What does "would" mean in English? When do we use "would"?
would is a modal auxiliary verb. In this lesson, you will learn the form of "would" (affirmative full form and contracted, negative full form and contracted and the question form.)
You will also learn the many different uses and meanings:
Past habits
Past refusals
Future relative to the past (would as a past form of "will")
Indirect speech (reported speech)
Polite offers and requests
Conditionals
Past unreal situations
For each of these uses of "would", I give you a detailed explanation and several example sentences.

Thank you so much for your lesson from Vietnam 🇻🇳. I usually listen to your lessons for several times and try to rewrite it like this. You are the best teacher ever. Today I will study one of many uses of the modal verb “ would”. We use would to describe a refusal from the past. A refusal is an act of not wanting to do something or not agreeing to do something. It is usually used in a negative form of would. For example: My girlfriend was angry, she wouldn’t speak to me. Another example: A: why are you late? B: my car wouldn’t start. It means his car refused to start. According to the teacher, this sentence is very common when we talk about our car that in the past it didn’t start. I have a cute 🐱 cat, last night, I told him to eat something, but he wouldn’t eat. He shook his head 😅,he refused to eat because he was getting sick😌. That’s my lesson today. Could you correct my sentences ? Thank you so much for your help. Today is Wednesday, 14 September 14 2022, in my country Vietnam 🇻🇳. Wishing peace to all species of our earth 🌍
