You know what's really great, I watched this vid about 10 times, rode the route about 3 times. On mod2 day, we drive towards the exit and he goes 'turn right..' Ended up going through Port wood, up new Zealand road, turncroft lane, Marple road, up otterspool, back through bredbury green, back to center. Still passed though on a cg125 so would like to say cheers again!😂

Nice video. I did the same DIY test as you (Honda Forza 125) with 2 minors. Had my first "Can you pull up on the left when safe" as soon as I left the test centre, followed by "So you can remove your keys from the top box". Bloody keyless systems. Also, nice examineer, said over the radio as I was pulling in at the end of the test at the center "congratulations, you have passed" no waiting at all.

Great video thanks. Re your cycle box question, it is clear cut - motor vehicles including motorbikes must stop at the first stop line and not enter the box. The occasions when you are permitted to be in the box will be very few and far between and only in the circumstances you said i.e. where you are already over the first line when the lights change - this will be rare. Thanks for the vid - really helpful.

Nerve wracking to watch. “Make good progress” was my instructors advice i.e. ride to the speed limit. I lost a point for not overtaking a car with a trailer on a hill, thought it would be a bit boy racer on my test! Examiner asked me what action I could have taken “ I could have overtaken” - “no should have overtaken” he said! Shoulder checks a must and watch out for the dithering pedestrian at a zebra crossing that will f**k up your test. Personally I wouldn’t go into the green cyclist box. Great ride and well done for the the pass.
@tonye7509
@tonye7509 3 жыл бұрын
Congrats mate well done. With regards to the green box. It’s called an ASL (Advanced stop line) and it’s specifically for cyclists. It’s purpose is to allow cyclists to sit at the front of traffic so that they can be seen. (Well that’s the theory anyway). Crossing either of the lines in a motorised vehicle on a red light actually carries a fine for both lines. Other than that, looked like a top ride pal. 👍

@RoyalAlloyRider 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback Tony. Good to know for future reference, thanks for watching 👍
@johnnyfearlesszrx
@johnnyfearlesszrx 2 жыл бұрын
Tony is correct. The advanced stop line is the one for all motorists to stop at. You must stop before that line on amber if it's safe to do so and you must not go over it on a red. The line at the front of the cycle box is the secondary stop line. You must not pass on amber if its safe to stop before it and you must not pass it on a red. You could and should have stopped before the advanced stop line but you went over it just before red, so as you were a new rider, he gave you the benefit of the doubt. If it had gone red before you passed over it, I'm sure it would have been a fail. It was pretty close.

5:22 - you're fully in his blind spot in the red car, he'd never see you if he changed his mind and turned left without signal. The guy on the bicycle with a pole!! Mad hahah. As for green cycle boxes - they are for bicycles only, we shouldn't stop unless absolutely necessary, and should not filter into them. If you think your scooters throttle is sensitive, you'd be shocked about big bikes (750 plus) hah - blip it and you're doing 50. Throttle control is a learnt skill holding speed. And yes, you should indicate at the last turn in. Well done though! Enjoy and keep learning.

You got a massive lucky break from your examiner. The last traffic lights before the test centre when you were behind the learner you stopped again in the cycle part and then followed the learner car through a red light.

38:55 At the traffic lights behind the learner, you did enter the cycle box ‘ but’ the lights were on green when you entered it and stopped, you’d already commented in the video you were not supposed to enter the box if the lights were Amber or red so I’d guess you were ok ? What cc is the scooter ?

I reckon the left handed turn is the one at 18:45, just before you said you were looking for it. I think you should be a bit nearer the kerb as it's a blind corner and the traffic coming down the hill could cut their corner off, which would place them over the line and extremely close to you. That's my thinking, anyway. Great video.

Just watched your video and apologies for being late to the party but one question I have always had, is why anyone would go for the A1 licence and not the straight 'A' licence as it restricts you to the size of bike you can ride? I appreciate you say you had only been riding for 3 months and self taught up to this point. I also understand that for the A licence you do have to take the test on a bigger machine - so have to hire one from a training school and of course, it helps if you have a lesson or two on that machine so you get used to and comfortable with it. Again, costs a bit more but if you were taking a car test you would probably take 10 lessons or more first, so to me it makes sense to factor that in. Final question, after passing your test a year ago, are you still riding the same size bike or did you hanker for something a little bigger/sportier? And if so, did you take the full A licence yet?

Very helpful video, thanks a lot!!! I have 2 questions if you don't mind. What is the helmet camera and would you recommend it? And also why did you even bother with A1 and just didn't go for DAS and get a proper license. Thanks again :)

@RoyalAlloyRider 2 жыл бұрын
Hello Mate, I am using the Drift Ghost XL camera, check out my review here kzfaq.info/get/bejne/o7GWi89nm629Ymg.html Also I did just the A1 as I am into Scooters not big bikes, and cant really see myself ever needing to upgrade to anything more than a 125cc. If I wanted to go faster sure I'd do the DAS and get a big bike, but that's just not what I'm into. Thanks for watching and commenting.

I did an A1, many don't bother. Recently went from A1 to A2. I did this because I didn't want to have to do the theory test again. The bike i want needs to be economical and not too tall, so 500 cc seems about right for me. Since 2016 ive riden over 80,000 miles on my A1 license. I had two faults, one was for being around 2 mph over the limit, but he said he prefered that, than being under.

Very nice ride. Well done. Can't for the life of me work out where the lefthand turn was where you picked up a minor. I'm surprised that stopping in that cycle box at the lights didn't get you a fail, to be honest. I thought that was considered pretty serious. Also, the right turn at the end when you lost him looked a little dicey from a test point of view. That's exactly how you should drive normally but you're basically turning on red (or, at least, that's what it looks like in the video), which I would have thought would spell trouble in a test. That said, I'm not an experienced motorcyclist so maybe I'm wrong, but I definitely would have waited behind the cycle box (and therefore would have had to wait. Anyone know what the correct procedure is here, please?

I got a major for stopping in a cyclist box in the same situation as you ,he stated I was not anticipating the light change , gave me a major for not going round a roundabout at 30MPH I proceeded at 15MPH. Gave me a major for missing a turn on the independent ride and a major for going too slow in a 30mph zone which I thought was a twenty .

Hello Mate, the A1 will only allow you to ride a 125cc. So if you intend to buy 300cc scoots, you would need to do the A2 teat or the Direct Access Test (DAS). Good luck and keep us posted on your progress. Thanks for watching. 🛵✊

Just watched your video today and firstly you did a great job the video was very well done but I will point out how lucky you were committing a major fault and passing. I want to bring to your attention your final right turn at 39 mins. You were waiting at the second white line within the cyclist zone with the learner driver ahead that was waiting in the yellow box look at the lights change to red while you were still stationary. You went through a red light. Pause it at 39:08 I can see your instructor in your mirror i have no idea what he was looking at.
