If the destruction of 1155 Robert Bourassa doesn't have you guys pissed off enough already, well, I can sadly confirm that these have been destroyed too. :( If you guys have watched me long enough, you guys would know that these were ORIGINAL Turnbull Traflomatic Elevators (basically Turnbull's equivalent to Otis Autotronic & Westinghouse Selectomatic) from the Early 60s with the Turnbull Square Black Button fixtures, as well as cabs and indicators that looked STRAIGHT out of the 50s/60s. Well, fast forward to now, and they're getting modernized by a Generic Company that I do not know the name of, and it looks like I came just a few weeks too late from getting my chance to see these one last time! When I was here 2 elevators were modernized, 1 was being modernized and the Service Elevator was well, out of service too. I couldn't quite tell if it was under modernization as well, but even if it wasn't being modded at the time this video was recorded, I highly doubt it will be fixed before modernization.
As for the new elevators, just like the mod at 1155, VERY GENERIC & BORING!!! The New Cabs do look nice, and I do prefer the US91EN fixtures to MAD and other forms of Dewhurst, but I'm still upset about the Modernization as all of the character, 1950s/60s charm and everything that made these elevators cool and fun to ride is no longer there, and what especially sucks is that finding an original Turnbull Traflomatic System is SO RARE, EVEN MORE RARE than finding an Original Westinghouse Selectomatic, Haughton Signamatic, High Rise Vintage Dover system, etc.!!! This was ONE of ONLY THREE KNOWN surviving installations of Turnbull Traflomatic in Canada, and now they're no more..... :(
Fortunately, I did at least get a video of these 5 years ago showing the original elevators in their truly epic and amazing and extremely rare state, which can be seen here for those interested: • AMAZING VINTAGE 1961 T...
But with that all being said, I don't have anything else to say other than
RIP Turnbull Traflomatics 1961-2022 :(
Installed in 1961. (Turnbull Traflomatic with Square Black Button fixtures)
Being Modernized in 2022. (Unknown Generic Company with New Cabs, New Motors, New Controllers, Dewhurst US91EN Fixtures, New Doors, New Lanterns, etc. NOTHING is left of the original elevators, basically a full replacement.)
