Honestly, this season makes me have faith in the show again. Even if it does reuse concepts, it adds a new spin to them so they don't feel that rehashed.

this season is so good so far i love how each character has their own storyline and how the inbetween storyline scenes arent cringey and how each one is actually entertaining! even though grace and ariana have the same plot as amanda, its different as they both have their interior motives and rhey do different things

Best season since S6 imo

The more I watch this season the more Grace grows on me an the main antagonist. Brianna does such a good job playing both sides of her and showing the subtle manipulation and just chaos that Grace has

I know it is a bold claim, and I don't want to jinx 9.5, but this may be my favourite season yet (at the point of watching for the first time). I just love how each scene and storyline has been made and I'm now even more hopeful for #TNS10When

i cant lie, i LOVE this season. finished all the episodes already. it feels more mature than 8B and i actually care about these characters more, especially Ariana, she's so easy to empathise with :)

Loved the first half of this season. Looking forward to the next! Small (but pretty funny) con of the season is the EXACT same shot of the outside of the studio that they use between scenes is repeated over and over again lool

I have a video suggestion - a video/ series entitled WHAT WOULD I DO? in which you take situations characters were in and say what you would do and why. For example, if you were Chloe in series 3 and were deciding between internationals and the ballet tour.

I get ultra elite dancers wanting to follow Grace with that dance for Kenzie bc her plan gives them a chance to get in a team going to internationals, no one would reject that, it's a challenge kinda of thing.

This is my favourite season outside the original 1-3, all the new characters are amazing and I really like that you see all the characters together and mixing up the groups much more regularly. Like you might have an episode so and so are doing a duet but then next they in group dances with completely different p people

This has been my favorite TNS episode in a long time, although the plots were familiar, they didn't feel reused, I liked how they gave people like Ariana actual motives to be doing what they were doing and also the characters seemed alot more mature and less guliable, when Kenzie was saying she suspected it was a scheme but she didn't really care, it reminded my of Richelle and Emily in earlier seasons

Funny how in season 4 miss Kate said to Riley studio head is a full time role you can't dance at regionals with the team aswell and it was this big decision but kenzie seems to be fine 🤣

I binged the first half of Season 9 and I gotta say, I really like it so far. It’s really good. There’s a natural air to this season which just feels fresh and a bit different. I will admit that it’s not as exciting as Season 8A but it’s still really good in a different way. I said it before but it definitely has the vibe of the earlier seasons which is good. Originally I had doubts and issues about Grace’s motivations not feeling justified enough as villain but the more episodes I watched, the more it clicked and ended up working for me. After watching episode 1, I was worried she would be too much like Season 2 Amanda but Grace actually works well as a villain. Brianna sells it really well as an actress and I feel like the addition of Ariana helps strengthen the scheming too because she also has a decent motivation for helping Grace with her blaming A Troupe for Presley leaving. Her relationship with her sister being destroyed combined with Grace manipulating and using that to her advantage to make Ariana see the bigger picture and target A-Troupe makes it more believable than I thought it would be, as they both shared a connection with Presley and naturally, Presley leaving TNS because of not making A-Troupe would make them resent The Next Step. So now it definitely works for me. It also helps that some characters like Kenzie and Anthony are still cautious of potential Elite scheming even when Grace and Ariana are one step ahead of them. I’d say the dancing is also an improvement from Season 8B. The only few criticisms I have is that Nick’s absence is still definitely noticeable and it does feel like Kenzie is still the temporary studio head. I also have some minor issues later on with Elite and the lower troupes but I’ll talk more on that later. As for Niall, I really like him too but I agree that he looks more like a B-Trouper than J-Trouper😂 Definitely taller than the average J Trouper. Hopefully you’ll like episode 3 more. I certainly did.😅

Nick is so MIA and given that he vamoosed to Bora Bora last season and lost his passport and all those shenanigans and left Kenzie in charge of the studio and at the time, almost all of A-Troupe was new except her and Heath, I'd almost go as far as to say he's a worse studio head than Riley...like...I know he doesn't have relationship drama, but like, I don't know...I don't know how much Riley choreographed for A-Troupe and she screwed up a LOT, but like...she at least could choreograph (I don't know how much was supposed to be her choreo and how much was on the dancers). I haven't decided tbh. But Kenzie might as well be studio head. 😂

The scene where Kenzie is concerned about Pete doesn't want to be with Kenzie reminds me season 2 when Michelle was concerned too about Eldon being cold and distant because he lost the dance battle against Hunter.

