Thank you, Father, for this much-needed homily. There are times when I have to close my eyes when at Mass to keep my focus on God. There are times when I have actually brought earplugs with me to church to block out people's conversations in the sanctuary before the start of Mass, Thank you for the tip about having exterior silence in order to develop interior silence. I have been wearing a veil to Mass tor two years.

It’s amazing...the priest just said something about LOUD CHILDREN...and yet the parents allow it to go on and on...

PenanceWare decade done. Thank you Father. All so very true and needs to be said. I was in a church a long time ago with a baby screaming during the sermon, and the priest stopped talking for a painfully long period of time, he just stood there looking down. I think the baby was taken out, but it always bothered me that the priest pretty soon afterward went away. I liked him a lot, he gave good sermons, and I wondered if that had anything to do with his leaving. It's a modernist diocese.

It was kind of hurtful to hear all the noise in the background while he was giving his homily. This really only affirms how gracious and upright the Father is, because while I was listening I found myself becoming angry...which is not good.

You would think after the Father hinted so many times about the noise, that the parents would taken a hint to take the fussy child out, while the Father was trying to give his homily, I'm sure the Father must have taken them aside after Mass to talk to them about this. I think it's a very ignorant and disrespectful that the parents could not take the hint of what the father was saying during his homily. Let us pray for wisdom for the parents!!! Amen!!!

Yes indeed...and I'm with you...it was almost unbelievable to hear. Again Father R is a good man, way better than me, because I may have been inclined to pause and say "are you kidding me right now?" LOL Which shows I have work to do as well. Lord help me, I was so annoyed.

There tends to be quite a few children at TLM's and it is therefore natural that there will baby's crying and making noises. While it is true and just that children that make too much noise should be immediately taken to the back, in many instances you can still hear them. Do you have a lot of siblings or children? Most people who have 3-4 children under the age of 6 wont be able to always make them all quiet at the same time even if they have older children to help out. I speak from experience with my siblings and most traditional priests understand. (In my situation at least)

(In my situation at least) Jesus also stated "let the children come to me" but I fully understand taking your child to the back is sometimes necessary, its just important not to discourage the presence of children as some liberal novus ordo priests have in my dioceses.

Just now, listening to you in this video, I hear kids screaming. What's up with that parents, don't have any sense to calm down their kids. Just saying. God bless!!.

“Let the little children come to Me”.(unquote) It is the immature adults that have to grow up, discipline their children at home who will then behave in Church & everywhere.

How does the virtue of silence apply to a child with a disability? We have a daughter with a rare disease that affects her cognitive ability and behavior. We're constantly trying to teach her to be quiet at Mass, but it's a weekly battle.

Have you spoken to your priest on your issue? Let him know you are working on trying to keep her quiet. The priest knows these are children. And sometimes they are going to be a bit loud at times. Common sense is usually the best thing to follow. If she is making noise more loudly than normal, then take her out to the entrance of the church until she settles down, then come back into the church. As father said during his sermon, you've still made your Sunday obligation even though you had to step out for a few minutes to quiet your little one.

Before I knew my son had an intact intellect, I once pointed a sign that said something like SILENCE, THIS IS A HOUSE OF PRAYER. He started laughing and he did try, so after that I used that phrase. House of prayer. I try to keep a balance between having some expectations for him and knowing that it will look different than typical counterparts. Just try your best and leave it in the hands of God.

Can you describe pennanceware? Does it apply when you only download or share the video or does it still apply even if you just watch the video on KZfaq?

You have good intentions and you're asking the right questions. Let's think: Do you want to do the minimum possible? If yes, rethink your response. "Jesus, see, I just barely followed all of the precepts of the Church. Can I get into heaven now?" Maybe, but don't count on it. Be generous! (I have to work on all of this, too.) So the answer to my question is no. You do not want to do the minimum. If you think about it, the minimum is skipping the penanceware regardless of how you used the talk. Maybe you are clever enough to not view that part of the video, or to only listen. Maybe you don't want to "fall to the peer pressure" of words on a screen. There are many ways to escape. In any case, we should want to be generous. So do your penanceware. Support this priest who is trying to help your soul. Short answers to your original questions, now that you have hopefully read the rest: Yes; I have done so Yes (although that question sends mixed signals) Yes

Thanks Brandon for your response. I’ve read it all. I don’t want to in any way shape or form, settle for mediocre when it comes to the fairh. I honestly see the KZfaq channel Sensus Fidellium as saint school. Even before I’ve started paying attention to penanceware. So I just think of what Padre Pio or any of the saints would do if they were in my shoes as a viewer of saint school. So I now adhere to penanceware of Fr rippperger and the three Hail Marys of the other priests. The end goal is to be a Saint so I will do my best and do everything I can to do things the way Our Lord wants.

