really disgusted by all the negative (and boastful!) comments here. Some of us do just struggle, and eventually he will get there. I’ve probably had almost the same number of lessons but I have found that I have up and down days and sometimes I nail it and sometimes I don’t. I’m a teacher myself and recognise that progress isn’t always linear. I don’t have access to any car to practise in between lessons and only have lessons on a Saturday and not every week either, maybe like this chap. I feel so disheartened reading this and especially as I failed my first attempt at the test the other day. I passed the theory first time, some of us just struggle with practical things like this. Perseverance and determination can go a long way and I hope this guy will pass, if just to prove the naysayers wrong!
@FirstLastx1

I'm sorry but I have to disagree. First of all, putting yourself out there like this on the internet where everyone can judge you is respectable; he is very brave. But like many of the comments have said, his driving progress shouldn't be at this level after 100 hours of lessons. He could be the nicest person on the planet, but let's be realistic, that has nothing to do with his driving ability. Sometimes driving just isn't for everyone. I'm sure there are plenty of people out there that don't belong on the road, for whatever reason, and that's okay. But this isn't a video game. It's not like learning how to play football. You can continue learning, sure, but if someone just doesn't get it, then they don't get it. Driving is literally life and death. People's lives are at stake. I'm not saying the guy in this video won't ever reach a point where he'll be able to pass his driver's test and drive on his own. I really hope he does, but this video and the amount of time he has put in already, and still not understanding basic traffic laws, is extremely concerning.

@Rosa Meijering You sound like you were just like him. Let me just explain. It's a vehicle he is supposed to be learning to drive, not learning to fly a 747. If you need more hours than your average learner driver, (100 in his case) then you should consider investing in a bicycle, and in answer to your question, no, I'm not angry, I'm just saying some folks are not cut out to being competent at driving safely, he will fail his driving test if he continues to look disinterested in even listening to his instructor, which will look bad on the instructor because they teach how to drive safely so they can earn that pink card to use until they're 70 years old before you renew your driving licence. He has no concept of what it takes to become a safe driver. He will fail his test, time after time, after time.

you cant look at how many hours of lessons people of had because the quality of teaching varies from instructor to instructor, not to mention every one learns at different speeds, learners with prior experience from driving with family and friends will more often learn faster than someone who doesn't have access to a vehicle or a sibling/parent that drives - i failed my test today because of 1 consistent minor mistake (driving to close to the left 'Shaving') I made this mistake throughout my entire test and though i whole heartedly accept and take responsibility, I was never actually taught that i needed to keep a car doors length away from parked vehicles at no point in my entire 60+ hours of learning (over 2 years on and off) - so i genuinely needed to have this test and fail to even realise my errors, so I advise all learners to be mindful that they are not wasting their time and money, make sure your instructor is actively teaching you, always speak up and if theres anything you arent confident with let it be known as soon as possible

This man will be perfect some day, you can tell he absolutely wants to learn. Tried to do things right, but inadvertently made it more difficult for himself and others (passing places). After 100 hours, I assume that's 100 lessons? I would expect a little more experience of things like this, but my own opinion is that he definitely can do it, but needs a better instructor than whoever he was previously going too. Some people learn at a slower pace, so don't beat yourself up about it. Be confident in yourself and relax a little more. At the end, you knew all the places where you went wrong, so you do know how to do it, it's just taking it from theory and putting it into practice (excuse the pun). Best of luck going forward (and reversing 😉). Aman is a great instructor and even though I have my licence years, I passed first time, I always learn something new. Aman is invaluable, and her calm demeanor is a big plus, as I've seen other driving school channels and a certain instructor is extremely condescending. Well done all.

As a driving instructor for 22 years in and around London, I worked with 3 franchise company’s. One offered 1, 3 and 5 day intensive courses with a test at the end. It was debatable whether or not they were effective for pupils or merely a money spinner for the school. I think the 5-day ‘guaranteed-pass’ was a bit of a con however, for obvious reasons. I did one of these with a guy who unfortunately had very poor spatial awareness and hand/eye co-ordination. Even after 5 days he was unable to even emerge safely onto a major road. Obviously I could not let him take the booked test at the end and I advised him to continue with two normal lessons a week as the intensive nature of the week was obviously too much of a strain on him….(and me)! When I arrived back at the office, I was infomed that he had booked and paid for a second 5 day intensive course. At £600 a time, (2005), he had now spent £1200 with little hope of passing a test anytime soon. I had to repeat the 5 day course with him, which made absolutely no difference because he was still very erratic and unable to even take the test. I even advised him to cancel and seek a refund (which would have made me very unpopular with the boss,) but he insisted. So anoth)er week of stress did us both no good at all. Although quite extreme, this was not an unusual scenario.

