Hope you'll enjoy trying out this style as much as I already enjoy wearing it!

Thank you Anna!!! 🐦🌟💖 Because of your clear instructions I now have the very first updo in my whole life (and I'm 66 years old) that actually stays up nicely and is very comfortable and doesn't cause stress to my head and scalp! I have a silk rose pinned to the back. I have changed dresses several times today and even with all that pulling clothing over my head it looks wonderful! My hair is clean, and it works well. Thank you again so much! 💗🌷🎵

I am so happy to know how to do this. I've tried many times and didn't know how. It never worked. I have also never worn my hair up except in a ponytail 🥺 and I am 52, and of course I just cut several inches off my hair. I had no choice tho do to damage. But I am starting the " no shampoo" journey, and hope to grow it longer than ever . Love your videos!!

So..funny story: though I absolutely love hairstyle videos, I almost never do anything with my own hair, not even a ponytail. Which worked fine when I had short hair (about touching my shoulders) but now I have grown it out long, inspired by Bernadette Banner. Since it's now almost all the way down my back, I should really figure out something to do with it because having really long hair loose all the time is not ideal (had to wash food out multiple times) but since I don't like the way a ponytail looks on me, and I'm too lazy for complicated hairstyles, I just didn't for a long while. However, this video/hairstyle might just be it, it's simple, but not a ponytail! So thanks very much, I'll be trying it out right away!

When my hair is too oily that it looks bad I rub corn starch on the palms of my hands and start working it through. It actually works quite amazing. Just spend a couple minutes adding more to any areas that need it to get a fresh look.

Had butterfly clips been available to our Edwardian ancestors, feel certain that they'd have been used daily! I often use them to get my just to bra strap length hair to do Edwardian things. So much more comfortable and easy compared to rats and pins! I also do milkmaid braids and low cinnamon bun with a center part and an antique comb which is very lightweight and comfortable as well!

When my hair is getting towards wash day, I lean on very neat, tight, dutch braids. The grease actually makes them look smooth and sleek, and I don't suffer so much from flyaways. I loved your 1 minute washing machine hairdo action sequence, and though I know it was because of light levels, the chnage in colouring made it feel like a grittily shot action movie, and I HIGHLY approve! HII-YA! *does karate nunchaks moves with ponytails*

Your hair looks like polished silver. That's so striking with your young face. When my hair is dirty but I don't have time to shampoo, I press a strip of Scotch tape (do you call it that in Hungary?) onto my part, then lift it away. It lifts off any dandruff flakes without tugging out any hair. When I was young and had long thick hair, it was too heavy to stay in a bun very long. Bobby pins would launch out of the twists, LOL.

I wash my hair every two weeks, and I like to do an Edwardian inspired updo (especially in week two) but it involves many more pins, since I have only been growing it out from a pixie length for a couple of years.

I do exactly the same, but I dry shampoo my hair in-between wet shampoos, which provides the texture/grip necessary for the hairstyle to hold without needing a ton of pins! My dry shampoo is very basic, 50/50 cornflour and rhassoul. I apply it on the roots with a simple blush/powder brush, by sectioning my hair, then I massage my scalp and leave the powder a bit before brushing it all out. I've been growing my hair from a bobcut for a year, it's currently reaching the middle of my back, with 3b hair that also has waves near the roots. Edit: btw the rhassoul is in part because I have brown hair. If your pfp is a pic of you, then I either recommend rhassoul or straight up coal powder if you have black hair, to darken the white of the cornflour! For other peeps reading it, cinnamon powder is good for red hair!

Love the simple easy hairdo,I used to twist and twirl to the end as my hair used to be hinny length, and then take the twirl from the end and clip it once on top with the clip showing in the back. Love Anna’s ginger cat I fed my little woodie friends, birds, squirrels, turtles, and kitties. Dogs eat more than what I bring, but there’s many neighbors that have dogs. So I don’t see too many cats and dogs but different birds, crows, hawks robins and wrens and blue jays, So my hair style is just in a ponytail, but love the Gibson girl look, and it’s great for summer heat!

My nr.1 tip is that i keep the front of my hair out of my face 24/7 with clips or hair combs, because otherwise it will get greasy the quickest. The top of my head will get greasy next and then i will do a high bun to cover it up. I also wear headscarfs, turbans and hats on bad hair days. Loved the video :)

Thank you this is brilliant! I’ve always wanted to do this type of bun but I refuse to tease my hair and I don’t have time for something like pincurls in the morning as some other tutorials tell you to do. I’ve given it a go and the most “difficult” part is for me is to keep twisting in the same direction when I push my hair back (but I also mix up a braid if I look in the mirror, it’s a me issue, not a tutorial issue).

Depending on the reason of your thinning you might also want to switch up the way you part/style your hair it might not be the reason behind it but it's generally good practice and, specially when your hair is not squeaky clean it does create a bit of lift and volume (that's why in the 90s women who blowdried their hair and men who had longer hair would always switch up the top of their hair, to create a more voluminous, lived in look)

Huh. I've been reading the Anne of Green Gables series for the first time and there's a character in Anne of Avonlea named Miss Lavender. She's described as a very pretty and youthful looking woman (they also say she's an "old maid" at 40, which isn't old haha) with grey hair. This video randomly popped up on my YT feed and you look just how I imagined her in my head. Youthful, pretty, and even sporting the Edwardian hairstyle which is the time frame the books are set in. (Just to be clear you don't look 40, or old in any way! Not that being old is a bad thing.) Your hair is gorgeous, and the Gibson style and that whole time period is just my ultimate favorite. So beautiful. I cannot wait for my hair to go more grey, it's stunning!