This season is a lot better than season 8 so far. Season 8 to me was a bit of a flop so season 9 kinda makes up for it

My theory is that Kenzie works for the studio as like an intern or work experience etc. TNS are in the advanced division so there is also a chance that she is 18+.

s9 is actually pretty decent so far. grace and ariana scheming feels a bit different to Amanda’s scheming. obviously the goal is the same but the motives they have are different enough to make it not too similar to Amanda which is good. Also some of the characters aren’t being written as completely oblivious to it. Kenzie, Heath and Anthony are still keeping an eye of Elite after what happened last year. But Grace and Ariana are still smart enough to adapt to their plan to take down a troupe whenever things go wrong for them which makes it even interesting. the a troupe that we eventually get for this season is potentially stronger than the Season 8B A Troupe. i think Season 8 is still better mostly because it had a lot more going on than Season 9 does so far. Like it had the mole storyline, Step Inside Show, having scenes outside of the studio and Nationals. How the second half plays out will determine whether or not I think Season 9 will be better or not but so far it’s pretty decent. also kenzie might as well become studio head at this point. She’s pretty much been taking charge since Season 8B so why not😂

I think Niall being on J-troupe may have been for continuity purposes! When TNS decided to go to nationals, the acting A-troupe decided to do “Step Inside” minus Kenzie, thus promoting B-Troupe to A-Troupe. After the challenge, B-Troupe likely consisted of dancers cut from the challenge since any other B-Troupers would have been present prior or at the challenge. Thus, Niall could only have been a TNS member if he was on J-Troupe, or else he would already be auditioning. However, TNS is not know for sticking to a strict timeline/continuity. It could simply be a nod to Noah and Richelle in season 3 or for story convenience

niall doesn't look young enough to be on j troupe but as you get to know him, his behavior shows how young and excitable he really is

Great second episode. I'm loving the storyline with Grace and Ariana. Niall is really good, I love his energy. Where is Studio B at? I hope we see Winnie audition for A Troupe, Winnie deserves better. Love that they mentioned that Ariana and Presley are sisters. I'm wondering how come Presley didn't mentioned that she had a sister name Ariana in Season 7 or Season 8. I'm curious why A Troupe is surprised that they have to re audition for A Troupe, they should've known that no one spot is safe. I'm loving Kenzie. Where's Nick? I feel like he should have a say on the A Troupe since he's the studio owner. I hope we see more develop of Nick in Season 9 since we didn't get much from in Season 7 and a little bit of Season 8.

i really don't want to jinx the 2nd half of season 9 but on first watch this might be my favourite season, i genuinely don't know what's going to happen with internationals and grace is growing on me as an amanda type character. i still think her reasoning isn't really good enough but other than that i think she's great an brianna is soooo pretty 🥺 it's also feeling like pre season 4 seasons again, i actually liked season 4 but we can all agree it's where it started to go downhill a bit

I feel like I’m the odd one out when I say that the first half of the season feels wasteful and trash 😭😭 spoilers which aren’t really spoilers* yes we lose dancers, get dancers, lose dancers again, smh* but they haven’t even focused showing much or any of their rehearsals, no character development, were robbed of a great dynamic and developing friendship, it just is super stupid that they waited this long to film and now they couldn’t get the actors back 🙄 obviously we were going to get one final season for internationals, duh. And sorry for my semi long rant 😅 I’m just tired of their bs and horrible writing 😭 LIKE GIRLLL GRACE… why are you trying to be so evil against the next step??? At least have a REASON!! She has zero reason as she was the one who left because she felt like she didn’t fit in, even though everyone was being nice and supportive. i absolutely love this season so far its been great. but something i miss abt the concept of tns is the bts of each episode that was on yt like in season seven bc it makes us feel connected to the cast and therefore the characters together as whole. like for example when the og a troupe left in season 4 i felt more connected to them bc of how they were as a cast and how close they were. same thing goes for when the next a troupe left in the first half of season 8 bc of how amazing they were together in the bts videos of season 7 esp. but for this current a troupe - they are great together but IMO i think they lack team chemistry and we haven’t reallly seen them interact with each other like the bts videos for season 4-7. ik it’s acting but i feel like the team chemistry as a whole is missing from this season but overall love everything so far. a side note - i miss when emily and rob would do all the social media for tns i just binged all of the bts videos from season 7 the other day and it brings me so much joy and when i watched myles’ interview with them back when he was fundraising for colour of change.