why didnt you jsut teach him how to drive in a few days? I am not an instructor but have taught 5 of my friends to drive in 4 hours each time, with no prior experience, a day before their test. And every single one passed. Driving is easy asf if you just explain it to them correctly. Most instructors dont want them to pass because then they lose a revenue source.
@tahira9569
@tahira9569 Жыл бұрын
@@spanishjohn420you cant just teach someone to pass their test with just a few days of practice! Its very rare that this would work for someone. Stop blaming instructors at the end of the day it comes down to the learner how quickly they pick things up and progress. I have some students who have progressed quite quickly after 4/5 lessons and then there are some that are struggling to do a basic left/right turn even after 5/6 lessons. we are not trying to make more money out of people but to teach them to drive correctly and pass the test.
@spanishjohn420
@spanishjohn420 Жыл бұрын
@@tahira9569 Well, from my own experience, when I was 16 i had driving instructor until I was 18, we did two years of one lesson a week and I didn't learn a thing, I could drive but only prompted I had no idea how gears worked or when or why I should shift gears, no idea what I was actually doing with clutch was just pressing when he told me to press. That went on for two years £50 a week and he obviously had loads of other students with which he did the same. Their job depends on you not passing the test to keep doing lessons. So over those two years I did not learn to drive at all and could only do what I was told to do whilst driving. When I was 23 I decided I needed to get a car so I interviewed a few different instructors and found one great guy called Tecle who I did a 2 week course with, 2 hours a day every day for 2 weeks with test at the end. And passed with 2 minors. What I described with the first instructor is the norm, not an anomaly. The reason the second instructor was so good was because he basically explained exactly how the engine works and what I am doing when pressing the pedals and why to shift in relation to engine speed and rpm etc. Once it is explained to you by a competent person it is very logical and easy. Since then I have taught 5 people to drive in the space of a week. Every single one of them passed. The thing you have to explain to them (which driving instructors are financially incentivized not to tell you) is how the mechanics of the car work, this is the main reason people fail over and over again, not because they can't accelerate or brake or turn, but because they dont understand how the car itself actually works. Once you do, everything is perfectly logical. Sorry for the essay

@@spanishjohn420 Guarantee you're not teaching them in the UK, and if you are, they aren't fully versed with road rules, law and road signs, priority and correct lane usage. 4 hours is nothing and you simply can't teach everything there is to know in that small amount of time. The fact you said you taught them to drive "with 4 hours, the day before their test" seems very un-british to me, nobody in their right mind in the UK books a driving test, does no practise or learning whatsoever and then the day before suddenly "drives for the first time" and learns everything in 4 hours. Utter nonsense.

It feels like it wasn't the best day for Mahfuz or he wasn't on form at that time. Perhaps it's an illness or some kind of life situation? He seemed really down spiritually and kind of slow, but it was fairly clear that it wasn't a particular slowness of the mind, but rather something weighing him in -- all his actions were pretty slow and his road speed tended to be very slow. Also, he kind of strained to keep his focus in precision, even though he clearly knew what he needed to do. I hope he gets to show his best on the real test and that he gets to drive often enough to become more confident and more "automatic" in his actions.

I think nerves got the better of him. He seemed completely zoned out and did not take in what you were saying to him. Even when you used the brake he didn’t even flinch a worry really . 100 hours of practice you can put some down to nerves but he drove through the red light after slowing down. I also think he seemed tired maybe a shift worker ? Only I think he needs more practice Aman with you and yet he told you he knew the area so found it odd that he didn’t even see the car on the right. Maybe not enough observations and tunnel vision like you said. From now on lots of mirror checks and observations and a few lessons with you Aman would help him immensly x😊

I'm in Belgium and finally passed after 4 driving tests and over 170 hours of driving. I was already a really good driver by the first test but they're extremely strict here, like at 19:54 you would get a serious fault for not indicating to the left while the car is approaching. They failed me twice for not driving defensively enough and the last exam they gave me a minor fault for driving too defensively. You can only have 4 minor faults or 2 serious ones

@@nordicnomad5473 It would be like in a situation where you're waiting to get onto a street that has priority over you, apparently you're not allowed to quickly get in between two cars if you see a gap open up (knowing the cars will not have to slow down). You truly have to wait until it's completely clear. I was told that i drove too "fluently" and that the examinators don't like to pass people like that due to the increased chance of accidents in the future. On my last exam in the beginning I drove behind a cyclist for around half a minute due to turns and solid lines where it's illegal to pass. There was a short 5 second gap where I could have passed the cyclist but I chose not to (knowing i failed before for not driving defensively). And then afterwards they told me I should have passed them anyway, and that they could have failed me for that. Overall very strange.

Mahfuz needs to look busier, too laid back. like a lot of novice drivers he doesn't look far enough into the junction, just looking at the nose steering round corners denies his brain of 50% of the view, he'll tidy it with practice.Mahfuz got into a battle with himself at the traffic lights (test nerves methinks). Another bugbear to me is the lack of practice and exercises using the handbrake to hold the car on busy junctions to avoid rolling. I thought you relieved the pressure in assisting Mahfuz across that busy junction to regain any confidence loss. Keep at it Mahfuz you'll get there. Aman, another great video, thank you.

Personally I remember booking my test after maybe 20 lessons at the most so roughly 40 hours... had to wait 4 months for the test so that went up to roughly 40 lessons total. 1 minor caused by stalling when someone else drove at speed on the wrong side at temporary lights illegally.
