Rolls Royce was a luxury car from the beginning. Itself. But Ambassador was more or less peoples car. RR had a reputation of owning by Royal families but at the time Ambassador was launched in India, the dominance of Kings had gone... So there was no chance of Kings buying Ambassadors. In that context, introducing the Ambassador in line with Rolls Royce would have been unacceptable by the people around. They just couldn't digest that concept.

In India at that time who owns ambassador the car gives him the same feeling like a rolls Royce very few people can buy this car

@@abhishekgarg8167 Who told you this? In those days, Ambasadors were sold at the amount of Rs 8000.. The reason behind people not buying cars like now was most of them dont know how to drive and on the other hand, ambassador required a lot of maintenance if not been used for even a short period like a week or so for examples. It had the problems of brake cylinders getting struck, Fuel lines and brake limes becoming clogged and the batteries draining out if it is not started everyday... Dealing with all these took a great amount of money and time... That is why common people even if they had money to purchase an ambassador hesitated to do it. On the contrary Ambassadors , were purchased by working class people like the taxi drivers as well. RR never had such a fate in fact the owners of RR prevented all the chances of their vehicles becoming taxis.

It's a rebadged Morris Oxford. It was a budget car imported for the wealthy in India. It was kept on production in India till about 2008. There are/were better cars in the market. Even when Ambassadors were at it's peak, wealthy people paid bribes and imported luxury cars from abroad.

Once i have chase this car with maruti ertiga for atleast 20 km but atlast i give up... Because he was going smoothly on 120 and i feel i am going out of my comfort on 2 lane road.
