What happens if your transmission isn't in Park if you get out of the car? We find out with a Mercedes-Benz AMG A45.

this happens on most cars with a joy stick style gear selector happens on my range rover evouqe my a250 2015 model used to work just like this on my dads bmw 750i he had in 2006 but still a great vid for ppl who didnt know about this safety feature or assumed it was faulty when selecting park by its self another neat trick is press the brake peddle hard when stoped so the hold feature comes on then switch the car off you will see it go into park and the park beak will activate on its own another trick is if you have all the windows open fully or a crack just hold the air circulate button down and all the windows will close all together

I've got amg gla45 so you were moveing forward in drive and opened the door and park brake came abruptly on... would that park brake come on like that at 60 mph on freeway if a door was opened ???....someone opens the door because they thought it wasn't shut proply whyle your doing 60...so the rear wheels would just lock up???

So what happens if am in second gear in M mode in the revs ar very high in a for get to shit up dose it cut the power to keep the car safe ?

Thanks for the very informative review! I gather you own the A45 - may I ask you if on cold start when selecting R immediately after starting the engine, there is a distinct mechanical noise when R is engaged. This does not happen when the engine is warm or subsequent shifts. I have noticed this noise just recently after only 2 weeks of owning a late 2015 Facelifted a45 AMG. Thanks a lot! Vik

hello my a45 have the same sound when i put in R ,is that normal??

Depending on how bad (how often the "crunch" happens) and under what circumstances (mine only happens when engaging R on cold and once every 10-15 times; the gearbox works flawlessly otherwise) you must discuss this with your local dealer as soon as possible. Some owners have had their gear boxes replaced under warranty. Good luck. gtiz52006

NOT normal ,this is a transmission problem ,Mercedes fixed mine for free , you should get the car to the dealership

hello, what happens when u put the car in manual transmission mode and lets say keep on pressing the gas pedal and not shift up, does it shift automatically up or what happens

The car kinda cuts the power off as you hit the limiter. I’ve done it a few times by accident. Those 1st and 2nd gears in manual go quicker than you realise 🤣

I have the same model Mercedes but I find Mercedes' idea of what's best for drivers these days rather annoying for the knowledgable owner. Unlike other vehicle manufacturers Mercedes has a tendency to limit owner's options to customize or even bypass certain set-up parameters (for example, the infamous Stop-Start module) of the ECU and individual module options. I consider Mercedes' limitations in module configuration in some instances to be a hinderance to ease of use and enjoyment of ownership.