I tend to go for less voluminous styles when my hair is a bit greasy- so milkmaid braids work really well, or a more mid Victorian bun with a middle part. If I really want a Gibson girl hairstyle when my hair is greasy though, I just go ham with the dry shampoo. That works well too. I find it really difficult to do the ponytail away from the scalp truck, because my hair is curly enough that it is too messy, but not so curly that the ness of curls looks good. So if I want to do a really nice Gibson girl updo, I usually straighten at least the hair closest to my scalp, for the first five or six inches or so. I try not to straighten the lot, as the hair from the shoulders down is quite flanged from previously bleaching it. So I try to avoid straightening the lengths of my hair.

my grandma used invisible little combs in the middle, or on each side like she want and then she make all her very long hair in a big fluffi bun. she only used some U-hairneedles to hold and fix it in form at place. I use these U-hairneedles now myselfe and I´m always amazed at how well and safely hold these mostly invisible simple U-hairpins. in my memories she always looked elegant like a lady. I´m sure - all these techniques that I saw as a child when she tamed her very long hair are easy to care for and safe throughout the day.

My hair's not nearly so long but I discovered a fun kinda updo that works for it, similar to this, I hang my head upside down and do a really loose braid at the end, then when I stand up straight I use a barrette or clip to suspend the braid (might have enough hair now to coil it once), stick my fingers through the hair before the braid to fluff it up a bit, it'll usually stay if it's freshly washed but if it's not, I'd hit it with some hairspray, or gel it a bit before I braid it so it stays in place. It's nice and loose and doesn't pull and hangs softly while still keeping it out of my way. Way more interesting than the straight boring braid I usually keep my hair safe in. Mine doesn't care where it parts as long as it does part, though changing the part is best done right after a wash, My trick for refreshing greasy hair is I slap a damp facecloth on my head and give myself a scalp massage through the cloth, it gets some of the heaviness off the hair near my scalp. I also don't wash mine very often, rarely more often than every other week, and I don't use shampoo so even greasy for me isn't all that greasy anymore.

When my hair is a bit too greasy at the roots and is going flat, I will do the fingertip massage thing but not smooth it out afterwards. The little almost-tangles right at the root prop up my hair and it makes all my layers pop back out and look "cool" instead of "finals week". I will also use a powder puff to put cornstarch just in my bangs and around the front hairline. Makes everything else look intentionally rock and roll instead of greasy :)

I always wondered how to do this hairstyle, thank you soo much!! ~{p.s. thank you soo much for not using Bobby pins in the demonstration or saying that Bobby pins were an absolute must, as I am awful at Bobby pinning, but claw clips, they will forever be one of my go to’s}~

👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🖤👍🏼🤟🏼Great job! I’m definitely gonna give this a try. When my hair is greasy I like to do a “roll-ish” thing on the sides with a middle part and then a quick bun in the back (held with clips). Or I just give up and do a bun in the back and put a nice kerchief or bandanna over it all, tie it in the back and clip it down.🖤

My hair never gets greasy! It's sooooo dry even when I add oil it just soaks it up like water in a desert 🙄 which by the way, your tip in your monthly wash video about adding oil the day before you wash saved my hair when it got too dry and stripped from washing in a new house. Now I add oil to my hair everyday to keep it soft and moisturized!

When my hair gets greasy, I brush the grease out toward the middle & ends, with boar bristles. Usually that is enough. When it's not, I do a close-to-my head top bun, like the bun you showed in your other video, but on the top of my head, not the back. My hair is getting long enough that when I am in a rush & need to transfer the clothes from the washer to the dryer, I have to make a fast bun, like that, but a little looser, or my hair falls into the wet clothes, catches on my arms, falls into my eyes, etc. I do it for cooking too. Hair in open flames is very bad! (Gas stove.)

One of the styles that works with my hair before I wash it is a victory roll on the top, front, right side of my forehead and then the rest of my hair pulled into a high ponytail with a scarf wrapped around it. Also, I will do the victory roll and then put the rest into a head scarf.

I found that up dos with hair sticks or hair combs work better with greasier hair, freshly washed is just too slippery to hold up.

French rolls and knots, Chinese buns that you can learn how to do on haartrum frisuren KZfaq channels, as well as hair styles similar to the one you just posted as well as regular French braids, work really well on my greasy hair days. Your kitty is adorable too.🥰💗💕

When my hair is freshly washed it will not say in anything without tons of flyaways, so when I want to do anything else than a simple braid or a stick held nautilus and I have greasy hair I pull out all the more intricate braided styles. My hair doesn't have much volume when greasy but it holds updos nicely and has a pretty shine - perfect for braids :D I'm excited to try out this :3 (I have lightly wavy medium everything dark brown fingerip length hair :D)

Your hair is so pretty!! Love it, the color and fullness! I unfortunately have long but fine, thin hair, so some styles just don’t work for me, this one does but I have a LOT less bun.

My hair is thick, coarse and heavy. Pony tails are my daily style but can give me a headache after days of pull from the same spot on my scalp. When this happens, I divide my hair horizontally and create two pony tails situated vertically and close together. The pull changes just enough to give my scalp a break. Finish with a fluff scrunci or scarf wrap to hide the double elastics. 🙂
