In English: Female host: There are finally two germans again, who have managed in a few weeks to reach very high on the charts with their song. Though not with a german, but with an english text. Male host: Modern talking is their name, and they've recently been our guests. Female host: At first, of course we wanted to know who those two even are, and where they're from. Dieter: Well, I'm from Hamburg, and he's from Koblenz. We met each other around 2 years ago for the first time. There I've produced him, still in german. And, hmm, that didn't go so well... And the songs weren't really that much to our liking... And then we thought, what are we doing next? And, then, we recorded some english songs, and it sounded way better, we really liked it, and that was also more the kind of music that appeals to us. And yeah, then we, I made about 100 demos for him, and then we checked out what seems best, and yeah, till one day You're my heart you're my soul, came. We then recorded that in the studio and we really liked it, that's how it went. Male interviewer: Thomas, you aren't that new, you've done things before, what instrument do you actually play? Thomas: I'm playing the piano, I had 12 years of piano lessons, and then you can do quite some things, or should be able to do quite some things. And... well... I'm already doing this since a few years, that means about 5, 6 years under contract, like, kind of professionally you could say, I, first did my Abitur (German graduation from high school to allow one to go to university) however, and took it more slowly, and then, after my Abitur, I met Dieter, and that way it fit really well, that we had time to work on things together. Male interviewer: I think you two did "Pick Up The Phone" in german, from F.R. David, is that correct? Thomas: Mhm. Dieter: Yeah, well I am actually and have professionaly always been a producer... in germany... and, composer and such, and... then we've been asked, to do the german cover version of it, so we did it back then. But we didn't really like it much. Wasn't really our thing. Male interviewer: Modern talking, "Modernes Gerede" (literal german translation of modern talking), That's a name for a german duo that sings in english... how is it, do you not want to sing in german? Thomas: No, it's really simple, we often get this question, and one might be able to explain it this way: One always kind of blames the singer when german singers sing in english, but I experienced this myself, I did german music for 5 years and I can say they weren't bad songs, nothing where you'd say from the beginning "This won't become anything", but there were really songs among them that had chances of being in the charts, and now we, just for fun, just to kind of see how it'd sound, make an english production and we immediately shoot up to place 2 in the charts. And then you have to also kind of speak with your audience, think about where this came from, and when this becomes so successful outside of germany, in Europe, and worldwide, then we will definitely continue in english. Male interviewer: Your fans surely want to see you live too. Are there any live gigs? Thomas: Starting from...March. It's starting very slowly from then on. We want it to start very slowly. And then we just gotta see how it goes with time, that we seriously start.

Dieter constantly answered such questions; that they are busy with what they love, and do not bother that his songs carried some kind of message to people. Even without realizing that they will be so in demand in the future, because they are only gifted vessels in the hands of the Creator.

Ich dachte nicht, dass jemand dieses Interview hatte. Ich hatte es 1985 im Deutschen Fernsehen gesehen, ausserdem gibt es mehr von Bravo TV. Bravo TV interviewte und veroffentlichte in dieser Zeit alle beruhmten Sanger und Kunstler, so erschienen diese Zeitschriften. Es hat damals so viel Spass gemacht zuzuschauen. Danke schon!

И это называется- Модерн Токинг. Они не так давно уже были в гостях на нашем канале и наши редакторы в первую очередь хотят знать, кто же эти двое немцев и откуда они взялись? ДБ- Я родом из Гамбурга, а он (Томас) из Кобленца. И два года назад я впервые встретил его. Он пел на немецком языке, и это было вовсе не супер, но вот наши дорожки случайным образом и пересеклись. Но мы не такие уж какие-то особенные, сейчас думаем, что же делать дальше, но всё же хотим петь песни на английском языке, ведь это звучит лучше, делать больше музыки, которая нам нравится, и у меня уже есть про запас 100 демо-версий, на всякий случай, и этого должно хватить, пока не скажем Стоп. В студии всё тоже хорошо, работаем как звери. -Томас, для тебя это вроде не новая работа. Ты ведь делал уже подобное что-то раньше? Ты ведь на самом деле можешь играть на инструменте? Томас: Я играю уже 12 лет на пианино. Я брал уроки игры на инструменте и в состоянии что-то сделать сам. И я занимаюсь примерно с пяти-шести лет, практически уже профессионал, но сначала я всё же окончил среднюю школу, а затем ушёл и стал абитуриентом. Это вот хорошо, что теперь я встретил Дитера, теперь я что-то делаю вместе с ним и мы заключили свой первый контракт, по которому нам стали платить. - Я думаю, что теперь в твоих руках весь музыкальный фон и власть в Германии? И это правильно на самом деле, в принципе.. ДБ: - На самом деле, если бы мы были заинтересованы в том, чтобы сделать немецкую кавер-версию того, что сейчас сделано, то это бы не так чувствовалось как сейчас на английском. И как мне сказал ещё один из немецких продюсеров и композиторов в Германии- сделай немецкую кавер-версию так, что чтобы все прочувствовали. Модерн Токинг это уникальный немецкий дуэт, в котором поют по-английски а не на немецком. Томас: Это правда, сложный вопрос и трудно объяснить, что толкает певцов так делать стоя в чёрных лаковых туфлях. На самом деле я приведу свой собственный пример, когда я пою с пяти лет по-немецки, и у меня не было плохих песен, и мы словно путешественники, которые вмиг могут стать ничем. Но теперь у нас появился шанс, попали в чарты, и мы это делаем ради удовольствия, просто для того, чтобы лучше знать, как это всё звучит по-английски. Мы уже заняли второе место, выступали перед аудиторией в 500 человек, и надеемся, что следующий результат будет ещё успешнее. И мы уже начинаем работать потихоньку не только в Европе, но и надеемся, что скоро и во всем мире. и английский язык поможет нам приобрести новых фанатов. - А можем ли мы увидеть ваши живые выступления? Томас: В МАРТЕ. Но время бежит так медленно..Но пусть так всё и идёт потихоньку и не спеша, а потом со временем мы увидим, что получится и как будет, потому что мы ещё только начали расти..

