Confirm. Hypermiling works in gas cars too. Gas stations aren't ubiquitous in some (large) parts of France, at midnight... Got nearly 60mpg in an old SAAB 9000 behind a semi, while the fuel-light was on, and next services was saying 120k!!

Being behind a semi-truck to 'slipstream' is very efficient, if the speeds are high enough the turbulence from that semi can ACTUALLY make the air push the car.

Hey, just a heads up, some semi's don't like when people draft their rear end and will actually go to the extent of driving over the line on the right to kick up some nice rocks for you. I tested drafting it with success in an ICE w/adaptive cruise control many years back, but it's not worth the risk.

Some people say that u can get the better luxurious features and experience with gas car that have the same price as the X. But auto pilot during traffic is the most luxurious feature that no gas car has. However, gas car will have it soon, Im looking forward to see what is tesla will do in 2017 to set them separated again.

I enjoy your video all the times. I wanted to ask you that 400k model 3 has been pre-ordered and once those model 3 get on roads making long trips, that would make supercharger stations overly crowded and long waiting time. What are your thoughts ?
@ItsKimJava
@ItsKimJava 7 жыл бұрын
h Sug Tesla plans to double its supercharger infrastructure by the time 3 reaches full production. That won't be enough but Destination Charging may be part of the answer. Also, further software integration can update drivers on supercharger cues and wait times en route and one can plan accordingly around each supercharger based on those metrics.

Alexey Sanchez no we rarely charge to 100%. Only for long road trips and it doesn't stay at 100% for more than a few minutes.
@jamesshanks2614
@jamesshanks2614 6 жыл бұрын
I had an opportunity to talk to a Tesla engineer on vacation here in New Hampshire and he told me to charge to 100 percent and then let it sit for no more than three hours then start to drive it as after that is when it starts to degrade the battery but like Tesla said charge to 100 percent on a road trip and it only stays there a few minutes after your on the move again. When supercharging its is noisy as your listening to all the cooling power the car has which includes running the air conditioning to cool the battery to avoid thermal damage. The lithium-ion battery runs most efficiently at 74.5 degrees. And that is the temperature the battery management system tries like the devil to maintain when supercharging. Within a few minutes even in the dead of winter the battery will get hotter than it is designed it will bring on additional cooling as necessary and yes when everything is cooling it will be noisy. If you are outside of the car, if you inside the car it will be relatively quiet and comfortable even though the AC will be reduced it will still keep you comfortable even when it's over 100 degrees outside. I hope this helps.

I don't remember if it was like Tesla or someone else's channel but they were driving south of a large wildfire well clear of it but the smoke from the wildfire was thick and heavy and looked like fog on the highway so bad that their grandparents were having trouble with the smoke. Engaged the bio defense hazard system Tesla offers and within a minute or two their grandparents were breathing normally and the smell of smoke inside the cabin disappeared. The bio defense system with the way weather keeps getting crazier better to have and not need than need and not have.

Brian Whitmore yeah... video on this soon. All current owners and ones that buy before the 1st will be grandfathered. Could've seen it coming but it's dirt cheap to charge anyway. A full charge at home costs around a dollar and I'm sure for those who drive a lot, supercharging will only cost them a few dozen dollars a year once they use the free 400kwh of supercharging that will come with the car.
