I like that it starts with the basics. Even long time watercolor painters need to go back and do the basics every now and then.

as a watercolor teacher, it looks like this would be an excellent book for my beginning students, very detailed instructions. As someone who has been striving to paint flowers for several years now, i would rate Billy Schowell's books higher, more for advanced students.

This really is such a beautiful book! I totally agree with you. And I always love when these books explain how to use all your materials. There's always a new tip to learn or maybe you pickup a different technique you would have never thought of

I just needed to listen to and think about than the pandemia madness right now, and your vids are just perfect for that 🙏🙏🙏🙏 I never put much thought into watercolour techniques, I have to admit, they just seemed sooooo similar (and then aren't) to the opaque ones that I practically used all my life ^^' But that book looks so well-crafted and designed (which I'm a definite sucker for, doing layout work is such a big part of studying architecture and I really like doing it, too), I'll just think about buying it, no matter if I'd actually use it (which I probably would) or not. I'd probably scan the pages, print them out on card stock (as heavy as the printer would take), let the ink dry and settle thouroughly and use that for colouring, if I weren't able to draw myself (or didn't feel like it and just wanted something to colour and relax, which - let's be we probably all could use right now, at least here in Europe where the numbers [come on, you all know which I mean, I'm not gonna write it out ;)] are peaking again 😖. I've been doing that with those omnipresent and very popular Mandala colouring books ever since my childhood when I needed to settle my turmoiling mind and some nice flowers would definitely be a nice break in pace)

Teoh, have you seen the follow up to this book called, Watercolor Workbook. Really beautiful, very stylish. I have both and would say the second book is much nicer, much better quality. One problem and it's always the problem with these books, it's not ring bound like the first one. Still well worth buying though.