I thought I was used to the inconsistencies of the show, but I guess not. Nonetheless, this season seems to be going well. But what I really need is Nick! I mean why is Kenzie doing everything here. I mean in Season 2, even if it was Emily that initiated to push through with “The Challenge”, it was ultimately Kate that led the votings. In every season, the auditions were led ultimately by the studio heads. Also, why Kenzie decided to let UE practice in Studio 1, I will never understand. Sure we may assume she talked to Nick about this. But I need the adult role to be in the scene and not let the children (teens? atp im not sure) decide on their own for things like these. They’re giving Kenzie too much of a leadership role, which I don’t necessarily think is justified. I love Nick’s character, but I guess this is the cost of not having a studio head/owner that is not completely knowledgeable about dance studios and competitions. Be there as a businessman at least and know that this is still a business. Also, I feel that we’re not having clear distinctions between the dancers’ drama and the studio’s drama because they’re basically the same now (almost) since even the studio affairs, they (especially Kenzie) are the ones handling. Love TNS and I’m liking the season. These are just things I would love to see (I guess) especially since I was not exactly thrilled about the last two seasons.

What about the loop whole where Elite won another regionals to go to Nationals. The loop whole was they didn’t have to win their regionals it could be any regionals. Maybe Ultra Elite could have won another Nationals to go to Internationals. Just an idea 😊

TNS has fallen in my eyes and omg can Nick just do his job where is he?

To be honest, I’m not feeling Season 9 at all. I think the plot is poorly written in areas and I feel the villains have weak motivation. The role of Kenzie and Nick is so blurred, Nick is more like an investor at this point and Kenzie should not be working for free, assuming she is dance captain and I don’t think she’d get paid for that. I would have kicked Ariana out, nobody should be auditing a dance unless invited to or from the studio, which she’s not. Kenzie also used to be more distrustful, and whilst she has displayed a lot of kindness and courage recently, giving Ultra Elite a studio space is insane considering they aren’t a competitive team and don’t even have a studio head. If they wanted a studio to dance in so badly, then why did they audition for A-Troupe? It seems odd Kenzie doesn’t appear to be more doubtful. They also keep reusing that same clip of someone walking in the building again and again, to the point I also noticed it when I don’t think I noticed the repetitiveness in previous seasons. It also annoys me how their titles do not reflect their dance style, I’m not sure why people keep switching from contemporary to jazz to funk, it really doesn’t make sense. It’s difficult, because I still enjoy elements of this show and Grace portrays the villain well but it feels like this should be more of a spin-off show, because this is constant drama and barely any dance. The plot with the betrayal seems to have overpermeated the show and I don’t think the entire half-season (potentially the full season) should just be about this.

Actually Ozzy didn't directly go from J-Troupe to A-Troupe even if almost, when Emily kicked him out of her auditions he ended up in B-Troupe, then Michelle went to him for TNS West and then they all combined for the official A-Troupe. The only person that I remember going directly from J-Troupe to A-Troupe is Noah for internationals, so Niall is more like him. Also in the fact that they're already old enough to make A-Troupe and if not then won't come back to J-Troupe but go to B-Troupe, like Richelle in that season (Noah definitely didn't look like a J-Trouper anymore in season 3 lol).

Idk if it's because I'm older now but I just can't enjoy the newer seasons. I feel like their target audience is even younger now, the acting and the story lines just feel very childish. Like if you'd compare this season (so far) to let's say season 4, it's two completely different shows imo. Not saying it's a bad thing though. Also I find it weird how they're sooo chocked about having to re-audition? Like isn't that kind off how a competitive dance team works? You can't just audition once and then get to stay for 5 years lol.

I finished watching the show and atleast it isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. They have better dancers and got rid of the bad ones.

I’m liking this season but a part of me doesn’t like how they’re doing this Amanda thing again I don’t feel like it should be revisited again. But I’m definitely gonna give it a chance. I'm not mad that kenzies holding auditions again, but I feel the reasoning was a bit weak. Like the team barely changed and she keeps going on abt how it isn't the same team that won nationals. It reminds of last season when they really weren't the same team that won regionals and that felt more effective. Anyway loving these videos and so far the season is great

this season is so poorly written. we need the same level of writing skill we had for season 1-3. the plots are just so generic. its giving my 12 year old wattpad stories.
