These are modifications you can do to any lathe, I had these mods on my south bend heavy 10 and my south bend 9". Fairly easy to make, but a welder is needed. Parts from McMaster Carr, Amazon and JC Whitney.

Good ideas, both. Thank You. I have a Taiwan lathe from the 1990s that must have been the inspiration for the Grizzly and similar. Either my motor shorted, or the relays did. Had a big arc and fire out the control box. That's been a head scratcher, but I think I finally have new relays wired correctly and a Grizzly replacement motor to hook up today. Of course nothing fits, you have to make it.

I have done the motorized feed on an old monarch in similar manner,. Hooked up an adjustable limit switch onto a carriage stop. Works excellent when turning multiple cuts to a shoulder.

Missed how you attached the rack and pinion to the tail stock end. Did see you have a pin to unhook it but what did you do where it's attached to wheel shaft? Have a Grizzly G-0709, really like it for the price. Great ideas, Now you need to make a lever for the carriage stop, and get rid of the allen wrench, 👍👍👍👍

A small eyeball fitting welded to a nut that fits hand wheel nut. The rack has a slot that takes the fitting in and has a drill bit cut and pressed into aluminum knob.

Thanks for the previous info, do you have the numbers for what you ordered from Mc Mas----- please, the rack and pinion and what else is from them?👍👍👍👍
