I grew up in the 1950s/60s almost next to Edge Hill sidings and goods yard which has now completely gone. Your model is very accurate and instantly reminded me of Edge Hill. I used to model in OO gauge but may at some point get round to O gauge as the presence and slow running is very interesting. Well done. By the way one useful tip is to use childs water colour paint mixed with a drop of washing up liquid to paint your figures as they then have a matt finish and the soap gives it good adhesion and lasting quality. Excellent weathering of the wagons was also awesome .

Thank you for the tip with painting the figures. I’ll give that a go next time I’m doing some up. These days O gauge is easy to get into, especially with ready to run locos such as the Jinty and the soon to be released 3MT 2-6-2T and a wide variety of wagons and coaches too. You’ll love the scale of you upgrade. Thank you for the compliments on my model and that they invoked such wonderful memories of Edge Hill too 😊🙏

Great video, brings back memories of time with my dad at Old Oak Common and seeing locomotives on the turntable, but I loved my Western Region Diesel Hydraulics, Westerns, Warship, and Hymek, classes. But seeing the remaining Castle, King, Hall, and Panniers in such a poor state was sad. Had a great ride at 13 years old on a Hymek from Bristol to Paddington in the cab, will never forget it.

I'm glad it brought back so many memories for you. Hopefully some very good ones. I'm not a diesel fan myself so I don't quite know the loco types your referencing. :)

Yes very inspirational, I hadn't realised that you were modelling from 'down under' I am old enough to remember the last breaths of steam in the north west as I grew up in Manchester, and your layout really brings that atmosphere back for me as a young trainspotter managing to get to a few of the sheds. Looking forward to the continuing instalments, Chris.

Thank you for the wonderful compliments Chris. I am very happy that my layout has been able to bring some of those cherished memories back for you. I'm sure it would have been quite a time to experience all of this for real back in the 1960's, with a mixed bag of emotions too. Perhaps in a past life I worked on steam around the North-West too. My Dad is from Manchester (Oldham) and so I've had a love of England all my life and being a railway enthusiast too, British steam has been my absolute passion. I'm really happy I've been able to re-create a flavour of the past for more to see and admire. Thank you once again :)

Wow! Just 2 points! That's awesome! I wanted a simple layout and ended up with more points than I thought possible! If you're ever in the UK and in Hampshire check out the watercress line

Hello Leo. Thank you for your comment and compliment too. I was limited with space but wanted to make it work as best I could. As well as being operational it serves as an excellent photography diorama too. I know the Watercress line intimately. I have friends who are drivers and fireman there. I'm hoping to get back again soon, maybe in 2019 :)

Just stumbled across your channel. Fabulous building and lots of inspiration even though I will never model anywhere near this standard. You have a new subscriber!

Thank you for finding me. I really appreciate the compliments and your subscription too. I’ll make more videos soon. Never stop yourself from building a layout or achieving realism. I started knowing nothing and slowly built up. Anyone can do it. It’s just attention to detail and taking ones time 😊😊

Very nice mate! What railways do you work on in Australia? I spent 6 months in Melbourne back in 2009 working on the tram and train contracts. Needless to say I rapidly discovered Puffing Billy and spent most of my weekends working on it. I got to fire the NA's and even the Garratt (which felt very "Midland". Lovely layout mate. Looking forward to seeing more of it. Subscribed!

Thank you for subscribing 🙏😊. I fire at Puffing Billy and also the Victorian Goldfields Railway. Both are wonderful railways and all the locos are sensational to work on. Thanks for the compliments on my layout. I really appreciate that 😊
