Modifying A Tripplite RS1215 To Have A Powercon Input

Күн бұрынThis video shows the modification of a Tripplite RS1215 PDU to have a Powercon input vs the factory power cable. The video shows how to punch a D Series hole in the chassis, mount the Powercon connector and change the wiring so that the Powercon is the input source.

Can’t say I’m a fan of those Tripp Lite units. The daisy chain wiring pattern, looks like use of solid core jumpers, and using the “stab” holes instead of screws makes for a rig I’d be very hesitant to bring on the road when subject to a lot of vibration. Obviously my opinion and I’m retired from the entertainment biz so armchair warrior here!

What size are those spade connectors for the powercon? What's the model of the crimper?

Hey Don, it took me around 2 hours. That being said: this was the first time I made this mod, so I was making it up as I went without any real plan. Plus I was filming which really slows things down.

Might be a long shot but do you know if punching a hole for a BNC panel connector would be the same size? The exact model is NBB75DFIB

Yup. Standard D-series punch. 15/16” dia hole.