Hey Brandon just curious, do you normally attend a traditional mass and parish? I’m confused on the subject of the difference between the “Modern version and traditional.” I would go to traditional but the only one is far away from where I live. So my question Is, is one better than the other and if so, what does that mean for the people like me who go to the Modern due to location and ease of access?
@brandonlewandowski2545
@brandonlewandowski2545 6 жыл бұрын
Did I mention "modern version and traditional"? Seemingly not. Oh well. To answer the first question, yes and no. No, not normally, because of obligations, but yes, fairly regularly. So you're saying you're almost clueless about "traditional mass"? Some other names, roughly in order of prevalence, include Extraordinary Form (of the Roman Rite), Traditional Latin Mass, just Latin Mass (though there is Novus Ordo in Latin), 1962 Missal, Missal of John XXIII, Vetus Ordo (Older Order (of the Mass)), and Usus Antiquor (Antiquated Use of the Roman Rite). The Second Vatican Council, a pastoral council, changed all of liturgy in ways that it hasn't normally changed before. However, the old version still exists, and has official approval (look up Summorum Pontificum if you feel like it). Although some of the following are generalizations and are not explicitly parts of the two forms or rites, here are some differences: The Novus Ordo has public intercessions at the end of the Liturgy of the Word. Latin Mass is always Latin. During the development of Novus Ordo, they decided they wanted freestanding altars and most of Mass to be said facing the people, rather than parts addressed to God facing the high altar and parts addressed to the people facing them. Vestments tend to be different, in style, and one vestment, the maniple, was removed for the Novus Ordo. Novus Ordo encourages (and almost demands) outward participation of all attending, including responses, hymns, and ministries that do not exist or are reserved to priests or servers in Vetus Ordo. Many gestures are simplified, reduced, or removed in the Novus Ordo. The options, such as for penitential rites, eucharistic prayers, and added comments at various points, which are standard in Novus Ordo, are fixed or do not exist in Vetus Ordo. Communion is almost exclusively kneeling and on the tongue, distributed by the celebrant priest and maybe an assisting priest depending on the parish, is almost universally followed in Vetus Ordo. There is more silence and personal contemplation of the unfolding events in Latin Mass, though transitioning to it, people might be annoyed that they don't have a direct external part to play. Latin Mass consists of very gradual developments of the original Eucharistic Liturgy rite used in Rome, started by St. Peter, according to tradition, but unwritten for a while (or the copies have been lost) during persecutions. Novus Ordo used Vetus Ordo as a framework, but then took interesting elements from previous versions of the rite (usually from the writings of the Church Fathers) or from other rites, and put these all together to make a new (novus) rite, though since it is still based on Vetus Ordo, it is popularly considered a continuation of the same rite. The standard response to the question of whether one is better is no. They are objectively the same thing, a valid and licit celebration of the Eucharist, a re-presentation of Christ's sacrifice on the cross and an outpouring of the graces derived from that sacrifice, a foretaste of the heavenly liturgy, the celebration of Jesus's resurrection, the coming of the Son to Earth in material form again, a prayer of praise, thanks, petition, and propitiation... However, they are different in externals, and this certainly plays an effect on how we receive in a limited way the infinite graces available through the Sacrament. Partially because of the rite and partially because it is a fringe group of people who frankly do care more, Latin Mass tends to have a more sacred atmosphere and tends not to have grave (or not so grave) abuses. Although some people will disagree, both forms are good; they are both a Eucharistic Liturgy. Is one better? In terms of the hidden spiritual reality of what is being celebrated, no, but from a commonsense standpoint, you should have an answer. What does this mean for you? You're okay. You don't automatically go to hell for attending the Novus Ordo. Your goal is still holiness. You should still try to pray the mass rather than simply spectating and giving your robotic output. Your spiritual engagement in the Mass is most of what you can control, not the priest. You still have to live well the part of your life that isn't Mass. Are you missing out on graces? Answer that yourself. Is it a matter of grave necessity? Not really. Don't fall into relativism, but you aren't doomed.
