-I think the only things I forgot is the transmission mount from torque Solutions.
- Alpine iLX309 head unit; I hooked up an HDMI receiver so I can save videos on my phone or iPad and I have no service I can still watch saved contacts on the 13 inch screen.
Also has super dope colors. I highly recommended swapping the crappy Forester Head unit to something better.
There’s been a lot of changes, that there probably will be more changes. But as of right now, this is how I love it and this is how I’ve been rolling with it.

For the haters- we just work with what we have- everyone has different things going on in their life, you don’t know his circumstances… maybe he had a forester and just decided to make the most of it. As for me, I got a lot out of this video and found it really informative. I dont need as intense of a build, but i have a 65w hood panel and 100w panel on my roof cage: a 1500 WH battery to run a heater, tea kettle, and lights; I have a pedal commander as my throttle controller, and got the nameless air intake and HKS legamax muffler (quietest one I could find that is still louder than stock). I don’t think he needs a tune- the engine has low power to start with, and even changing the throttle response, it is still operating well within the parameters of the engine. Meaning, it would be comparable to if you were routinely just stepping harder on the pedal, but that’s all.

I appreciate it. Yes I don’t have $100,000 to throw into a jeep gladiator. I traded my 21 Forester sport in for this and just slowly building it for my adventures. Just planned 4 day 300 miler :) I love it and I appreciate the kind words. Probably don’t need to tune youre right, but I did go ahead and buy a Thorton tuner chip. I don’t know if it’s helping but the car hasn’t exploded yet lol. And the skids, sliders are necesssry.. have those my car would be rusting on a mountain right now, they’ve saved my ass several times.

I appreciate it, don’t be envious, (it’s expensive and frustrating haha but a lot of fun) it’s been almost 3 years now and I’m still working on the bill. I appreciate it, my car has changed even since this video. I need to put out a new one, but I do have the build list if interested - I love talking about building and overlanding.

That’s a comprehensive build! I’d definitely be looking at a pro tune if you’ve started playing with air intakes etc, number 1 thing that will make a Subaru engine go bang.

Yeah, I haven’t had it professionally or truly tuned. I just have that auto tuner for a quicker response time. Any advice on where to go? Or can any shop do a real tune?

@@Subie_OffXroad in all honesty if I was you, the first thing I would be doing is putting the stock intake back on and getting rid of the billet blocks and going back to standard. There are no good tuning options, this isn't a performance motor and the benefit is so minimal it's just not worth blowing an engine over (not to mention you have no warranty coverage now either). Messing with the air intake mixture is a sure way to blow these motors up, have seen it before.

@@SteveC-Aus lol 1, no engine is going to be blown bc of a little more air intake. 2, it actually helps. 3, I’m not racing it. 4, it’s not out of tune nor does it actually need one. Let’s go through it all: Adds 15 HP / 22 TQ - No Tune Required Improves Acceleration Decreases Delay between Shifts with AT Increases the Volumetric Efficiency of your Intake Manifold Maximizes the Potential of Aftermarket Intakes Naturally Aspirated (N/A) vehicles are starving for air without a turbo. Sure, an aftermarket Intake / Cold-Air Intake will bring more air in, but without a bigger volume in your intake manifold to receive the extra air, the air flow essentially gets choked before it has a chance to enter the engine. The Crawford Billet Power Blocks raise your intake manifold, lengthening the intake runners. This increases the volumetric efficiency of your manifold, which provides optimum airflow so that your engine receives as much air as your intake (OEM or aftermarket) can throw at it. Tested on and off our Dynapack Chassis Dyno, we stacked plates up then back down until we found the sweet spot that makes your FB20 engine scream (in a good way)!

@@SteveC-Aus lol. Cute. indeed I copy and pasted from CP. you’d think more “engines would go bang,” considering how many CP billet blocks have been put in crosstrek, outback’s and foresters. Lol. Have had it in for 20k miles and running like a champion. Stop being dramatic. I’ve done plenty of research. Not my first Subaru, 3rd, not my first time playing with the engine. I told you already, it has a high performance throttle response tuner; there is no need for it to be professionally tuned, the air ratio isn’t dramatic enough a change shit, and removing the blocks is just moronic.

Nah . I mean the RTT is 100 the shower is 20lbs. I don’t ride with it full. Skid plates are aluminum and light. Removed weight when the front bumper was added. Only weight is really the winch. Swing gate is 120lbs and awning is fairly light. I mean yea it’s heavier but no different then having 2 or 3 normal size humans riding with you.

I also have a 2022 Forester Wilderness, all stock right now. I really like your channel and glad to see someone going ham on the mods. I'm thinking about which ones I'd like to add. My question is, what made you choose the Foreseter as your platform? Seems like it's easier to overland with jeeps and broncos.

I appreciate it. Not necessarily trying to be a pioneer, but building it, so it’s as functional as possible. Oh I went with a Forrester because I had a 2017 cross track that was paid off and I sold for (back to the dealership) $7000 which I then put down towards a brand new 2021 Forrester sport. I had like 9000 miles on the 2021 sport, and when used car prices were exploding. I drove back to the dealership to see what they give me, they ended up buying it back for several thousand dollars more than I paid for it, so I immediately went and drove off the lot with a 2022 wilderness .

One day, but I can’t drop 50 or 60 K on a brand new car. Crazy that people can haha. The forester has been 2 years in the making, lots of changes, some money spent that wasn’t necessary, but you live and you learn. And honestly with the C kit shocks. I’m not really overloaded. I mean I don’t get 30mpg but it still drives really well and I still get great acceleration, especially with the HikeIT Tuner. Truly helps with response time. And the transmission mount 1000% helps with the left and right shake when starting the car. Easy mod. And helps with CV longevity.

