Modifying and customizing our toys are some of the greatest joys when it comes to motorcycle riding. However, too much of a good thing can become a bad thing. A lot of people, myself included, find it hard to control themselves and so endlessly modify to the detriment of the machine and even their own riding enjoyment can result. I made the recent addition of Rizoma race retro handlebars and removed the db killer from my Spark racing exhaust on my 2023 XSR 900 and both of these have introduced some negative aspects which have me contemplating reversing course. At the same time there are a lot of ways these mods have brought me joy and keep the bike feeling fresh. It is a delicate tightrope walk but important to keep in mind because something you think you will enjoy can sometimes lessen your enjoyment. You may not admit it to yourself but if you ever find yourself riding less, you've unconsciously already realized it. Don't be afraid to about-face and undo any modification at any point! If we admit when we were wrong, we can learn and grow indefinitely! Also, some mild rain throughout the video, so there do be spots.
And now for some E-BEGGING

I like how you're including the losses as well as the gains that you get with each modification. This is an honest perception that needs to be expressed. Nice tree!

" Be kind to your hearing, you'll miss it when it's gone. ". Same as you, straight pipes and loud music destroyed mine. The tinnitus is the worst part. I checked out your specific bike specs and it's a beast, well- engineered.

Ya I'm at the point I can't sleep in silence because the ringing is so loud. Easy fix I let youtube go at night and prob support so many channels by not skipping ads I sleep through 🤣 I have a bunch of ear plugs I honestly just need to make the habit for a couple weeks then I'll wear them without thinking. I love this bike so much I mostly just made this channel as a way to share how great it is lol yamaha where is my check?!

I didnt notice how shorter those bars are until you said. Put the old ones back on. They are the number one thing people say that is cool on the bike along with the headlight. Mirrors i totally agree . Looking into something better. Great channel . Keep it up.

There's a big difference between a mod (modification) and an addition. Modern bikes have really good components (and have the replacement costs to prove it!) and it's hard to improve upon them. On the other hand, most bikes are missing critical additions such as: axle sliders, frame sliders, drop sliders, solid rear sets (that function as additional frame sliders), shocks, and adjustable handlebars and seats. Any sort of mod or addition is money that's completely lost when you go to sell the bike so choose wisely. I did just pick up a 2022 XSR900 with 600 miles on it, and to be fair I do think it does need a rear shock or lower handlebars as I think it sits weirdly low for a sportbike. However, mods like louder exhaust just don't do much except be noisy and irritate people like me who do not like loud motorcycles when we're pedestrians.

Ya I agree here. I love my exhaust but I also acknowledge that if you're ever in a situation where you can't have fun with the bike like you want because you know how loud it'll be, you've made the bike less fun.

I like your observation about the components coming well made. It makes sense why most things feel like a trade off rather than only improving everything.

Good of you to admit when it's not working. I think maybe you just needed to experience the mod craziness once, i think a lot of us do. Maybe it will help to think instead of spending the cash put it towards track days or advanced training or maybe next bike fund

Mt10 is calling my name! A track day would be fun especially now that thw weather is calming down. I may consider doing a track day. I think I could learn a lot like you said the most effective use of money!

Also gotta say I made thia video about a week ago and I've adjusted and I'm enjoying the bike pain free. That's why I put no regrets in the thumbnail which is prob confusing lol

Very minimal mods on mine, however I did get a Kelpi custom seat. I gotta say the added comfort that they add with the additional padding + you can get it in either the same shape or the rear hump slightly trimmed down makes it a good option. I got the re-shape done and it looks sick! I know you were previous looking at their exhaust so maybe you've seen the seat mods they do. Love the channel dude - ride safe

Ya honestly kelpi doesn't make a single bad product they all look incredible. How long was the lead between order and receiving it? I honestly had planned to get their seat and exhaust day 1 but it was that Australia to America shipping that scared me then I ended up waiting 3 weeks for my exhaust 🤣
@JPOV_
@JPOV_ 11 ай бұрын
yup it was just about 3 weeks. I shipped them mine and once they had tracking info for it they shipped out my order. Kinda like just backfilling their stock instead of waiting for it to actually get there. There is the option to keep your seat and buy the seat from them but thats like twice the price. So I just timed it right when I knew I wouldnt be riding for about 2 weeks due to weather and a vacation and now fall riding season here we come.@@admireinspire

@@JPOV_ damn that's badass. I'm highly inclines to get their seat and that really eases my mind. When I pull the trigger I think they just won my business.

i have a black 22 xsr and i luv it, and i think the stock sound is perfect but ugly, what aftermarket exhausts are quiet but better looking?

It's tough because idk what you like specifically. There's a guy with a channel who has the kelpi exhaust and I think that one looks really cool. I also like the yoshimura and the sc project. Sc project has a bunch of different types and shapes but they are on the expensive side.

Two brothers and Leo Vince are also nice. In general I'd say look for mt09 exhausts and reviews. They all fit our bike and since the mt09 is more popular they have more listings.
