Yes you can get away with a lil power if you judge it right and angle the rod. But I wont tempt it too much

Happy to see you back. Looks like a nice park, I have one I go to about that size near by. Brings out the kids and fun when they see the launches oh and Awesome cato 🤣🤣🤣 I really like the saucer that was metal on top. Who makes that.

I had a bad motor last month while flying out at El Mirage in southern California. It was an Estes D-12-7 that the ejection charge failed to fire. Rocket came straight in from about a 1000 feet into the hard packed lake bed. It was the first flight on that new rocket.☹

Sorry to hear that. Contact estes with the engine info and they should make you whole. You'll need pictures and the engine lot numbers and stuff like that.

Wow...what a eventful day...beautiful site to fly...I'm glad you have an area to enjoy the hobby...the CATO...I'm still wondering what did happen...without any engine deformity ...strange...atleast you got all the pieces...great video and see you on the next...

Right it was. Strange CATO for sure. My past CATOs blew the nozzel out also. It was an old D12-0.

Glad you found another field to fly. Too bad about the terra former though. I don't see how it blew that all apart like that? Maybe the engine swelled as it exploded?

Great video! I love the new launch site, although it is somewhat limiting on how much power you can use. In hindsight, taping the R2-Q5 fins is probably what saved them. Had they been screwed on, I’m afraid you’d be breaking out the glue. That was a very kind gesture from that gentleman that sent the landing legs. This is a great hobby that brings out the best in people. By the way, I think you broke a record for closest landing to the pad, because it actually landed “under” the pad! LOL. Good show!!!

Lol yes that is absolutely a record for closest to the pad. I forgot to mention that. And you're right some great people are in rocketry culture. You're one of them man🚀🚀

Nice to see you launch at a new site. You actually had grass to land on! Hopefully you get back to your giant field soon to be able to launch the bigger engines and the multistage rockets (So Long!!). It is not clear from the recovered parts how that rocket CATOed. The top of the engine is at the top of the rocket, so how did it blow those pieces apart? IT certainly rained rocket parts though.

It did. My camera has a tiny small and has a slide on the screen to zoom. It's a pain. To fiddle with while tracking. I agree with you though

Estes out sourced their products to chiner, I have noticed their quality go down the crapper, been faithful customer since 75, but I'm done. Loc precision and aerotech is my new vibe. Sorry bout yer cool rocket..😳

Like many U.S. company out sourced everything for cheaper prices. Politics and Policy. But the motors are made here I believe. No problem about the rocket easy fix and that was an old engine
