Secularism in India is one sided : 1. Govt. controls Hindu temples not other religious places. 2. Only 'constitutional Hindus' personal laws are codified not others. 3. There is no place for things like Haz subsidies in secular republic. 4. Polygamy is allowed only for one religion not for others. 5. Hindus can't even reclaim their places of worship cz it hurts the votebank of a party. Either reform above to make India a 'true secular' or completely remove 'secular' from Preamble, there's no need to be a banana republic.

Govt is doing a favor to your faith by controlling temples so that people you lot consider inferior to you can enter and still be a part of your faith. This is coz there’s a history of bigotry by some in your faith. I agree that faith based subsidies should be done away with, by the way please check how many free temple visit schemes are either being promised or running right now. Tribals practice polygamy too, you really should read up a little at least other than WhatsApp university that is. Should Buddhists also be allowed to reclaim their places of worship or is this an exclusive claims of Brahminism only?

How have Hindus been taken for a ride? Hindus control the economy and business. All notable business people are Hindus. Hindus control politics and majority of the PMs and Presidents are Hindus. Hindus still constitute the majority of the country. Everywhere you go, it's mostly Hindus. Their presence is obvious. Hindus make up a massive chunk of the intellectual community. Hindus also are the largest in terms of NRIs and people working/studying outside. So where exactly is argument coming from? If Hindus were taken for a ride, would all these have been possible?

Its stupid to compare Bangladesh with India. India has extremely diverse economy - from reasonably good agriculture to IT industry, Pharma/Automobile, ISRO etc etc. And huge population from Northern belt. OTOH Bangladesh imports lot of stuff from us and has limited economy. For example, good states like TN, Kerala, MAH, Telangana, Gujarat outperform Bangladesh on many counts. There are some states that are quite wealthy - none that Bangladesh can compare with.

There is nothing g new in what Mr Patel is saying. Many have seen thos happening over last 9 yrs. Opposition has also been higighting it both inside and outside parliament. Patel says Modi should have explained why he follows a certain policy! He will not do so. The Indian people have been benign and accepting all this. Unless the people are made to realise the down side of Modis actions and they are mobilised in mass mivements he will nit hold back. We are steadily progressing towards a dictatorship and a theocratic state.

I think Secularism is abused by self because of partisan attitude from Kashmir issue to Babri case. All constitutional words from secularism to rights are used by so call intellectuals to subjugate majority Hindus. They din't see Ram temple below Babri even after archaeological survey. It is not Modi that made the word a term of abuse. It is the previous governments and the state governments who wanted to pamper certain categories of Indians. They used the concept of secularism to pamper one community against the equal status to all the people of the country. Modi should be complemented to have made certain class feel proud of their ancient culture, while earlier they did not have voice even to get their due recognition