@@ImaYam I went with an exhaust for one of my first mods, I had exhaust on my old Forrester as well. But I was stuck with the wilderness floor mats. They seem to work well enough and I have not got a ceramic coating around the car, I didn’t know about that. And now I have pinstripes ha ha. but not a bad idea. If you are really going to take it out and play with it! I may wrap mine soon enough but that’s expensive af

It’s no race car but it drives great! It’s my everyday. And I usually don’t have EVERYTHING loaded unless I’m going out. Still get 22mpg highway.. around town closer to 15 but it is what it is. I’m sure the bronco badlands on 37s I just parked beside doesn’t get 30mpg haha ;)

I deleted that reply just a few minutes ago to not bash on perrin, but I got it to fit after calling them and making sure it was the right part before I stripped a bolt. It was an extremely tight fit and I had to put my car in the garage as I believe the incline of my driveway made it impossible to install. They also stated the OEM actually stretches slightly overtime which is why it is longer than the new part. Definitely noisier startup, and slightly better throttle response, but not really louder at all in normal driving. Definitely worth it to clear up some throttle lag!

What is the point of a strut bar on an offroad buid?

Not much, haha. It reduces chassis torque, let’s the suspension do little more work. But this is my everyday as well. Slightly stiffer chassis isn’t really gonna affect my off-road in because I’m not rock crawling. I mean I do push it pretty hard, but I’m not in Moab. Unlike double wishbone type suspension systems, MacPherson Strut assemblies are load-bearing on the top - where they’re connected to the body of your car. Because of this design, your strut tower undergoes extreme pressure while hard cornering or if you hit a bump at high speeds. This pressure is enough to offset and temporarily change the alignment of your car’s suspension geometry, making your car unpredictable in tight situations. Installing a strut bar helps to counteract this effect. In some cases, your suspension needs to function independently. Especially if off-road stability is important for you. For example, if you have a strut brace installed, and your front left wheel hits a bump, this effect will also be felt on the front right wheel. The same problem occurs with sway bars too. This isn’t ideal when it comes to driving off-road. You could lose traction when you need it the most and your ride will be uncomfortable. Strut bars redistribute tension between the left and right strut towers. All the force and pressure that is generated while driving gets shared evenly across your chassis. Because of this, the wear and tear associated with this pressure also get redistributed. Even wear is always a good thing.

@Subie_OffXroad I'd be curious about that too. Disconnecting the sway bars gives the car noticeably more flexibility, but I wonder how the effect would be different with a brace on top.

@@JamieUtah I do have my front sway bars disconnected. My rears are still in. One reason why I also put the strut bar in. But definitely have to remove it to be able to see if there’s a noticeable difference.

Do you have forester? Look up Takeda Cool Air Intake. They make them for outback and crosstreks and foresters before 2019.

I mean.. I’m not racing it haha. I’ll be honest I’d rather have lower gear ratio than more hp when crawling up the mountain kr through water but I haven’t had any power issues. I push her pretty hard in my trail riding videos

@@vilhelmstein2091 i’ve actually had the same conversation with a lot of people. Because the outback (non wilderness) has more horsepower with the turbo but the wilderness has the deeper and better/lower gear ratio for when going off-road. Look up HikeIT tuner. I bought and installed it, helps with much more responsive pedal/acceleration, or less when you are off-road.

With all the lighting and everything else you have on it that’s drawing power, how do you manage without your battery draining? Did you upgrade your battery or did you add a secondary?

I don’t run the lights all the time, but I have the solar panel directly connected to batter and the Jackory. Most everything is ran off the jackery, except the light bars. Fridge, inside lights, any camping/exterior LED, all plugged up to the Jackory. I’ve only had to use my battery, jumpstart one time in the woods, and that’s when it was was cold I was just literally sitting in my car and wouldn’t turn over in the morning but quick jump and good to go!

@@Subie_OffXroad cool, I just put a bunch of lights on my OBW and everything is running off the blazer international wireless remote trigger. The only one that’s not on the blazer is the top light bar because it was too many amps for the blazer so I used the switch for that one and ran it through the firewall and put it in the empty slot next to the trunk release and it’s a perfect fit.

Im a subi owner myself and have a lift plates and ats but.....at what point do you stop and think maybe I just should have bought a proper 4x4 with hi/lo box and locking diffs? I don't get why you would do this to a foz with a cvt and a 2.5 na engine you added a hell of a lot of weight to a underpowered car..... would love to see your gear box oil temps pulling all this crap up any kind of decent accent....

lol. It’s not they much weight. Cut off 150lbs, some added for sure but heavy load suspension, front and rear. Wilderness has lower ratio gear. I have a locker in the rear. My oil temps don’t go above 230, I have billet blocks and cut in air vents for more air flow. I’ll take a video if you don’t believe me. I ride it hard and have had zero problems of over heating ever.. and I follow “proper 4x4’s.” I also traded in my 2021 sport for this. Didn’t have 60k sitting around … This is exactly what I need, I’m not on Moab rock crawling. I’m in mud and dirt climbing mountains. Check out the most recent videos..

The spacer u have on rear rear is it one pice or two pice spacer because i cant find it in adf website 1 3/8 and the front is it just one inch spacer?

It’s one on top of the other. I have the 1” and then I said screw it and added the other 3/8” they offer. I’ll share the video I have of me doing it.. 💪

@@user-vv2gf5nd7q oh no worries haha I love talking builds! I’m all over other peoples asking same questions haha. Yes I initially added 1” on both front and rear. Then 3/8” just on the back bc that was easier to do myself. Couple weeks later added the 3/8” to front so I have 1 3/8” spacer both front and rear including the 2” lift via the iron man suspension (c-kit) Total 3 3/8” lift Including 30-31” tires gives me 16” side ground clearance and with bumper about 24” in the front.
