I just bought my first house, and one of the most exciting parts is for the first time since I moved out of my parents’ house (I’m in my 30s now) I’m gonna have a place for my train set. That’s a pretty impressive Amtrak collection I’ve got some catching up to do.

Thanks for making the effort to post this. I am amazed! It's wonderful. I look forward to seeing this layout when the scenery is completed, but I acknowledge all the work you've done thus far. Some of your scenery I have never seen before, such as the electric power substations. Amazing! My favorite aspect: the catenary systems. Those are so cool! I've had O-scale layouts for most of my life, but this gives me an entirely new perspective. BRAVO!

.............I'm 73....As a child,,,[2 years ] my Mom told me as I grew up ; how much I loved trains......Back in 1953,,, Bklyn. NY.... My dads first house was on a dead end street [East 13 st ],,,,,,below the fence was the NYC,,,freight line ; that picked up ferried cars from New Jersey, and the freight was moved further Eastward.....I saw steam engines.....I can't remember the black clouds.......anyway.....I was fortunate....Today my mechanical passion has taken me many places ; with my top talent as an automotive engine machinist.......My dad built for me a train table in the [furnished] basement.,,,Back in the day , He could only afford to get me American Flyer train sets.....I am very grateful...for my days.......thanks.....

Quite an interesting and rather large set up. I would certainly like to see a track diagram of your layout if you have one available to share. Or do a video about how you dispatch/traffic control system is set up. I like the Custom catenary you're building and you've got some very nice station scenes and the high speed curves. Are you going to add a head house and under ground concourses to sit over your main station? I think you should look into getting some more scratch built modern towers for your urban land scape, the usual 1930s building kits are rather cookie cutter and seem out of place for such a modern themed layout you've got going (just an observation.) Maybe some modern "ToD" around your stations might liven it up a bit? Although aside from commuter service, Have you looked into adding more local transit models such as bus terminals and a subway line running under the layout?? Since there have been some Subway models announced recently. Just some ideas to consider.

What track center spacing do you use? Is the same in the curves and straight sections of your layout? I want to avoid making mistakes with my layout since we both run mostly passenger trainsets. Thx!

With 2" track centers my Amfleet cars don't have enough clearance in curves. 2 1/4" seems to work well without being super close. My minimum curve radius is 24" on the 4 track main. What spacing do you use?
