not Needing the spring in the points, it is time to remove the big moulded block and fit sleepers where they should be, making the points look more realistic

That’s a neat little trick to improve those points although I suspect this job is much easier in O than it would be in OO! You’ve got me thinking though and I may just have to have a look at my own points. Thanks for sharing. Paul

luckily in OO you don't have this enormous block on top of the point

Very useful video, I broke all the covers on mine when I took them off to fit the point motors. I keep looking at them trying to work out how to tidy them up. Thanks for sharing Andy

mine broke too, they seem a bit rubbish, however, they look much better now, and i am glad you found it useful

That looks far better, I have just getting into O Gauge, after purchasing the Dapol 08, now in the process of boxing my OO for Hatton's for a new scale layout!

Same boat, unfortunately I am 12000 miles from Hattons, so struggling to sell my stuff

Neat! A man after my own heart, I've done similar. Good video and explanation too - thanks. I've also straightened wing and check rails and improved the crossing nose Vs. Next putting a straight timber in at the other end (probably inappropriate/not worth it on Y points). I might do something to disguise/cover those tie bar rivets too (I've yet to fathom what).

a good idea, however, its too late to put in the long sleeper now. at the end of the day, it looks a lot better than OO track, and if i build another layout, i might have a go at building my own

Hi Ian, love the channel and that hack for the points looks great. Thanks for sharing. One thing I've been wondering and I haven't seen a video on was what you did to paint your track? Do you have any tips/guidance please? I've done it before in N but this will be my first time in O - and I want to get it looking right!

Hi Mark. Hmmm, I see your problem lol, it does appear I may not have shown it, although it may well be in my videos of upper Walmington. However, I airbrushed the rails in a rust colour, just a randomly selected Humbrol tin, then from above to not overspray the rail sides, I spray over the sleepers using railmatch sleeper grime. And that’s it. In video 99 after ballasting, I then go over the weathering techniques I used to tone it all

@@47606odin Thanks for coming back to me so quickly Ian. That's really helpful as the extra size of O Gauge gives me more opportunity to make it look great, or to mess it up!

Hi, looking into getting into 0 Gauge...so very interesting :-)

There is definitely potential in O, and you need less of it, which is why I upscaled, as I was getting snowed under
