MODERNIZING my 2G DSM with Moman Gauges AND Alpine ILXW-650 (Carplay & Reverse Cam)

Installed a bunch of sick lights, gauges, and features with my android auto head unit to my 97 eclipse gsx. Now I can launch and listen..hah
This video is somewhat of a how-to, for the moman gauges as well as wiring up the head unit.
I already had an alpine amp in this so I wired the head unit to that. The gauges are from moman.pl/en/ and are dope, but not cheap to ship from Poland!

let me know if you have any questions. They seem to be good quality and also smelt like cologne when I opened them lol. These mods are crucial for an enjoyable ride. The interior is what you see the most when driving! ;) The LEDs are so good and being back lit, they give a nice soft glow, that pops in person
The head unit with the reverse cam is a nice modernizing touch so I don't have to fight with an aggressive clutch and reverse in tight spots with no view at the same time

That is a great payoff. I bought (used) OEM radio brackets when I bought my car 7 years ago but turns out I didn't need them so now I'm out $30 for 2 paperweights. Oh, well. My current Jensen head unity needs to be replaced with another laying around because 2 years ago the installed one's touchscreen became dead on the left side. The ($20) gauges purchased 5 years ago will need to be installed. You made the wiring look more ... comfortable. Can wire in amps, sub, LEDs, but intimidated by overlays! D: Now just wishing to have a GSX... or hell, even a GS-T. A 2G is a rare find in the wild.

looks amazing, but i love the stock amber because it doesnt fuck with my night driving and retrocuzzz :D backup cam is def overkill lol. like 4 feet of car behind you, if there's anything there, it's in the big ol space bubble :DDD

Hey what mounting kit did you use? I have a 98 talon tsi awd and it has the factory double din. I just ordered a kenwood dmx957xr. I bought it from crutchfield and I also go the amp integration ready harness they sell.

So I just got a 96 2g from the original owner today, I was wondering if to swap out the 99 style headlights all I'd need is the 99 style body kit? Is that possible or is the wiring different & fenders different too? Can't fully tell if it's that simple of a swap but I really hope so

it should be plug and play as far as i know, but id check on the forums to make sure the headlight wiring isnt any different. Im not sure about hood, but i know bumpers are obviously needed and headlights/tails

the one i got is specified in the title haha. i like it besides the fact the android auto seems to disconnect sometimes when im on throttle. it might just be because of the USB cable, i have to try using another one

hey bro how did you go about ensuring that the speedo is accurate. as the scale would be different to stock yeah is there like a resistor or somthing 170mph is not 300kph after all @@CrispyImmy

@@kiwiboycars8702 hmm good point. The speedo does stay accurate, if you look at both carefully, you'll notice this speedo goes past the original's range. it actually lines up to the Fuel gauge (under the F) meanwhile stock 170mph doesn't even point that low

thanks, im 99% sure its just the blue (order details don't confirm anything). Aquamarine ends up being a lot lighter. I see a lot of people have ordered these from my video. I may inquire if I can get a discount code or something!

You should have drilled the proper while in the back for the camera you know as most do when wiring. No wires showing, show no wires , hide all wires ! Lol

I was the new owner and I figured it out. I didn't change anything just used the existing loom and wired it to the new deck. Plus there won't be any new owners for this 😉

@@CrispyImmy that's half true. You added a lot and when cutting the loom the rewired setup is fine, it's just a mess. Do it however works for you but norm it's a simple adapter instead of all this... I'm not trying to be mean bro just saying. And also I get that this car is home forever with you!

@@timmann111 the loom that I cut was just the previous decks connector. The other side that went to the car was the adapter lol. I'm just didn't get a new one cus what's the point lol. But no offense taken

@@CrispyImmy ahhhh I see I thought it was the stock loom. I apologize. Because of u I am buying the gauge setup, it looks dope! I have my stock radio still so when I install whatever double din I should be good with a simple adapter. At least I hope lol
