3 times outstanding!: the sound, your playing, and the upgrade. Great job, especially if this your first time. btw, your a cool and modest dude. The reason for the thin sound in the middle position: pups are out of phase (either rewire one of them, or turn one of them 180 degrees).

I put Titans in one of my RGs and they really sound great the bridge attack is just so focused and tight. Good job dude.

That sound at 12:35 where your switch is middle position is PHASED. That means you wired one pickup with its wires reversed, so when both pickups are on they are out of phase. That thin, tinkly, phase-ey sound is exactly what you get. You can "tune" it, by adjusting pickup heights relative to each other.

The reason for that sound when the selector switch is in the middle position is that you have both the pickups in series and that increases the DC resistance (on already pretty high output pickups which have a pretty high DC resistance themselves). Put some more gain on it and you have something that's probably a lot more powerful (or edgier?) than Seymour Duncan Invaders. I did the same on my guitar, and the middle position, which is underutilized by many guitarist, has become my go to selection for riffs to sound less muddy.

Capricious guitar, I installed SD Black Winter on it, a lot of tops and middles and you can’t hear the bottom, I installed SD Blackouts dirty rumbling bottom, I installed Fishman Modern, very good sound, something between 81 and blackout, at the moment there are SD blackouts EMTY, the sound is perfect for me , I don't experiment anymore.

I got that same guitar and was thinking changing the bridge and the pickups. So i would like to know if it's possible to change that bridge to hipshot and how big of a project that would be? I mean if the screw holes are in same place and if so, does the hipshot hide the existing holes under it? And if u wouldn't mind, could u actually do a video where u change hipshot bridge to this guitar so i can see how that process goes. Nice videos by the way.

I am really very impressed because both we have same hobbies I have a project once finished will take your opinion my friend
@MrCalicious Жыл бұрын
I know this is old, but for anyone watching simply sanding the paint more won't cut it (put intended). The process takes a little bit more effort to get perfect. Always spray in light even passes. Build up paint little by little until the coat is finished. Always sand in a new direction with each new grit. Always thoroughly clean with a tack cloth after sanding. 1. Sand old paint with 220 grit. 2. Spray primer, sand the primer to 320 grit. 3. Spray primer again, sand 2nd coat primer with 400 grit. 4. Spray color, sand the color to 600 grit. 5. Spray color coat 2, sand to 800 grit. 6. Spray clear, sand to 1000 grit, 7. Spray clear coat 2, sand 1500, 2000, 3000, then buff with an automotive polish. Skipping out on the clear coat will cause issues down the line because paint just isn't durable enough. It's also what gives that shine that everyone wants. Two coats of each is really the bare minimum needed to get great results. Most guitar companies will use quite a bit more than that.
@kevinfeatherstone60626 жыл бұрын
do another project Ibanez like this one but put a Hipshot bridge on it and Seymour Duncans like A custom Custom and a 59 or pearly gates. Some push/pull pots(or those new push/push) would be nice. I'm not much of a Painter, but I do love taking my guitars apart and putting them back together. I look forward to seeing your next project!

The part from 12:09 is stellar. What should be the first step in modding a natural finish guitar like Ibanez RG421? It's got some scratches.
@MilianMalivukMusic6 жыл бұрын
If the scratches are deep into the wood, there's nothing you can do about it I guess... if it's only slight scratches it might help to sand down the clear finish down to the bare wood and maybe do a tung oil finish on the body!
