Model Building Tips HO Hogwarts Express Derailing!
Oh, no! The Hogwarts Express keeps derailing! How will all the young wizards and witches get to school?
Never fear, Dan has come up with a simple fix to keep the locomotive on the rails.
Several years ago Dan got Nichole her own train, a Bachmann HO (OO) scale Hogwarts Express set.
This set has a 4-6-0 steam locomotive and three coaches. The locomotive looks nice and runs well, but it had a habit of derailing.
Nichole and Dan mostly run this train during the holiday season as part of Nichole's Christmas Village display. In past years Dan & Nichole set the layout up on the floor. Since the tile is a little uneven, they thought that was the culprit.
In 2022, however, they set up their Christmas layout on a flat table. The Hogwarts Express locomotive did better but still had a tendency to jump the rails.
After some trial and error, Dan came up with a simple solution to keep the train on the rails and make sure those young wizards and witches can get to Hogwarts!
The fix Dan used might also be applicable to other locomotives.