Es ist interessant: Thomas wirkt neben Dieter erstmal wie ein kleines Mäuschen. Aber als er dann redet, bemerkt man schon, dass er einen soliden Hintergrund hat. Ein Grund warum Thomas immer als Musiker im Vordergrund stehen wird und Dieter immer andere Leute braucht(e) um seine lyrischen Werke zu Geld zu machen. Ich bezweifle auf keinen Fall seine Fähigkeiten als Produzent, Songwriter oder Instrumentalist. Aber er wollte ja immer auf der Bühne sein und gesehen werden...

No he wasn't brand new to the job, he had started as a singer in 1973 (in band called Mayfair, sadly can't find any songs online from them) and his music production career in 1978

Краткий перевод от "Modern Talking World": Вкратце: "Ну, наконец-то появились впервые за несколько недель эти два немца, на вершине немецких чартов, но с английским текстом. И это называется- Модерн Токинг. Они не так давно уже были в гостях на нашем канале и наши редакторы в первую очередь хотят знать, кто же эти двое немцев и откуда они взялись? ДБ- Я родом из Гамбурга, а он (Томас) из Кобленца. И два года назад я впервые встретил его. Он пел на немецком языке, и это было вовсе не супер, но вот наши дорожки случайным образом и пересеклись. Но мы не такие уж какие-то особенные, сейчас думаем, что же делать дальше, но всё же хотим петь песни на английском языке, ведь это звучит лучше, делать больше музыки, которая нам нравится, и у меня уже есть про запас 100 демо-версий, на всякий случай, и этого должно хватить, пока не скажем Стоп. В студии всё тоже хорошо, работаем как звери. -Томас, для тебя это вроде не новая работа. Ты ведь делал уже подобное что-то раньше? Ты ведь на самом деле можешь играть на инструменте? Томас: Я играю уже 12 лет на пианино. Я брал уроки игры на инструменте и в состоянии что-то сделать сам. И я занимаюсь примерно с пяти-шести лет, практически уже профессионал, но сначала я всё же окончил среднюю школу, а затем ушёл и стал абитуриентом. Это вот хорошо, что теперь я встретил Дитера, теперь я что-то делаю вместе с ним и мы заключили свой первый контракт, по которому нам стали платить. - Я думаю, что теперь в твоих руках весь музыкальный фон и власть в Германии? И это правильно на самом деле, в принципе.. ДБ: - На самом деле, если бы мы были заинтересованы в том, чтобы сделать немецкую кавер-версию того, что сейчас сделано, то это бы не так чувствовалось как сейчас на английском. И как мне сказал ещё один из немецких продюсеров и композиторов в Германии- сделай немецкую кавер-версию так, что чтобы все прочувствовали. Модерн Токинг это уникальный немецкий дуэт, в котором поют по-английски а не на немецком. Томас: Это правда, сложный вопрос и трудно объяснить, что толкает певцов так делать стоя в чёрных лаковых туфлях. На самом деле я приведу свой собственный пример, когда я пою с пяти лет по-немецки, и у меня не было плохих песен, и мы словно путешественники, которые вмиг могут стать ничем. Но теперь у нас появился шанс, попали в чарты, и мы это делаем ради удовольствия, просто для того, чтобы лучше знать, как это всё звучит по-английски. Мы уже заняли второе место, выступали перед аудиторией в 500 человек, и надеемся, что следующий результат будет ещё успешнее. И мы уже начинаем работать потихоньку не только в Европе, но и надеемся, что скоро и во всем мире. и английский язык поможет нам приобрести новых фанатов. - А можем ли мы увидеть ваши живые выступления? Томас: В МАРТЕ. Но время бежит так медленно..Но пусть так всё и идёт потихоньку и не спеша, а потом со временем мы увидим, что получится и как будет, потому что мы ещё только начали расти..
